It’s the All Out Buy-In!

Join Tony Schiavone and Dasha in discussing, analyzing and predicting tonight’s action!

We hear from MJF.

“Here we are my friend.” All Out 2020, “two undefeated bulls locking horns. Two men who will go down as the greatest who have ever graced this sport.” Jon Moxley VS Maxwell Jacob Friedman. Everyone fell for MJF’s injury tricks because they’re all “smooth brained idiots.” MJF proved he can get violent like Moxley, but that’s what he won’t do tonight. He’ll instead just beat Moxley like a dog on a leash. Moxley is a goon, and MJF will make sure this does not spill out of the ring or turn into a brawl.

MJF says Moxley has one kill shot. Moxley thinks he can tap or snap MJF, but he can’t. MJF knows every single reversal in the book! MJF will out wrestle Mox. Kill or be killed, just as Mox said. But as MJF said, bad things happen to those who get in MJF’s way. “Tonight, we get a real paradigm shift. Because I’m better than you, and you know it.” But will MJF prove it later tonight?

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves, because before the wedding is the bachelor party. And the bachelor party means a best man. Who is the best man? Good question, “Adam” Marvez, whose real first name is Alex. But a best man is truly that. He has to be trustworthy, know the groom very well and share similar interests. And handsome, too. Because wedding pictures last forever. Kip scoured his extensive list of contacts, and knows we all want to know. This Wednesday, Kip will let us know. This isn’t just Kip’s best man, this is THE best man ever! Who will be the Superbad Best Man to arrange the Superbad Bachelor Party? Please subscribe to Kip on Twitch, by the way.

Are they in or out? “Think about it.” Omega gets in the car and demands his driver get going. What is going on with The Elite?

Mimosa Mayhem Match: Chris Jericho VS Orange Cassidy!

This is perhaps the most unique tiebreaker match you’ll ever see anywhere! Le Champion knew it would take something truly spectacular to settle this score, so he invented this brand new match type! Perhaps two of the greatest stars, attractions and characters in wrestling are going to take this to a new level! Pin, submission, or fall into the 500 gallon tank of mimosa, who makes history while taking the series?

Before the match, Marvez interviews Jericho backstage. Jericho hushes Marvez to tell him no one wants to hear Marvez talk. Tonight is the first-ever-anywhere Mimosa Mayhem! After 14 weeks of Cassidy VS Jericho, “it wasn’t a storyline, it wasn’t a feud, it wasn’t a program. It was an experiment.” Jericho wanted to see if he could make Orange Cassidy “into a legit main event draw here in AEW.” And after these last 14 weeks of beating each other, dumping liquid on each other, attacking each other, and everything in between, Jericho honestly feels that Cassidy IS a legit draw! You’re welcome.

But tonight, Cassidy finds what Le Champion does: “I make main event stars, I make dreams come true, and I also end them.” This Freshly Squeezed Experiment ends when Jericho hits Cassidy in the face with a Judas Effect, makes him tap out to the Walls of Jericho, and then throws his “lazy ass” into 500 gallons of orange juice and champagne. Cassidy did a great job, just not good enough. He’s done, at the hands of the Demo God. Jericho makes his entrance, Floyd the Baseball Bat in hand, and history is once again written before our very eyes!

Jericho flips off Freshly Squeezed fans while taking off the jacket and gloves. The fans do chant, “Thank You, Jericho!” but in dueling chants with the Cassidy fans. Jericho SMASHES the tray to pieces on Cassidy’s head! Fans are torn between cheers and jeers.

Both men slowly rise, Cassidy ROCKS him with haymakers! Cassidy whips Jericho all the way into railing on the far side! Jericho crashes hard and might have even taken a header. Cassidy hurries over but Jericho uses a chair to SMACK Cassidy away! Jericho has Cassidy at the other mimosa tank and throws haymakers. Jericho climbs up, drags Cassidy up to join him, and throws more haymakers. Cassidy wobbles but punches back! Jericho wobbles but punches again! Both men wobble and throw punches! Jericho catches his breath while fans duel. Jericho punches away on Cassidy but Cassidy hits back! Cassidy hops up, leaps, but Jericho blocks the rana! Cassidy fights out of the bomb but Jericho BOMBS him on the stage! Jericho dead lifts, Cassidy keeps fighting, so Jericho BOMBS Cassidy through the serving table! And the champagne bottle on top! Cassidy is down but Jericho has to again catch his breath. Jericho drags Cassidy up and over but Cassidy resists! Cassidy’s face is in the mimosa but he hits back! Cassidy and Jericho slowly rise, and Jericho has Floyd! Jericho aims at Cassidy, but Cassidy SUPERKICKS him first! Cassidy is careful of the mimosa tank as he grabs the bucket. Jericho gets up and Cassidy CLOBBERS him with the champagne bucket!

Jericho falls into the ring, Cassidy follows and throws haymakers! Cassidy has Jericho on the ropes, whips him but Jericho holds ropes to stop himself. Cassidy runs in, Jericho tosses him out but Cassidy holds on! Jericho triangle dropkicks but Cassidy still stays up! Jericho runs in but Cassidy slingshot sunset flips! High stack, TWO! Cassidy is even more fired up, tilt-o-whirl DDT! Cover, TWO!! Jericho survives but Cassidy is too tired to be frustrated. Fans rally up, Cassidy gets up first and goes out to the apron. Cassidy climbs up, bad back slowing him down again. Cassidy leaps, into a CODE BREAKER! Cover, TWO!?! Cassidy survives and Jericho can’t believe it! Jericho argues with the ref, Aubrey Edwards, but that’s par for the course. Jericho rains down rights on Cassidy then drags Cassidy back up. Jericho scoops, aims, but Cassidy grabs ropes to stop the lawn dart!

