FTR VS The Lucha Brothers!

Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood still don’t have their truck back after The Butcher & The Blade stole it. Those two even give Pentagon and Fenix a ride to the ring in that truck! Winners: FTR, by pinfall

FTR just used the luchador’s weakness to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat! Butcher and Blade are upset by that, will they hold the truck over FTR’s heads as revenge? Wait, coming up behind them, it’s the Young Bucks! DOUBLE SUPERKICKS! Matt and Nick Jackson take the keys and bring them over. But wait, Kenny Omega is here, too? Kenny looks apologetic from last week’s misunderstanding about beer. He and the Bucks go into the ring to give FTR their keys, and some brewskis! Cheers! But then FTR pour it out on Omega’s head?! Not only is that a waste of beer, that’s just mean. The Bucks hold Omega back but barely! Will this only fire up The Cleaner to take it out on Jurassic Express?

Chris Jericho is here!

Le Champion has The Inner Circle following him, with jugs of orange juice in hand as reminders of the victory over Orange Cassidy in last week’s Fyter Fest finale. Jericho grabs a mic and says, “Le Champion is here!” And last week, he had one of the best matches in AEW history against Orange Cassidy. Not only did he win, he won the ratings war, just like he does every single week! Jericho wants to show and explain to the “kids” how ratings work. Yes, you want the overall viewership, but the most important thing is the 18 to 49 demographic, aka The Demo. Jericho has never, ever been beaten in that demo! Jericho is the King of the Ratings! He is the Demo God!

The Inner Circle praises Jericho as he continues to praise himself in that match last week. One of the best matches in a long time, and everyone is saying the same thing. “We loved that match! We saw something in Orange Cassidy that we’ve never seen before, ever!” Cassidy looked like a star just being in the ring with Jericho, and Jericho said that’s true. But Jericho knows what the people want. he understands the concept of being a draw. Orange Cassidy wants a rematch. TNT wants a rematch. The advertisers in the demo want a rematch. Everyone watching right now wants a rematch! You want a rematch, Jericho VS Cassidy II, right? Well if that’s what you want, you AREN’T getting one!

Cassidy had his chance, he did good, but not good enough. Cassidy took Jericho to the limit. The crowd jeers with “You Scared?” Jericho isn’t scared of some little dweeb with a denim jacket! Jericho is the Demo God! And that is why there will never be a rematch! So Cassidy, congrats. Enjoy the fact that you got to stand in the ring with Le Champion. Now go back to hugging Best Friends, and remembering what it’s like to be a main eventer. A sip for Cassidy, and pour some out for Cassidy’s dead career. But wait, here comes Freshly Squeezed! Cassidy is entering from the crowd! The Sloth stares Jericho down from long range but the crowd cheers. Jericho tells them “Shut your mouth!”

Jericho gets that Cassidy wants to hear this in person. The crowd jeers, “You Scared~? You Scared~?” Jericho will tell Cassidy what he really feels. Cassidy can go, but he doesn’t have what it takes to be on Le Champion’s level. He’s lazy, has a bad attitude, and is an entitled sloth! Jericho will say it one more time: “There will never be a rematch.” So just take those sunglasses, fold them up, and shove them up your ass. Then get out of Jericho’s arena. The crowd boos but Jericho shouts, “Get the hell out of my arena, you piece of sh*t!” Cassidy gives a thumbs up, to make it a thumbs down! Jericho asks what Cassidy is really going to do, and down comes a MASSIVE amount of orange juice and orange pulp from the roof! Ortiz looks like he’s drowning and floundering in it!

Jericho is furious with Cassidy, but Hager holds him back. “This jacket costs $7000!!” Get up, Ortiz! Jericho needs a towel! Someone throws an Orange Cassidy beach towel to him! Will Jericho get revenge for the disrespect without giving Cassidy the rematch we all want?

Backstage interview with Jurassic Express.

Jungle Boy, Luchasaurus and Marko Stunt have a huge match-up with The Elite tonight, but what is so funny? Stunt says it’s the Inner Circle getting drenched in orange juice! That’s the funniest thing he’s seen! Luchasaurus admits, it’s funny. But after 65 million years, this dinosaur finally has a chance against The Elite, and there’s nothing funny about that. Is JB ready? Yeah. Does Stunt have his kick pads? No… Well whatever, let’s go! Will the Jurassic Express stay on track in 2020?

Chris Jericho angrily joins commentary.

“Look at me, Jim Ross!” His jacket is ruined! And then Stunt was laughing at him!? Just wait and see what happens to Cassidy, Luchasaurus, Jungle Boy “and that little puke” later! Jericho reeks of OJ, JR! Yes, clearly. Don’t laugh, Excalibur! NO, no replay! Replay happens from many angles. Not to mention the towel. Jericho is all sticky and angry. “This is not over between me and Orange Cassidy, I’ll tell you that. There will be a rematch!” So Jericho changes his mind! Has Cassidy just put himself in a sticky situation?

