Hikaru Shida VS Aerial Monroe!

The samurai of Stardom got quite a fight out of Shanna, but now she’s going bigger against Big Swole! Will Shida keep her momentum to be poised for a title match post Full Gear?

The bell rings and fans are fired up already! Shida and Swole circle and tie up, and Shida manages to power Swole to ropes. The ref calls for the break and Shida honors it. Shida and Swole tie up, and the two push each other around. Shida pushes Swole to ropes but Swole turns it around. Swole gives Shida a pat on the shoulder then flexes on her as she backs off. Shida smirks and circles with Swole again. Swole waistlocks, headlocks, but Shida hits back with body shots. Shida pushes Swole but Swole comes back to run Shida over! Shida kips back up! Shida swings but Swole dodges to dropkick Shida down! Swole drags Shida up but Shida arm-drags her away. Swole comes back, dodges Shida, and things speed up. Swole hurdles, ducks under but gets caught! Shida shows her strength, but Swole slips out to back kick. Swole runs, Shida rolls to a drop toehold! Basement dropkick!

Fans fire up as Swole gets to the apron. Shida goes out to club Swole’s back. Shida backs up to run back in, BIG knee lift! Swole flops to the floor but Shida isn’t done with her. Shida goes looking under the ring, and brings out a chair! But just ilke she did with Shanna, she stands the stair up and springboards off, BIG flying knee! Fans fire up as Shida takes Swole down! Shida high fives fans before putting Swole in the ring. Shida stomps Swole down before dragging her up into a scoop slam. Fans rally up and duel as Shida gets the legs. Shida turns Swole over for a Half Crab! Swole endures, feeding of the fans’ energy. Swole reaches back, clubs Shida, and gets free! But Shida rolls back to get both legs! Swole kicks, so Shida stomps her down. Shida looms over Swole at the ropes as fans rally again.

Shida runs, knee but Swole turns it to a roll-up, ONE! BOOT! Swole reels Shida out, spins, but Shida dodges to KNEE Swole as she goes for the leg! Cover, TWO!! Swole survives and shocks Shida now! But Shida fires up with the fans, and she powers up to run. Shining Wizard! Cover, Shida wins!

Winner: Hikaru Shida, by pinfall

The winning ways continue, and whether it is Riho or Emi Sakura, the AEW Women’s World Champion should watch out for Shida!

Backstage interview with Hikaru Shida.

That big win was great! Shida is happy to have come to AEW, to show the Japanese style to the world. She is happy to be doing just that. With Full Gear coming Saturday, Riho VS Sakura, Shida was also a student of Emi. Who does she feel will win? That’s a hard question, but Shida is sure Emi will win. Riho has technique, but Emi shows her true power in the big matches. Will the student lose to the master in Maryland?

Nyla Rose & Leva Bates VS Shazza McKenzie & Shalandra Royal!

The Native Beast missed out on being the inaugural AEW Women’s World Champion, but there’s always another chance! Will she and The Librarian earn themselves much needed momentum towards the title?

Speaking of Leva, she’s sans Peter Avalon, but she’s still shushing Charlotte. But she at least doesn’t insult the fans, so Charlotte appreciates that. The teams sort out, and Nyla starts against Shazza.

Fans rally up with the bubblegum colored Heartthrob as she ties up with Nyla. Shazza waistlocks but can’t lift Nyla. Nyla bucks her off and runs her over! Nyla drags Shazza up to whip but Shazza cartwheels to kick! It does nothing! Nyla clotheslines Shazza down hard! Nyla circles Shazza but lets her tag Royal. Royal dropkicks but barely budges Nyla! Those forearms don’t do much, either. Royal runs but into a BOOT! Nyla drags Royal up and scoops to a slam, to then clamp a claw on the nerve hold! Fans rally up but Nyla elbows Royal down. Leva wants a tag, but Nyla leaves her hanging. Shazza tags in and she attacks Nyla with Royal, the double kicks finally do some damage. Shazza and Royal go to double suplex, but they’re still not enough, Nyla double suplexes them! Leva is shocked by such power!

Nyla puts Shazza and Royal side by side, and goes to run, but she senses Leva wanting to tag in so she stops. Nyla tells Leva to stay put at the very corner. Leva obliges and cheers, “Hercules! Hercules!” Nyla runs but misses her splash! Royal hits a basement Complete Shot! Shazza adds a running kick! They both run, but Nyla grabs them both! DOUBLE CHOKE SLAMS! Nyla roars as she goes after Shazza. Nyla scoops Shazza for another slam, then drops the leg! She drags Shazza up to throw at the post! Royal inadvertently tags herself in, and Nyla drags her in for a Fall Away Slam! Leva tells Royal to hush, then asks for a tag! Nyla throws Royal INTO Leva! That’s rather rude to her partner. Nyla then whips Royal at Shazza, another inadvertent tag! Nyla drags Shazza up from the apron, in through the ropes, and GERMAN SUPLEXES Shazza across the way!

