IMPACT News: Matches For Tonight’s IMPACT On Pop Tapings, Aries’ Status

Published

on

On the heels of last night’s big Bound For Glory pay-per-view, IMPACT Wrestling is back at the Melrose Ballroom in Queens, New York tonight for a set of IMPACT on Pop television tapings.

At the conclusion of Bound For Glory, a new IMPACT World Champion was crowned when Johnny Impact delivered Starship Pain to Austin Aries for the win. As we saw, Aries didn’t sell the move, leaving the ring right after the pinfall and directing middle fingers around the arena. The feud between the two has blurred the lines of reality and storyline, leaving many fans questioning whether or not it’s all been a work. To further that, Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that Aries went home following Bound For Glory and will not be present at tonight’s tapings.

However, what will be seen hadn’t been revealed until today as IMPACT Wrestling has announced two matches ahead of the tapings which will be seen this Thursday on Pop TV. The first will pit Trevor Lee against Ethan Page, while the next features Allie who is one night removed from saving Kiera Hogan from Su Yung with the help of Rosemary, going one-on-one with Alisha Edwards:

Ronda Rousey Says She Will Headline Evolution With Nikki Bella

Published

Ronda Rousey

The WWE will present its first ever all women’s pay-per-view in just under two weeks as Evolution emanates from the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York.

While only four matches for the card have been confirmed on WWE programming thus far (a fifth has already been set with the Mae Young Classic Finals, just not aired yet), many fans have questioned which match would main event the show.

To this point, we have the RAW Women’s Title with Ronda Rousey vs. Nikki Bella, Trish Stratus and Lita vs. Alexa Bliss and Mickie James, Shayna Baszler challenging Kairi Sane for the NXT Women’s Title and lastly the SmackDown Women’s Championship with Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair. There are those that feel that Charlotte vs. Becky match should be the main event, meanwhile some other fans feel as if it’s a foregone conclusion that the RAW Women’s Championship match that will inevitably close the broadcast.

As far as the RAW Women’s Champion herself is concerned, TMZ recently caught up with Rousey who stated that she will be headlining Evolution, along with some pretty harsh words for The Bella Twins:

‘The Baddest Woman on the Planet’ is scheduled for tonight’s edition of Monday Night RAW from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia and is set to address The Bella Twins’ sneak attack from last week’s show. Catch up with all the action right here on The Chairshot at 8PM EST with Mitchell’s Live Report.

WWE Rumors: Speculation On WWE Signing Chelsea Green

Published

on

Since taking part in a WWE tryout at the Performance Center in Orlando back in July, many fans have seemingly been awaiting news that Chelsea Green, also known as Reklusa in Lucha Underground and formerly Laurel Van Ness of IMPACT Wrestling, has signed with the company.

Last week, there was talk that Chelsea had finally put her name on a WWE contract after a report by Twitter user @SoDuTw stated that she had signed and was already at the Performance Center. However, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter is disputing that today, reporting that Green’s presence at the Performance Center was just to train. It should also be noted that anyone who follows her social media accounts has taken notice that she frequents the Orlando area, which is where her boyfriend and WWE Superstar Zack Ryder reside.

Currently, there is no word when or if Green could be signed by the company, as it was also believed to happen shortly after the July tryout when she was pulled from an IPW show (see that story here). At that time, the speculation was the she would be taking part in this year’s Mae Young Classic, but of course that was not the case.

EA’s Take: Last I knew, if you’re under a Lucha Underground contract you’re not allowed to sign somewhere else. Therefore, I don’t think we will be seeing Chelsea in the WWE anytime soon if it happens, at least until this season of LU wraps up. If I’m remembering correctly, talents appearing on LU programming, even if their contract is expired, are not able to sign with another promotion until the season that’s airing concludes. That’s only if she’s signed on for one season as well, which is most likely since season five is seemingly not official just yet.