Six Man Tag: The Elite VS Jurassic Express!

Kenny Omega is also still a bit angry and sticky from that beer bath by FTR. Will he keep his cool and make this Elite reunion victorious? Or will Jungle Jack Perry, the wrestling dinosaur and Mr. Fun-Size get the biggest trios win they’ve had yet?

The trios sort out and Nick Jackson starts against Jungle Boy. They circle and tie up, Nick wrenches to a wristlock but JB handsprings to wrench back. Is there something happening in Omega’s mind no one can understand?

Backstage interview with Hikaru Shida.

The AEW Women’s World Champion is in a unique situation. Four out of the five top contenders are unable to compete for various reasons! Is Shida ready to give Nyla that rematch? Well yeah, always ready. But it doesn’t have to be her. The roster is a bit depleted right now, so anyone can challenge Shida. If you think you’re tough enough and have the passion, find Shida. She’s waiting. Will someone step up to this open challenge? Or will Nyla storm her way to the front of the line and get her rematch?

AEW hears from Jon Moxley.

“For the last several weeks, I’ve not been the best for yours truly, and I’ve been pissed off and bent out of shape for a great many things!” But tonight, Moxley gets to purge all that frustration, hit and get hit, feel the adrenaline, live on the edge of a lightning bolt, and defend his AEW World Championship! You can’t take anything for granted. Tonight they fight for the fallen. Friends, loved ones, heroes, the people we care about. Moxley has a hell of a challenger in The Machine, Brian Cage. Now according to #TechniqueByTaz, Mox won’t be able to hit Cage with the Paradigm Shift because Cage is just too big and strong. Well okay, Moxley won’t worry about that. Moxley will rip Cage’s biceps in two.

Taz remembers the recently repaired biceps that kept Cage on the shelf for months, right? Mox promises to rip it clean off the bone! “Enjoy the hospital.” Will the Maniac break the Machine in this long-awaited title match?

Nyla Rose is here!

The Native Beast is back, and Dasha is in the ring to conduct this exclusive in-ring interview. We know from last week, the former champion, Nyla, announced she was hiring a manager. Are we learning who that is this week? Wow, after “rubbing salt in the wound” about her being a former champion that she’d give us privileged, sensitive information? Nyla is not telling any of us anything yet. Because the manager will speak for themselves. The manager of the Native Beast is… “The Cougar,” VICKIE GUERRERO! “Excuuuuse meee!!” Yes, THAT Vickie is here! She is officially part of AEW, but she is NOT going to tell us about the strategy she has planned for Nyla. But when they are ready to go after the women’s title, “it will be the perfect time.”

And now that it is official, Vickie has a message for the women’s locker room. “From this moment on, ladies, I am begging you to stop lying to yourselves about how great you are.” You must admit that you are not smart enough to cheat to win. And lastly, Nyla is going to steal every opportunity they have ever dreamed of! Vickie’s evil laugh returns, but will she be the key to Nyla returning to the top?

AEW has another big episode planned next week!

For starters, another AEW TNT Championship defense is coming! Who steps up to take on Cody Rhodes after seeing how vicious he was with Sonny Kiss? Hangman Page is in singles competition against The Dark Order’s Number 5, aka Alan Angels, and Brodie Lee will be by his side. Will the Cowboy be able to do some #CowboyShit with The Exalted One watching? AEW has a new signee in the Women’s Division as IVELISSE will debut against Diamante! Will the Baddest Bitch #Bow2None? MJF is back in action, will he keep that undefeated streak going? And while FTR and Lucha Brothers had their 2v2, it’s time for The Bucks and the mercs to do the same! Will Matt & Nick Jackson still be standing when they take on The Butcher & The Blade in FALLS COUNT ANYWHERE?

Plus, after the laughter had at Jericho’s expense, he and Big Hurt, Jake Hager, take on Jurassic Express’ Jungle Boy and Luchasaurus! Will Le Champion get another win to keep his status as #DemoGod?

AEW World Championship: Jon Moxley VS Brian Cage w/ Taz!

“Who can stop the Path of Cage?” The Machine is still FTW Champion after actually putting that title on the line as part of AEW Dark, and demands it be announced as such. Justin Roberts gives him that intro, but will Cage add an official AEW title to his resume? We find out after the break.

AEW returns and Taz has the mic. “So we are moments away from Brian Cage getting the opportunity that he earned. An opportunity at the AEW World Championship.” Moxley was chirping earlier some “propaganda bullsh*t” about the Machine not being 100%. Oh please. While Mox was quarantining with the wifey, Cage was wrestling on a regular schedule and training his ass off. So enough talk! Mox, come on down and bring that pretty AEW world title. Moxley makes his entrance from the stairs way behind the stands, sporting a Danny Havoc shirt to pay tribute to one of the fallen he spoke of. The second Moxley gets in the ring, Cage swings on him! Moxley hits back and the bell rings to put this on record!

