The recent “talent acquisition mode” for the WWE doesn’t appear to be showing any signs of slowing down after numerous reports that Matt Riddle is likely on his way to the company, plus the recent news that WWE is interested in Angelico, Fenix and Pentagon Jr.
Another top independent star now looks to be on the company’s radar as The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that WWE has interest in Shane Strickland and is reportedly going to be “getting a look” soon. Strickland is a 9-year pro from Tacoma, Washington, going by the nickname ‘SWERVE’.
Through his nine year career, Strickland has worked for Combat Zone Wrestling, EVOLVE, Lucha Underground, DEFY Wrestling and Major League Wrestling. His list of accolades includes being a one-time CZW World Champion, two-time CZW Wired TV Champion, two-time Lucha Underground Trios Champion and just recently lost the MLW World Title to Low-Ki. Currently, he is the EVOLVE Champion and it should be noted that EVOLVE is seeking to build around him as the promotion’s top star due to the recent departure of Keith Lee and impending loss of Matt Riddle.