Jericho uppercuts and clubs Cassidy then climbs up from the outside. Jericho drags Cassidy into a crucifix, but Cassidy slips down! Cassidy ORANGE PUNCHES Jericho!! Jericho holds on for dear life, so Cassidy gets serious! ORANGE PUNCH!! Jericho SPLASHES DOWN into the mimosa, Cassidy WINS!

Winner: Orange Cassidy, by mimosa dunk

What a win!! Cassidy breaks the tie, and now Jericho will have to eat crow and wash it down with some mimosa! Jericho said it himself, he made Cassidy into a main event player! Will Cassidy soon find himself in a main event involving a title?

AEW World Championship: Jon Moxley VS MJF w/ Wardlow!

Maxwell Jacob Friedman not only thinks he’s better than you, and you know it, but he also thinks he is better for you than the “Fighting Pride of Eastside Cincinnati” as the face of AEW. MJF wants to be on top of AEW for the next 25 years, and that is admirable, but Moxley won’t let it be at his expense. MJF also claims the Paradigm Shift is too dangerous, and he managed to get Moxley to sign a contract banning that move! Will he find that Moxley has plenty of other tools at his disposal? Or will he make good on all the “campaign promises” he has made?

The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and this fight for the future of AEW begins!

Direct hit sends MJF into barriers!

Wardlow stays put as he glares at Moxley. Moxley headlocks MJF and hooks the mouth, to then crotch MJF on the railing! Moxley then LARIATS MJF off the railing! Moxley taunts Wardlow to do something and get MJF disqualified. Wardlow stays put and Moxley throws forearms on MJF. MJF staggers around th eway, his plan not working out now as Moxley CHOPS and RAMS Him into railing! THe railing flops over like earlier tonight! Moxley gets up, works to get the bad arm moving and the fans rally up behind him. MJF is annoyed, but he distracts the ref so Wardlow can put Moxley in. MJF stomps Moxley’s bad arm!

MJF paces as fans boo, but MJF hooks Moxley’s face. The ref counts, MJF stops at 3, but then takes the bad arm to drop knees on it! Cover, TWO! MJF tells the Gunn Club to suck it before he goes back to Moxley and the arm. MJF has another keylock, Moxley endures as fans rally again.

Moxley fights up, ROCKS MJF with that right, but has to back away again. Moxley CHOPS back but MJF rakes the eyes! MJF whips Moxley corner to corner and wring out the arm into buckles! Cover, TWO! Moxley gets to the apron, MJF argues the count but MJF runs the ropes to knock Moxley off all the way to those downed railing! The ring count starts, Moxley slowly gets back up as MJF does the belt motion. MJF mocks Moxley and heads out to get him. “I thought you were hardcore, dips*it.” Moxley RAMS MJF into the apron! And then trips him up to catapult him into the POST! MJF bounces off, fans fire up and Moxley gets back in the ring to rest his arm. Moxley gets to the far corner to work on the shoulder. MJF is BUSTED OPEN and is bleeding a lot already!

Wardlow helps MJF up and in but Moxley is a shark with literal blood in the water. MJF wants mercy but Moxlehy corner clotheslines! Moxley whips but MJF reverses. Moxley boots, KNEES MJF and then has to remember not to Paradigm Shift. So he X-PLEXES! Cover, TWO! Moxley keeps his cool, drags MJF back up, reels him in and fires himself up! Gotch lift, but the bad arm stops it! MJF bails out and Moxley pursues. Moxley keeps MJF from getting in the ring, MJF calls him an idiot, but MJF is the one who runs into the SCRAPBUSTER! Both men are down, fans rally up and Moxley drags MJF back up. Moxley puts MJF in, works out the bad arm, but MJF again asks for mercy. Moxley doesn’t show it so MJF goes after the bad arm!

Moxley powers out, Gotch lift PILEDRIVER! Cover, TWO!?! MJF survives the shout out to Minoru Suzuki but his blood is all over Moxley’s body. Moxley gets up, dares MJF to stand, and then BITES THE WOUND!! The ref counts, Moxley lets up at 4 and spits the blood! Moxley goes back to MJF, hoists him up top, then climbs up to join him. MJF resists, and BITES FINGERS! Moxley stumbles off and MJF DUMDUM STOMPS the arm!! MJF hobbles over to go after the arm but Moxley resists the takedown. Moxley throws haymakers but MJF throws hands back. They brawl back and forth, MJF SMACKS the bad arm! Moxley hits back with forearms from all sides! It does hurt the bad one, though, and MJF ducks to throat chop and kick a leg out. SUPERKICK!

MJF runs, into a forearm! But he rebounds, only for Moxley to dodge and SNAP GERMAN! And LARIAT!! Cover, TWO!! MJF survives as Moxley could not use his arms to hook legs! Both men are down but Moxley sits up as fans rally. Moxley gets the bad arm moving, fans actually duel as there are some MJF supporters here. Moxley paces, fires himself up because “I live for this s*it!” MJF stirs, Moxley dares him to stand. MJF sits up to SPIT in Moxley’s face. Moxley seethes, drags MJF up but the ref has to tell him he can’t use the Paradigm shift! Moxley lets go, but MJF gets the arm!! SALT OF THE EARTH FUJIWARA!! And he even BITES the fingers! Moxley endures, claws, crawls, and MJF twists the wrist as much as he can!