Cage throws Moxley to a corner, Moxley dodges and throws fast hands back. Moxley whips, runs in but Cage clobbers him first! The crowd boos but Cage drags Moxley up to ram him into a corner! Cage rams Moxley with his shoulder, then throws point blank clotheslines! He reels Mox out to CLOBBER again! “Who better than Cage?!” The crowd boos but Moxley goes after the arm! Cage powers him off, scoops him for a few curls, then FALL AWAY SLAMS him! Cage stalks Moxley, brings him up and whips him to a corner. Cage runs corner to corner, BIG uppercut and an enziguri! Moxley holds ropes to avoid the suplex and then elbows back. Moxley BOOTS Cage, hops up and leaps to missile dropkick!

Moxley throws off the shirt and stalks Cage to the apron. Moxley has the arm in the ropes, to SNAP against those ropes! Cage writhes and Moxley goes after the arm more, throwing it on the mat. Moxley jams the arm and drags Cage up to wrench and shoulder breaker. Moxley snapmares, runs and Penalty Kicks! Cover, ONE, but Moxley goes for the armbar! Cage rolls to ground ‘n’ pound back! Cage lets up, drags Moxley backup, and SAIDO SUPLEXES! Cage drags Moxley around, brings him up, but Moxley blocks the suplex to wrench and hotshot the arm! Moxley POSTS Cage and Cage falls to the floor!

Moxley throws forearms and CHOPS back, then puts the arm through the railing gap! The ref reprimands, but Moxley BOOTS the arm! Cage clutches that arm while Moxley rearranges some barriers. Moxley leans one against the apron and brings Cage over. Moxley wants to suplex but Cage blocks and turns it around. Moxley blocks and turns it around, to underhook! Cage switches out, to GERMAN SUPLEX Moxley onto the railing! Moxley is down as AEW goes picture in picture, #MOXLEYvsMACHINE.

My Thoughts:

Another incredible episode for an incredible three week streak! We got some intrigue right away with Cody wrestling a much more brutal match against Sonny Kiss. I suppose they’re trying to show Cody is feeling the pressure of this workhorse schedule already, but again it’s a matter of pacing with his storytelling. I would’ve made Cody get anxious and edgy like this a few weeks from now. He should ride a bit high but as we start building towards All Out, the pressure starts mounting so that Cody will be obsessed with returning to what is essentially the third anniversary of this brand’s inception. Tully’s interest in Cody’s match, as well as FTR’s, furthers the rumors (not intentional) that AEW will create their own take on The Four Horsemen with those three and Shawn Spears as the four. Not a bad idea, but we’ll have to wait and see.

FTR VS Lucha Brothers was incredible stuff, especially with Dax’s chest bleeding very early into the match. The Butcher and Blade being ringside of course cued The Bucks showing up to get back at them. I didn’t see Omega’s part coming, though I swear I spotted him at the end of the 8 Man Tag for Fyter Fest and he had the same cooler. Maybe that part got cut for time considerations and they managed to make up for it here. Either way, great stuff, especially with FTR hanging out with Hangman and Omega more or less snapping on Marko Stunt. That Six Man was incredible, definitely proof AEW can do a Trios Division, but what a twist if Omega was the one to turn Heel and therefore turn on Hangman and the others.

Hikaru Shida unofficially issuing an open challenge was an interesting move. Granted, it does seem there are reasons Nyla is the only contender standing, and yet she also wants to take her time getting back with the help of her new manager. I should have felt Vickie Guerrero becoming that manager, she is too good to pass up. The Nightmare Sisters have another win over random teams that are mostly jobbers. I think they are waiting for QT to return if there is going to be a betrayal by Allie, if that’s happening at all. The women’s division is also growing stronger with Diamante moving up from Dark and Ivelisse joining the roster! Those two were hanging out in the crowd so don’t be surprised if they become a duo, too. AEW Women’s Tag titles as part of year two?

I love everything with Orange Cassidy, Chris Jericho and that HUGE amount of orange juice dumped on him! Jericho is amazing at being dramatic, just saying stuff about Cassidy and Jurassic Express and so on. Jericho VS Cassidy II will be an incredible match, and I feel like Cassidy wins the rematch, because that’s half the reason to have one. Then the tiebreaker could even act as an unofficial contender’s match, depending on who is holding what. Cody defending his TNT Championship against either would make for a great All Out match.

Moxley VS Cage was a great main event, and while it felt a given that Moxley would win, I was surprised by Taz throwing in the towel. It was quite the surprise for Darby to show up, especially with full on Undertaker/Bray Wyatt lights off then on treatment. As I said for Dark, maybe Darby challenges for the FTW Championship since Cage and Taz are at least treating it as a title for AEW. I don’t think Darby wins that, but I’m still waiting for him and Moxley to further an alliance. Death Riders with Moxley, Darby and NJPW’s “Shooter” Shota Umino to give continuity to Moxley’s career between the two companies!

My Score: 9.4/10
