WWE News: Asuka’s Royal Rumble Challenger Now Set

Asuka WWE WrestleMania
The SmackDown Women’s Title Match at Royal Rumble is now set!

After we learned that The Miz and Shane McMahon will face The Bar at Royal Rumble for the SmackDown Tag Titles (go here for more on that), tonight’s SmackDown Live moved into our Triple Threat main event where the winner moves on to face Asuka at the same event for the SmackDown Women’s Championship.

Becky Lynch, Carmella and Charlotte Flair all looked to solidify their opportunity after the aforementioned Shane McMahon made tonight’s match last week. All three ladies would have various opportunities to win the match, Carmella at one point looking like she would get Charlotte to tap out to the Code Of Silence before Becky made the save.

‘The Queen’ would show the elite athleticism we’ve become accustomed to with a moonsault off the top to both of her opponents, but unfortunately could only find consecutive near falls. ‘The Man’ would also have a close call of her own, isolating Carmella after Charlotte would misfire on another moonsault off the top, this one to the outside. Becky would deliver a Bexploder to ‘The Princess Of Staten Island’ on the floor, but couldn’t score a pin off of it as Charlotte continually would get involved.

In the end, Carmella would rid the ring of Flair with a superkick, but get caught in the Dis-Arm-Her and tap to give Becky the win and a chance to take back the SmackDown Women’s Title.
