Take a look at the biggest marketing ideas in WWE history!

WWE has built a reputation as one of the best-known and most profitable entertainment organizations in the world. Large pay-per-view events are watched by millions, with the organization boasting fans in several countries around the world. There are many reasons for their success, but here are a few clever ideas that have helped them along the way.

WWE Network – for free

Earlier this year WWE took the unprecedented step of announcing that fans would be able to access thousands of hours of content from the WWE Network – and best of all – they would not have to pay a thing. The cost of the WWE Network has been a barrier for fans in the past, yet the announcement paved the way for many to have the ability to watch every single WrestleMania, other pay-per-view events, and much more. The network will no doubt hope that improving the ease of access to their content will result in more fans showing an interest in WWE.

Bingo Cards

In 2017, prior to WrestleMania 33, WWE released a downloadable set of bingo cards for fans to use whilst watching the show. The card mentioned things that may happen, like ‘live musical entrance’ or ‘live animal sighting’, with fans ticking off each individual entry as they happened. Games of online bingo in the UK are extremely popular, where sites offer a variety of games with different themes that draw in players with all kinds of different interests. The game is simple and well-known around the world. As an interactive tool to keep fans engaged, bingo cards were a smart move from the WWE.

Trading Cards

It is clear that many WWE fans first found a love for wrestling when they were young, and often carry on this interest well into adulthood. In this sense, trading cards are a genius move in a marketing sense. Collectable cards introduce fans to the individual wrestlers and encourage fans to keep an active interest in the WWE as they look to improve their collection. Much like baseball, wrestling has benefitted enormously from the presence of trading cards.

Video Games

Whether it be the WWE games, SmackDown! vs Raw, or any other video game, the use of gaming as a way of furthering WWE’s appeal has been an unmitigated success. Many fans found a love for wrestling after playing a video game with friends, and the series has also been hugely profitable for the organization.

Hall of Fame

The Hall of Fame is a much-loved aspect of WWE, and a great opportunity to acknowledge some of the best wrestlers of all time. Having first taken place in 1993 when Andre the Giant was inducted, the Hall of Fame has also helped as a talking point for fans who enjoy discussing which wrestlers are worthy of a spot in the Hall of Fame.
WWE is one of the biggest and most innovative sports entertainment enterprises in the world and continues to succeed in keeping fans enticed with engaging content and merchandise. With unique and engaging ideas like the ones listed here, the success of the organization is sure to continue long into the future.

Badlands square

Mags and Tolley return with another episode of Badlands.

Firstly, they discuss Dan Griffin’s (follow him on Twitter @DanGriffin21) Owen Hart fantasy booking, before going over Mags’s vision for the Undisputed Era on the main roster of WWE. Tolley didn’t do his homework, so got off scot free. Typical!