MJF puts as much leverage as he can on the arm, then drags Moxley away to grapevine the arm now! Moxley keeps fighting, crawling, reaching, and gets the ROPEBREAK! MJF holds on until 4, and is frustrated as Moxley gets to the apron. Fans rally up again as Moxley stands. MJF stands, but Moxley grabs his throat! MJF hotshots the arms, and gives Moxley the HEATSEEKER!! Cover, TWO!!! Moxley still lives and MJF is losing his cool! A standing count begins as both men are down again. Wardlow gets on the apron, throws the Dynamite Diamond Ring in but MJF fumbles it. The ref is distracted, PARADIGM SHIFT!!! Cover, Moxley wins!!

Winner: Jon Moxley, by pinfall (still AEW World Champion)

Turnabout is fair play! MJF wanted to screw Moxley over, but Moxley got him first! Moxley knows we now, but he just shrugs to the cameras. And now, the Maniac and the Murderhawk Monster are going to collide! We saw those two go to war in NJPW, will it be even wilder in AEW?

My Thoughts:

I don’t know if All Out went all out, but it definitely went hard! I could’ve sworn the Tooth ‘n’ Nail was advertised for the Buy-In, but I like that it got upgraded to main card and opened the show. The Buy-In matches we got instead were really good, and the Tooth ‘n’ Nail match was a lot of fun. Swole wins so I feel like she should be next up for a title shot after we got that incredible Champion VS Champion match for the AEW title. I already knew Rosa was incredible from her work just about everywhere, and Shida getting the win is big for her. The Bucks and Jurassic Express had a great match, but it seemed natural for the Bucks to win. But it was surprising that they were actually unsure of what Omega was doing after the also incredible tag title match. FTR win the belts so that their eventual match with Bucks can be for gold, but I feel like even the Bucks are surprised Omega is going down some other path. Is The Cleaner coming back meaner than ever?

The Casino Battle Royal was a lot of fun, it’s great to see Matt Sydal have a part to play, but wow that was scary when his Shooting Star misfired. Gotta check those ropes better, even if there was a lot of excitement going on. Archer winning makes a lot of sense, as he hasn’t lost since the TNT Championship match with Cody, and he’s already had experience against Moxley in NJPW over the IWGP United States Championship, which Moxley still actually has. Then things got scary again with the Broken Rules match. I don’t think they thought the table spot through all the way, they should’ve had a second table there as back-up. But thankfully Hardy was okay, at least enough to do what I imagine was a summarized version of that match. Obviously Hardy was going to win, though, he can’t leave AEW after practically just getting there.

The 8 Man Tag was a lot more fun than I expected, though I probably should’ve expected this. I am surprised the Dark Order lost, but I do like that it adds some dimension to the story with Cabana. Dustin getting the nod for the TNT Championship match this Wednesday is great and can also add dimension to the story with Cody, whenever it is Cody returns. On one hand, Dustin could lose and Brodie rubs that in, as having beaten both Rhodes brothers. On the other, Dustin finds a way to win, he and Cody have a rematch from a year ago for the title. Cassidy and Jericho had a great match, even considering this was the first-ever Mimosa Mayhem. Jericho put Cassidy over in his promo, sorta, and then put Cassidy over in the match, so that’s great for Cassidy. But I wonder if this is really over at just 2-1. Jericho seems like a sore loser and will insist on extending this, hopefully into Blood & Guts.

And then the main event! Moxley and MJF did a great job, and boy did MJF bleed! He was supposedly busted open from the catapult-into-post spot, but then it stopped bleeding, until Moxley unleashed those headbutts! I almost thought Moxley was going to forget about the Paradigm Shift ban in the heat of the moment, and him remembering added some great character details. I actually liked that Moxley cheated the cheater since MJF was going to use the diamond ring on him. MJF can easily bring this up but I feel like Archer will make things “easier” by intimidating MJF and/or destroying him with a Blackout bomb. Archer and Moxley bringing their NJPW feud to AEW is great, but I’m thinking they have it out long before Full Gear in November. Perhaps for a special edition Dynamite before the end of September?

My Score: 9.3/10

IWGP United States Championship: Jon Moxley w/ Eddie Kingston VS Yuji Nagata w/ Ren Narita!

The Death Rider extended this title opportunity to Blue Justice with respect, but did not miss the disrespect given back. Now, NJPW comes to AEW, and we see if the Maniac can turn away the legend in this historic opening contest!

Moxley surprisingly comes out to “Wild Thing” as introductions are made. The IWGP belt is raised, this is under NJPW rules, and the superstition of the number four might be put to the test to open Dynamite!

Moxley draws the line, Nagata steps right to it, and Moxley shoves him. Nagata fires forearms but Moxley gives them back and fans are fired up! Moxley gives boxing elbows, whips Nagata to a corner, and runs in to clothesline! Nagata fires up but Moxley kicks low! Moxley whips, Nagata reverses and kitchen sink knees, then BOOTS Mox down! Nagata stomps, Moxley bails out and fans fire up for Blue Justice! Rocky Romero is here to watch from the bleachers as Nagata goes out. Moxley rakes Nagata’s eyes! The ref reprimands, Moxley lets off and POSTS Nagata! Moxley goes to the apron, takes aim, and leaps for a FLYING KNEE! Down goes Nagata!

