Match #3: The Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal) w/Paul Ellering vs. Doom (#1 – Ron Simmons & #2 – Butch Reed) w/Woman and Nitron
Animal and #2 get the action started. Collar and elbow tie up and it’s quickly broken. Animal blocks a straight right and lands a standing drop kick. Another tie up, Animal grabs the wrist and tags in Hawk. Hawk hangs onto the wristlock. The two don’t budge on shoulder tackle attempts before Hawk lands a huge clothesline. Doom #1 is tagged in and he lectures Hawk in the middle of the ring. More stalemates on shoulder tackles before Hawk powerslams him. Big football tackle from Hawk and Animal tags in. Animal delivers a big elbow and grabs a reverse chinlock. Back to their feet, Doom #2 rakes Animal’s back and lands an elbow.

Doom #1 is tagged in and he works Animal in the corner. Animal reverses an Irish whip with a big boot and Hawk is tagged back in. Standing drop kick from Hawk, but he misses a shoulder off an Irish whip and tumbles to the floor. Doom is in control and he snaps Hawk’s neck into the bottom rope. Hawk receives right hands to the face and Doom #2 is tagged back in. Hawk is whipped to the ropes for a powerslam and Doom gets a 2 count. They maintain control with a reverse chin lock on the mat. Woman helps Doom maintain leverage and #1 is tagged in. Doom lands a double elbow and #1 scoops him for a slam. #1 goes to the 2nd rope for an elbow drop and he gets a 2 count.

Woman taunts from the outside as Hawk is victim to a clothesline. Hawk is held in a reverse chin lock as the crowd gets behind The Road Warriors. Hawk works his way to his feet and lands elbows to the wrist. Doom is outstrengths the effort and drags him back to the mat. The referee checks the arms but Hawk won’t quit. Hawk works slowly to his feet and breaks the hold with elbows. Doom attempts a body slam but Hawk falls on top of him. A hot tag is made to Animal who comes in on fire. Flying football tackle and a power slam by Animal. He gets a 2 count before it is broken up by Doom #1. As Doom #1 argues with the referee, LOD executes the Doomsday Device.
Winners: The Road Warriors (Animal/Doomsday Device/20 Points)

  • EA’s Take: Clearly, we’re making Doom the “jobbers” of this event as they get very little time to recover against a fresh Road Warriors. Again, a match that could have been more, but this format makes that difficult.

Match #4: The Great Muta w/Gary Hart vs. NWA World Heavyweight Champion ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair w/Ole Arn Anderson
Collar and elbow tie up and Muta hits a shoulder tackle. Flair can’t execute a hip toss and Muta hits him in the eye. Hand spring elbow by Muta followed by an elbow. Flair kicks Muta off of him and they exchange chops. Inverted atomic drop by Flair and he goes to work on the knee. Flair already locks in the Figure Four and Gary Hart is on the apron. There is a run in from the back and the Anderson’s fight them off. Flair is distracted by Hart and breaks the hold. Muta comes in from behind with a backbreaker. Flair gets the knees up on Muta’s attempted moonsault. Flair jumps to his feet and rolls him up with an inside cradle. Flair is the first man to PIN the Great Muta.
Winner: Ric Flair (Inside Cradle/20 Points)

  • EA’s Take: Whoa, what just happened? I’m confused about who tried to run in, not that he ever made it to the ring. I guess if you’re trying to excuse Muta’s first pinfall defeat, a confusing melee with a surprise roll up is one way to go.

Match #5: NWA World Tag Team Champions The Steiner Brothers (Rick & Scott) vs. The Road Warriors (Hawk & Animal) w/Paul Ellering
The men show sportsmanship before Scott and Hawk get us started. Collar and elbow tie up and a quick break. Scott with a single leg take down but it’s broken by the ropes. He goes for it again but Hawk leaps up and kicks him in the head. Hawk catches Scott’s foot to the midsection but Scott rolls him down to the mat. Rick is tagged in and they have a collar and elbow. Hawk lands an incredible clothesline and gets a 2 count. Hawk brings Rick to his corner, tags in Animal and the team delivers a double elbow. Rick ducks Animal’s individual clothesline and comes back with his own Steinerline. Collar and elbow between Rick and Animal.

They run the ropes and Animal gets his knee up to Rick’s mid-section. Rick reverses a bear hug and lands a belly to belly suplex. Hawk breaks up the pin and they slow it down. Scott and Hawk are both tagged in and Hawk wastes no time to lift Scott for a gorilla press slam. Scott is sent to the ropes and receives a big boot. Hawk gets a 2 count and he tags in Animal. The fresh partner scoops Scott for a slam but misses an elbow. Belly to belly from Scott and Animal raises the shoulder at 2 and a half. To the corner and Scott gives him some shoulders to the midsection. Irish whip from Steiner but Animal comes back with an impressive clothesline. Scott is lifted for a modified back breaker.

He follows it with a side slam and another near fall. Scott grabs on for a waist lock and lifts Hawk to the top turnbuckle. He belly to bellys him from the top and Hawk lands hard. He’s able to crawl over and make the tag to Animal. The new man holds the younger Steiner in a big bear hug. Scott fights back with a knee to the solarplexes. He sends Animal to the ropes, but Animal kicks him on his back body drop attempt. Rick pulls him off when a pin is attempted. A tag is made to Hawk and he delivers right kicks to Steiner’s head.

Hawk power slams Scott and makes a quick tag to Animal. Animal lands an elbow but Rick breaks up the pin again. All 4 men brawl in the ring and The Road Warriors set up Scott for a modified Doomsday Device. The clothesline is made but it’s really more of a belly to back suplex from Animal. He holds Scott down for a pin, but Scott gets his shoulder up after 2. Animal doesn’t seem to realize his shoulders are down on the mat and the Steiners pick up the win.
Winners: The Steiner Brothers (Scott/Belly to Back Suplex Reversal/20 Points)

  • EA’s Take: Interesting finish. I actually had to hit rewind and watch it again to make sure I was clear on what happened, which isn’t exactly a good thing. Coming up with a finish between two hot babyfaces whom you don’t want to knock down cleanly is always a challenge.

On this Episode, the guys cover Survivor Series ’92, an event that saw a radical departure from Survivor Series events of the past. With many top stars having departed the WWE in the Fall of 1992 (or having been fired), the 1992 edition of Survivor Series saw only one traditional Survivor Series match. Their match at Survivor Series ’92 was an instant classic and it was so good, that the guys decided to do a watch along here on this Episode! All that plus behind-the-scenes stories and lesser-known factoids the Big Four Project famously delivers time and time again. The Attitude Of Aggression returns for another installment of The Big Four Project, a chronological analysis, review, and discussion about WWE’s Big Four PPVs/ Premium Live Events. On this Episode, the guys cover Summer Slam ’92, the first truly massive overseas PPV for the WWE. In the summer of 1992, the WWE traveled to Wembley Stadium in England and delivered an unforgettable event. Headlined by two epic matches, this was the event that truly made Summer Slam feel more like WrestleMania than ever before. One of the Main Events saw the Macho Man, Randy Savage, defend the WWE Championship against the man who had retired him a year earlier, The Ultimate Warrior. The other Main Event saw Bret “Hitman” Hart defend his IC Championship against hometown hero, The British Bulldog. It ended up being one of the greatest IC title matches in history and here, on this Episode, the guys do a watch-along of that phenomenal battle.