Leva takes a coffee break and reads some notes while Nyla toys with Shazza. Seems Leva has resigned to her role in this match. Nyla suplexes Shazza up and down hard, then drags her to a cover. But she lets up at TWO! Nyla drags Shazza up and fireman’s carries her to Royal, to make her tag in! Royal begs for mercy, but gets none from Nyla! Nyla drags Royal up and in by her hair, to PUNT Royal in the head! Nyla could end this right here, but she drags Royal up and into another fireman’s carry, DEATH VALLEY DRIVER! Cover, but Shazza breaks it!? Is Shazza a masochist?! Nyla throws Shazza into the corner, and then drags Royal up into a fireman’s carry. Nyla uses Royal to kick Shazza, and now Nyla double stacks her opponents! DOUBLE SAMOAN DROP! Fans cheer that feat of strength, but Nyla isn’t done yet. She double stacks Shazza and Royal again and heads up top. Nyla leaps, SWANTON 2-for-1! Double cover, Nyla wins! Oh, and Leva, too.

Winners: Nyla Rose & Leva Bates, Rose pinning

The Native Beast made this more a handicap match, but Leva benefits from it. They’re finally on the board, will things turn around for the two of them?

Backstage interview with Nyla Rose.

A tag team match where Nyla didn’t tag in is rather odd. But it’s because Nyla didn’t feel the need to. Nyla has a question to ask herself: Did you see All Out’s Casino Battle Royal? If you did, then you saw Nyla eliminate HALF the field on her own! From day one, Nyla has been disrespected. She doesn’t get any credit for what she did in that battle royal, not even a 1 in the win column. But now she’ll give the disrespect back, one opponent at a time. Or even two at a time. Nyla didn’t tag out, because she’s the Native Beast.

Tony and Dasha are in the AEW Control Center!

With Full Gear fast approaching, they run down the match card. The Buy In will have Britt Baker settle her grudge with Bea Priestley. Then there’s the Bad Boy, Joey Janela, wanting revenge on Shawn Spears for that tongue torture in the back alley, but Tully Blanchard will be ringside, surely as an x-factor. Hangman Page and PAC settle the score in a rematch, and the Young Bucks take on the #ProudNPowerful Santana & Ortiz to prove who is the strongest tag team in AEW.

Then there’s the title matches! SCU defending their AEW World Tag Team Championships in a Triple Threat! Riho defends her AEW Women’s World Championship against her former mentor, Emi Sakura! The AEW World Championship is on the line, Chris Jericho takes on Cody Rhodes, and Cody has vowed that if he loses her, he’ll NEVER challenge for this title again! There will be three judges to determine the winner should there be a time-limit draw. And of course, there will be the Unsanctioned #LightsOut grudge match of Jon Moxley and Kenny Omega!

Six Man Tag: CIMA & SoCal Uncensored VS Kip Sabian & The Hybrid2!

Christopher Daniels is still out, recovering from the damage done by the Lucha Brothers. However, the Strong Hearts team leader is willing to help out his respected rivals in this tune-up before Full Gear’s tag title triple threat! But will Superbad and his new friends ruin the momentum?

The trios sort out and Cima starts with Angelico. Cima and Angelico circle, Jack Evans talks trash to the fans, but Angelico and Cima tie up. Angelico wristlocks but Cima rolls and reverses the wrench to a hammerlock. Cima brings Angelico down and keeps the hammerlock to tweak it. Angelico endures as Cima grabs the other arm, but he gets up to his feet. Cima wrenches Angelico more, but Angelico slips through to wrench back! Angelico traps both Cima’s arms, then arm-drags Cima down for an armlock. Cima kips up but Angelico flips him through. Cima kips up again but Angelico flips him again. The fans rally up and Cima kips up again. Angelico arm-drags and releases to sweep and cover, ONE! Cima sweeps and covers, ONE!

Cima runs, Angelico dodges and elbows back! Angelico runs, but Cima follows to dropkick! Cima blows up Angelico’s corner, and uses Evans jumping in as a distraction. Cima brings Angelico up, hammerlocks, tag to Frankie Kazarian. Kaz wrenches but Angelico knees low. Angelico tags Evans and Evans runs in, but Kaz arm-drags him around! Evans arm-drags but Kaz arm-drags back! Kaz has Evans down again but Evans fights his way up. Kaz wrenches again but Evans cartwheels and heel kicks free! Evans brings Kaz away, tag to Kip!