Moxley gets Nagata up to throw him into railing, then hurries to refresh the 20 count. Nagata gets up, hobbles over, and gets in at 5 of 20. Moxley smirks as Nagata gets up and eggs him on. Moxley ROCKS Nagata with a forearm, then hits a lariat in the corner! And again! Moxley snapmares, runs, and PENALTY KICKS Nagata down! Moxley drops an elbow, covers, ONE!! Lance Archer and Jake the Snake watch from the bleachers, too, as Moxley dares Nagata to get up. Nagata grits his teeth but Moxley KICKS him! Nagata eggs Moxley on now and the kicks keep flying! Down goes Nagata, Moxley covers, TWO! Moxley digs fingers into Nagata’s face but lets off as the ref counts.

Moxley goes to a corner, hops up, takes aim and leaps, but into a clinch! Moxley fires elbows, Nagata ROCKS him and KICKS him in return! And KICKS! And KICKS! Nagata throws more forearms, he whips corner to corner, and runs in to BOOT Moxley, for the EXPLODER! Cover, TWO! Nagata keeps his cool, drags Moxley up, and reels him in. Moxley blocks the suplex, Nagata fires off forearms! Nagata whips, Moxley reverses, but Nagata rolls to duck! Nagata fakes Moxley out to dropkick the legs! Nagata’s still savvy as he aims again, for a KICK! And a KICK! Kingston coaches Mox and Moxley takes more KICKS!

Moxley grits his teeth and gets to his feet. Nagata throws forearms, Moxley fires back! Nagata ROCKS Moxley but he keeps hitting back! Moxley gets the edge, Nagata gives it back! Nagata runs, Moxley dodges the boot to GERMAN SUPLEX! Moxley wants Nagata to get up and he runs, to LARIAT! Cover, TWO!! Nagata survives and shows us why he’s still hung around this long! Moxley vows to end it, a la Suzuki! But Nagata blocks the piledriver he knows so well! Nagata back drops Moxley away and mule kicks! Nagata runs into the corner to SHINING WIZARD! Nagata hoists Moxley up to the top rope, climbs up to join him, and reels Moxley into a SUPER EXPLODER!!

Moxley sits up, eggs Nagata on, and Nagata KICKS! Cover, TWO!! Moxley survives, Nagata drags him up and reels him in, but Moxley fights the suplex off. Moxley gets a sleeper! Another homage to Suzuki, but Nagata knows that, too! Nagata drops and drags Moxley into a SHIROMEI! The mounted Fujiwara armbar tortures Moxley, Nagata’s eyes roll to the back of his head, but Moxley still reaches out and gets the ropebreak! Nagata lets off, but he isn’t done with Moxley! Nagata wrenches an arm, but Moxley denies the elbow break to forearm! Nagata hits back, they brawl more, and Moxley wobbles. Moxley fires back, runs but into a BOOT! And ENZIGURI!

Moxley rebounds to SLIDING LARIAT! Cover, TWO!! But into the Bully Choke! Nagata fights up to his feet as fans chant “This is Awesome!” Moxley shifts to a full sleeper, bleeding from his cheek where Nagata’s been hitting him. Nagata wrenches free to forearm again! Moxley gives it back, spins and DECKS Nagata! Moxley gets Nagata up for knees to the head, then a DEATH RIDER!! Cover, Moxley wins!!

Winner: Jon Moxley, by pinfall (still IWGP US Champion)

The elevated Paradigm Shift, the Death Rider, helps Moxley hold onto the title! But there is still respect here now that they’ve fought it out! Moxley bows and even drops to his knees, but Nagata returns the favor! Will these two battle it out again in the future? Will another come over from NJPW to try? Will Moxley still knock them all down?

Backstage interview with The Inner Circle.

Tonight, it is only Sammy Guevara, Jake Hager & Ortiz here. After one of the brutal matches in wrestling history, Blood & Guts, what is next? Ortiz says they have a message for The Pinnacle. All five of them were down, the Inner Circle almost had them, but then “a strange twist of fate occurred.” Max showed his true colors by pushing Jericho off the top, and had the audacity to get Santana arrested and detained, just because he stabbed MJF with a fork! MJF is lucky Santana didn’t just scoop that eye out and eat it! BITCH MOVE, MAX!! Hager says that the Pinnacle will have to kill the Inner Circle to stop them! Santana is detained but still alive! Jericho is mangled but still alive! So hide behind the victory tonight, but the Pinnacle has to admit that they failed!

Sammy says this is never gonna be over! As long as both teams are in the same company, the Inner Circle will never stop coming for The Pinnacle! So either MJF gives them another match, or tonight’s title will go from “The Coronation of The Pinnacle” to “The FUNERAL of The Pinnacle!” Give them their rematch, or get put in the grave!! An ultimatum for MJF and his team, but will they heed it?

Cody Rhodes heads to the ring!

Despite the score he needs to settle with The Factory, The American Nightmare has a major announcement for his Double or Nothing 2021 plans! We hear what they are, after the break!

AEW returns and Cody has the mic. “I know it’s rather out of style, patriotism. It’s old hate, demo day, proud of being American.” Fans still chant, “USA! USA!” Cody knows we live in a real world where you can poke fun at stuff, like the antiquated two party system or the most recent election, or even the confusion on what to do during our own National Anthem. But Cody is from a “little red, white ‘n’ blue town just like this one.” Santana, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Snoop Dogg, they all share the same jukebox and Cody has never not been proud to be an American. Fans appreciate that.

But Anthony Ogogo… He has run down and buried the USA with such vitriol and conviction. The irony is that Ogogo has a Visa courtesy of the US DOT, has a paycheck, that green, courtesy of the Treasury, and is afforded all the same rights we all have in that he can say and do what he wants, because this is America. “You talk about division, you talk about argument, from the outside in, we hear that all the time. Take it from an American, the argument is what makes us who we are.” Fans also cheer for that! Yes, there’s anger in every pocket, but our empathy outweighs our apathy.

So Cody asks Ogogo, “You didn’t come here to live the England dream. And I don’t mean to disparage across the pond, they sure know how to make a wrestler. I’ve wrestled some of the best.” Doug Williams, Gabriel Kidd, or even one of the best in the world today, PAC! But in 1986, Cody’s a country music fan and Willie Nelson came out with a song, “Living in the Promised Land.” Send us your tired and weak, we’ll make ’em strong. Sing us your far-off song and we will sing along. But here’s where Cody stops singing: When Ogogo balled up his Olympic medalist fist and put it between his ribs.

Ogogo likes to educate and pontificate on what the USA is? Then let Cody return the favor! The industry that Ogogo joined? It was an Italian immigrant who was world champion for FOUR THOUSAND AND FORTY DAYS. There is so much to love and behold here. The American Dream lives here! What about a 16-year-old young man coming from Pakistan, invents and patents the single-piece bumper, and enriches and cultivates the lives of literally everyone in the city of Jacksonville?

Prior to 1961, in Atlanta, Georgia, there was segregation, White people and Black people couldn’t attend the same schools. But in 2021, in that very same city, Cody and his wife, Brandi, are going to have a beautiful White-Black “American princess” who will have both identities, shun neither, and her dad is going to let her know that he didn’t just lay down under another man’s flag. Her dad didn’t just have a defeatist attitude when someone ran down the USA. Her dad got up off his ass and fought back! This is where we are fighting: at Double or Nothing!

Tony Khan already told the world that Double or Nothing will be full capacity! Wrestling fans will return to their seats, close up and thank God, it’ll be Cody VS Ogogo. But Ogogo won’t be wrestling the American Nightmare. Because for one night, that one night only, Cody picks up a sword that is all too heavy, but one that only Cody and Dustin have the right to pick up. For Double or Nothing, Justin Roberts, nothing on Cody’s presentation will be different, this comes from deep inside. At Double or Nothing, it will be Anthony Ogogo VS the American DREAM, Cody Rhodes! On one night, Cody’s love for family and country become one! Can he use that to shut up and knock down the British boxing box office smash?

AEW hears from SoCal Uncensored.

Christopher Daniels says, “Starting from 2015 up until now, the guys in the van were always myself, Frankie Kazarian, Scorpio Sky, and the Young Bucks. Those were the days where I felt it was family.” But looking at the Bucks acting the way they are now, this is why he feels betrayed and hurt. Frankie Kazarian says, “If you’re gonna be influenced like prepubescent teenagers, by your friend who you perceive as ‘the cool guy,'” then that’s on the Bucks. All that’s left for SCU to do is beat them up.

SCU has made it a challenge to themselves that the next time they lose as a tag team, they are DONE as a tag team! And that’s forever! It isn’t mandated by AEW, this isn’t for story, this is a challenge. They know how good they are, and how good they can be. Undefeated for over four months, #1 contenders that are facing the champions, one of the greatest tag teams on the planet, and also former friends. Do the Bucks even get what’s on the line here? SCU has everything to lose, and everything to gain. The Bucks have seen SCU bleed, sweat and cry, so what do you think they’re gonna do, how far they’re gonna go, to get what they want from the Bucks? We’ll all find out together, because that match is next!!

AEW World Tag Team Championships, Titles VS Tag Career: The Young Bucks w/ The Elite VS SoCal Uncensored!

Matt & Nick Jackson claim they’ve gone back to who they were, but the Fallen Angel & Heavy Metal Rebel say otherwise. The fashion choices, the company they keep, those are all questionable, but the Bucks’ abilities are not! Will they win without a shadow of a doubt and destroy another great tag team? Or will going all or nothing this close to Double or Nothing pay off for Daniels & Kazarian?

The introductions are made, the belts are raised, and it’s titles or bust for SCU!

Kaz and Nick start and fans are on SCU’s side here. They circle, tie up, and Kaz headlocks as Don Callis joins commentary. Kaz spins to a hammerlock then drop toehold, then he slaps Nick on the head! Matt drops knees on Daniels’ head! Matt mocks the fans clapping, and starts thrusting hips before he stomps Daniels down. Matt paces, drags Daniels up and bumps him off buckles, then tags Nick. Matt catapults Daniels into Nick’s GAMANGIRI! Then they combine, springboard DOUBLE STOMPS onto Daniels, driving him into Matt’s knees! Nick taunts Kaz and the ref is busy keeping Kaz back, the Bucks fake a tag! Matt digs his boots into Daniels’ head, the ref counts and Matt apologizes. Matt defends he is the rightful tag partner, but Nick is choking Daniels behind the ref’s back! Matt tags Nick in so the ref can see, then they combine for the slingshot senton and fist drop!

Matt keeps mocking fans rallying for SCU, Nick taunts Kaz, and then Nick bumps Daniels off buckles. Nick wrenches, whips, but Daniels reverses. Nick flips through the ropes and comes back but into Daniels’ STO! Both men are down, they crawl, hot tags to Kaz and Matt! Kaz dodges Matt to ROCK Nick, then he DECKS Matt! Kaz rallies on the Bucks with clotheslines, but Matt reverses the whip, only for Kaz to BLAST him with forearms! Kaz scoops and SLAMS Nick, to springboard leg drop! Cover, TWO! Kaz keeps fired up nd the fans are with him! Kaz gets Nick up and puts him in a corner, tag to Daniels.