Kip stomps away on Kaz but lets up at the ref’s count. Evans keeps talking trash to fans as Kip chokes Kaz on the ropes. Kip backs off but then brings Kaz up to fisherman. Kaz kicks free of the suplex, then fires off, LARIAT takes Kip down! Kaz drags Kip over, tag to Scorpio Sky. Kaz snapmares Kip for Scorpio’s slingshot splash! Cover, TWO! Scorpio drags Kip up, tag to Kaz again. Scorpio snapmares Kip for Kaz’s slingshot leg drop! Cover, TWO! Kaz wrenches Kip and tags Cima, Cima climbs up to drop ax handles! Cima wrenches, tags Scorpio, Scorpio climbs to drop ax handles! Fans cheer the S-Cima-U combination! Scorpio wrenches Kip to a knuckle lock, then wrenches again. Kip fights but Scorpio whips him to a corner.

Kip goes up and over and waistlocks, but Scorpio resists and elbows free. Kip ends up in the corner, but he puts Scorpio on the apron. Scorpio hits back, but Angelico distracts the ref as Scorpio hops up! Kip rakes Scorpio’s eyes! And Evans BOOTS Scorpio down! Kaz protests but the damage was done. Kip stomps Scorpio then puts him in the ring. Kip stomps Scorpio down more to cover, TWO! Kip keeps on Scorpio and mocks the “SCU!” chant. Kip wraps on a chinlock but Scorpio fights his way up. Scorpio throws body shots but Kip shoves him to ropes. Scorpio rebounds into a pop-up knee! Kip DECKS Scorpio with the right, cover, TWO! Kip drags Scorpio over and Angelico tags in. Angelico clubs Scorpio down then tags Evans.

Angelico grinds a knee in as he tags Kip. Kip drags Scorpio up to throw into the open corner’s buckles. Kip wrenches and whips corner to corner hard! Kip drags Scorpio up and whips Scorpio corner to corner again. Kip goes Around the World to enziguri Scorpio in the corner! Then he rolls Scorpio to Shining Wizard! Cover, TWO!

Kip drags Scorpio into a facelock and grinds Scorpio with the chancery. Fans rally up and Scorpio fights his way up. Scorpio pries at the hold but Kip knees low. Kip whips, Scorpio reverses and dropkicks back! Both men are down and crawling, Angelico tags in and clubs Scorpio down! Angelico grabs Scorpio’s legs but Scorpio powers him away! Hot tag to CIMA! Cima rallies with dropkicks, Evans springboards INTO a dropkick! Cima boots Kip and ducks Angelico to waistlock and grab a hand. Cima makes Angelico SLAP Evans! And kip up! Tag to Scorpio, SCU combines for SCU Later, the Gory Especial to knee lift! Tag to Cima who is already climbing, METEORA! Cover, S-CIMA-U wins!!

Winners: CIMA & SCU, Cima pinning

An incredible victory for three experienced veterans! Will this give SoCal Uncensored the momentum they need to retain the tag titles? Or is a triple threat going to be too much for their first defense?

My Thoughts:

Another really good Dark to add onto the go-home feel of the week. I wonder if this continues as a trend for AEW PPV weeks, getting Dark in on a Thursday or Friday before PPV Saturday. We also got some more interviews this episode, maybe Dark can help give us promos for the wrestlers when there just isn’t time on Dynamite. Shida does great again with Big Swole, Shida is essentially the next contender after Riho VS Sakura now. Shida picked Sakura to win, but I can’t be sure the odds of two “teacher VS student” matches in a row. At the same time, Shida might want another try at Riho herself, since that was the match that led Riho to winning the title. The same thing goes for Nyla Rose, she dominated the women’s tag match, and I’m surprised she didn’t beat up Leva just for good measure.

I skipped the video package setting up Cody VS Jericho, it was really just a time filler. If you’re watching AEW Dark, you’re likely doing your best to watch Dynamite. And if not watching, then you’re at least reading these articles so you’ve probably seen the Dynamite article anyway. Cima & SCU VS Sabian & TH2 was a great Six Man Tag. Cima’s work with SCU in the past helped them blend here, and it seems the team of Superbad and the Hybrid2 is getting a little tense from some of that verbal in-fighting. AEW hasn’t had a lot of on-air story building, they mostly use social media for that, but I wouldn’t mind seeing something develop on Dynamite, like a quick argument backstage before having another Six Man Tag with some other possible trio, like Best Friends and Orange Cassidy, where Kip and TH2 manage to win and use to patch things up. Putting a trio together to have it break down so soon, not really something any company should do in my opinion.

My Score: 8.5/10