AEW returns to single picture as Kaz feeds Nick to Daniels’ back elbow! Daniels hops up, Kaz helps set Nick up with double knuckle locks, for the FLYING STOMP! Daniels WRECKS Matt with a dropkick now, and SCU double whip to hip toss and NECKBREAKER BOMB COMBO! Cover, TWO!! Nick survives but Daniels tags Kaz in. Matt runs in, he saves Nick from Celebrity Rehab but swings into CELEBRITY REHAB for himself! Daniels runs to forearm Nick, then gets him up to give to Kaz. Kaz has the gut wrench, but Matt shoves Daniels off the corner! Kaz swings on Matt, Matt avoids that to shoulder in, but into the GUILLOTINE LEG DROP!

Nick aims and SHINING WIZARDS, ROUNDHOUSES and forearms Kaz, to then BULLDOG! Nick goes up and out to PENALTY KICK Daniels from the apron! Fans boo and Nick shoulders into Kaz. Nick slingshots, for the FACEBUSTER! Nick soaks up the heat and he sees Daniels is back up. Nick goes outside to SUPERKICK Daniels into the post! Daniels is busted open!! Nick is shocked at the damage he just did, but he says that was awesome! “It’s a wrap!” Nick goes back to Kaz in the ring, but Kaz slingshots Nick in for a CUTTER!! Cover, TWO!! Kaz almost caught Nick but he sees what happened to Daniels!

Kaz goes back to Nick but Nick ROUNDHOUSES! Kaz wobbles, Matt tags in, and Matt gets a look at Daniels for himself. Matt hurries to get Kaz up, BUCKLE BOMB ENZIGURI COMBO! Kaz staggers into Matt’s fireman’s carry, MORE BANG- NO! Kaz slips out of the fireman’s carry to waistlock and O’Conner Roll! TWO, Nick leaps in, but Kaz gets both Bucks for NORTHERN LIGHTS O’CONNER COMBO!! Double cover, TWO!!! That was almost it but not enough! Kaz dumps Nick out to the ramp, Matt scoops but Kaz cradle counters! So the GOOD BROTHERS distract the ref!! This is at least 7 before Kaz lets off! Kaz runs Gallows off, but runs into Matt’s BOOT!

Matt goes up, but Kaz catches him for a… Not a bomb? A STYLES CLASH!?!? A shout-out to another old friend of The Elite! Cover, Nick barely breaks it in time!! Fans are thunderous, “This is Awesome!” Nick gets Kaz up, Kaz throws him out and slingshots him in, but no cutter! Nick blocks it, and feeds Kaz to Matt’s SUPERKICK! Matt gut wrenches, TOMBSTONE! SHINING WIZARD! Cover, DANIELS breaks it!! Daniels is still here, crimson mask and all, and he dodges a superkick to kick, underhook, ANGEL’S WINGS!! Daniels staggers up and helps Kaz to their corner! Daniels tags back in, but how much can Daniels give?! Matt SPEARS Daniels down, and punches the wound!!

Matt is furious as he demands Daniels get up! Daniels wobbles, Matt powers up, but no kick! Daniels kicks low, hooks, but his back is giving up! Matt back drops free! Matt wags his finger, looms over Daniels, and Callis is more worried about the new ring gear getting blood stains. Matt points it out, too! Karl Anderson gets on the apron, Daniels DECKS him! Daniels staggers, drags Matt up, but Matt SPRAYS Daniels in the face?!? Somehow, Brandon Cutler slipped Matt a can of that cold spray!! Daniels staggers about, Matt SUPERKICKS Kaz off the corner, then CAN SHOTS Daniels in the head!! Cover, TWO?!?!? Daniels is not giving up, this is how much the titles AND SCU mean to him!! Nick tags in, the Bucks are furious as they sit Daniels up, for the B T E TRIGGER!! Cover, Matt blocks Kaz, the Bucks win!

Winners: The Young Bucks, by pinfall (still AEW World Tag Team Champions)

Kaz is stunned, and Cutler has the audacity to use the cold spray on the Bucks right away! SCU lost the match, don’t have the titles, and are no longer a team under their own bet with themselves! What does this mean for the Fallen Angel and Heavy Metal Rebel in the future?

AEW cameras hurry to catch what’s developing backstage!

Eddie Kingston is at The Elite’s dressing room, Moxley right behind! They barge in, and trash it all! The Elite aren’t here yet, but their stuff is, so everything is fair game! Why do they have a Jaguars helmet? Kingston throws that into a wall, Moxley goes to the bathroom to trash everything in there! Will The Elite have the guts to respond to that tonight? Or at all?

Backstage interview with Christian Cage.

Captain Charisma has had his issues with Taz, from the rejected recruitment to last week’s biased Technique By Taz segment, critiquing Christian’s wrestling abilities. It had as much credibility as Christian critiquing Taz’s ability at a buffet table. Nobody is denying that at one point in time, Taz was a bad, bad man. But right now, Taz isn’t going to step through the ropes, back up what he is saying, but Christian is! So here’s how it is: Tony Khan gave Christian an open contract for a match. Next week, Team Taz can send anyone they want, Christian will be waiting.

But what Christian really wants to talk about right now is Double or Nothing’s Casino Battle Royale. Did you know that the winner of that match gets a shot at THE AEW World Championship whenever they want? Christian is all in, all the chips on the table! Christian vows to win that match and- Matt Sydal walks in to say Christian shouldn’t get too far ahead of himself. Matt’s back in that match, too, and he wants redemption. Well good to see you again, Matt, and yeah, Christian saw how things didn’t go so well for him. But things aren’t going to fall into place for him. Haha, hilarious. But Matt has a surprise for Christian. Not a Hall of Fame worthy one, but still.

Matt says to forget about Team Taz for a minute, because HE signed the open contract on the match. So before winning the battle royal, Matt will beat Christian and his #OutWorkEverybody hype train, live on Dynamite. The third eye is staring Captain Charisma down, who will be the first to blink?

AEW World Championship Eliminator Match: PAC VS Orange Cassidy!

The Bastard has beef with the Best Bout Machine going back to Dynamite’s inception, and is one of the only men to have a win over him in AEW. On the other hand, Freshly Squeezed didn’t have any grudge with Omega until Omega disrespected him last week. And when it comes to PAC VS Cassidy, these two have history of their own! Who gets one up on the other before going after Omega’s gold?

The bell rings and fans are dueling already as Cassidy and Pac stare down. Cassidy takes off the sunglasses, and puts them on Pac! Pac takes them off, and BREAKS them with his bare hands! Cassidy raises his hands, but it’s a fake out to get Pac to swing on him! Cassidy dodges, gets Pac up in the Alabama, BEACH BREAK!! Cover, TWO!! Pac’s arrogance cost him and he bails out of the ring. Fans are fired up as Cassidy puts his hands in his pockets and builds speed! NO HANDS DIVE! And he has SPARE sunglasses! Fans are even more fired up as Cassidy gets Pac up and RAMS him into railing!

AEW goes picture in picture as Cassidy checks with the ref about the ring count. Cassidy fetches Pac, to RAM him into more railing! Cassidy refreshes the ring count, stalks up behind Pac and gets him up, but Pac KNEES low and hard! Pac whips but Cassidy reverses to send Pac into even more railing! Pac is perhaps too sore to be upset, and Cassidy keeps track of the count. Cassidy whips Pac back the other way to send him over the railing! Cassidy paces, refreshes the count again, and sees Pac getting up. Cassidy heads over, and Pac HOTSHOTS him on railing! Cassidy sputters and gasps, Pac stomps him down, and AEW goes to break!

AEW returns and Cassidy is down on the outside again. Pac fetches him, to whip him hard into railing! The ref counts, fans boo, and Pac drags Cassidy up and around to throw him into more railing! Pac soaks up the heat, drags Cassidy back up and back into the ring. Fans are still on Cassidy’s side but Pac stomps him down! Pac soaks up the heat, digs his knee into Cassidy’s head, and uses ropes for leverage! The ref counts, Pac lets off at 4, and Orange is now red in the face. Pac climbs a corner, aims as fans rally up, and Cassidy stands to get a missile dropkick! Pac kips up with ease! He glares at the ref and then goes to another corner.

Pac climbs up again, aims, and again missile dropkicks Cassidy down! Cassidy is a lump but Pac isn’t done with him yet. Pac climbs back up top, Cassidy stands again, to get a third missile dropkick! Cover, TWO! Pac seethes as Cassidy survives but the ref defends the count was fair. Fans sing for Cassidy but Pac drags him to a drop zone. Pac climbs up again, but Cassidy slowly rolls away to the far side. Pac hops down to hurry over and stomp him down! Fans boo, Pac scowls and climbs back up. Cassidy is still in the drop zone, but he rolls under the corner! Fans cheer as Cassidy even starts to lounge, and gives a thumbs up!

Pac flips Cassidy over before he drags him up, but Cassidy sends Pac into buckles! Pac scowls, runs after Cassidy, but gets sent into buckles! Cassidy wheelbarrows to victory roll, TWO!! Pac back KICKS, whips, and SUPERKICKS Cassidy down! Pac drags Cassidy back up to reel him in, for a LIGER BOMB!! Cover, TWO!??! Cassidy more falls over than kicks out and Pac is stunned! Pac looms over Cassidy, kicks him out of the ring, and lets the ring count climb. A count-out can still win this match, will Cassidy get up? AEW goes picture in picture as fans rally for Freshly Squeezed!

Pac soaks up the heat coming from the fans, the ref goes out to check Cassidy and make sure this isn’t more serious. Cassidy is fine to continue, Pac talks trash to some fellow wrestlers watching ringside, and the count restarts. Cassidy slowly stirs, drags himself up at 5 of 10, and into the ring at 6! Pac drags Cassidy over to a cover, TWO! Pac wraps on a headlock and grinds Cassidy down. Cassidy keeps his shoulders up, pushes Pac’s face with a forearm, but Pac brings him around to CLUB him to a corner. Pac digs his boots in, the ref counts and Pac stops at 4. A disqualification can lose this for Pac, too, so he has to be careful.

Pac paces while Cassidy crawls. The ref wants Pac to give Cassidy space, and also has medics coming over to check. Pac gets fans riled up as AEW returns to single picture. Don Callis comes out here? Callis says Kenny Omega is a busy man, he wants to know who he’s wrestling already! Pac storms after Callis but Callis says he just wants a winner. Wait, Kenny is sneaking in from the other side! Omega has his AEW World Championship belt and he CLOBBERS Pac with it!! The ref misses it all because she was arguing with Callis! Callis “apologizes” and Omega slips away! Both Pac and Cassidy are down and everyone but the ref knows!

Fans chant, “Kenny Sucks!” at Omega as he and Callis slither away. The standing count is past 5 of 10, and then reaches 9!! It’s a DOUBLE COUNT OUT?!?!

Double Count-Out Draw

Well, Callis isn’t a ref, but what he sees here is that there is no winner! That means Omega has NO opponent for Double or Nothing! He’s got the night off, where does he want to go? “Fuel up the Harley, fuel up the Kawasaki Ninja! Don, I thinks we should go on a little bit of a road trip, because what we got here, ain’t two winners! It ain’t one winner! It’s two LOSERS! Who would pay money to see that?!” But Schiavone excuses himself and says he’s been informed- Omega stops that right here and now! Omega gets his sunglasses, puts those on, and Schiavone says he has just been told that at Double or Nothing, there WILL be a world title match. And in this case, “double” is literal, because it will be a Triple Threat! Omega VS PAC VS Cassidy for the title!!

What gives Schiavone the right to do this?! This is from Tony Khan! WHAT?! Omega says they don’t know him! He’s not wrestling two people! Well this is what Tony Khan has decided! Omega blames the ref but the fans are fired up! Omega says he’s going back to Winnipeg, but will he have no choice but to return to Jacksonville to defend his title?

The Elite find their dressing room in disarray!

Matt Jackson tells Brandon Cutler to record this! They want to know who did this to their stuff! Anderson says this is where they sit in a circle and praise the Lord! This was their sanctuary! Gallows knows it was Kingston and Moxley, who have been disrespectful of the best faction in wrestling ever, and it’s been going on for long enough! “Matt, Nick, it’s time to man up! What’re you guys gonna do about it?!” The Bucks first talk about what they did to SCU, one of the best tag teams in the business, and they put them out to pasture without even batting an eye. SCU LATER! But next week, these fighting champions are fighting again, against the new #1 contenders, the Varsity Blonds!

Matt mockingly asks Brian Pillman Jr. if he wants to be like his dada and be a tag team champion, too. The Blonds can step to the Bucks, the best in the business, and see how that turns out! But for once, “the most selfless Christian men in this business” do something for themselves. They’ll settle a personal grudge! Moxley, Kingston, what you boys doing at Double or Nothing? You up? How about they cordially invite your butts to a dang ol’ SUPERKICK PARTY!! Titles or no titles, the Bucks are giving the Maniac and the Mad King the match they want! But will Bulletproof BPJ and the Ivy League MVP make sure the Bucks stop being golden first?

Backstage interview with Hangman Page and The Dark Order.

Alex Marvez asks Hangman’s recent thoughts on his loss to Brian Cage and his subsequent drop in the rankings from #1 to #5. The Dark Order say it’s alright. Alan Angels knows personally it ain’t bad being Number 5. Evil Uno says they will help him get right back to the top! Stu Grayson can even get even with Brian Cage for him! Alex Reynolds says he’ll take on Hook, too. Hangman tells them all that it’s fine. It was gonna happen sooner or later, right? Ranked #1, riding high, it was inevitable that he’d lose. Granted, it took three guys jumping him on the stage first, then a belt shot to the back of his head and a powerbomb that nearly blew his lungs out his mouth, but Cage won.

But Hangman wonders if Cage didn’t so much beat him, as Taz did calling the shots. And if Hangman is someone like Brian Cage, knows what he’s thinking as a guy who has dedicated his whole life to pro-wrestling, then he’s not satisfied with that win. Hangman dares Cage to leave Taz, Ricky Starks, bless his heart, and his junior high band camp friends backstage, to meet Hangman 1v1 and earn a spot. If Hangman loses then, that’s fine, he’ll accept it. As for Cage, it’s Double or Nothing. Oh wait that’s the name of the PPV! Is that on purpose? That’s so smart! John Silver pointed out the obvious, but obviously we’re going one more round! Will Page redeem himself in a rematch with Cage?

The Pinnacle heads to the ring!

Wearing a crown on his head, MJF has two lovely young ladies accompany him personally as he, Wardlow, Tully Blanchard, FTR and Shawn Spears go to the ring. MJF gets the ladies to kiss his Dynamite Diamond Ring, which was itself pivotal in the Blood & Guts victory. Other ladies hold the ropes open as the Pinnacle goes into the ring and MJF gets a mic. MJF says he told us he was going to take Chris Jericho’s spot and his crown, and now MJF is the Demo God and King of AEW! And now we will refer to HIM as the Greatest of All Time! Don’t boo, bow! And not just to him, but to the greatest group of men to ever exist! Bow to The Pinnacle!

“Hell, bow to the biggest drawers professional wrestling has ever known. I don’t know if you mouth-breathing boors have heard about this, but for the first time ever, we ranked #1 on cable last week.” And you have The Pinnacle to thank for it! They broke a record on Canada’s TSN, even, because of the Canadian hero they had in Shawn Spears! Zoom in on the Chair Man! A Canadian God! But MJF is glad fans are bringing up The Inner Circle, because they’re down two men. One because he stabbed MJF like a coward, and the other because he tripped and fell. Which is why MJF is so perplexed as to why oh why The Inner Circle would want a rematch!

But MJF’s a young, benevolent king. Would the people like to see a rematch? YES! Are you sure? YES! Then MJF says NO! HAHAHA! Tully takes over and asks if anyone knows what it’s like to be at the top, looking down at all the others. Tully’s been there many times in the past! But this group of guys here, with MJF and his crown, the Pinnacle took everything The Inner Circle could dish out! Blood & Guts, we saw this group of men take everything The Inner Circle had, and in the end, the Inner Circle is panicking, begging MJF not to throw Jericho off, and they gave up! That was the end of the story! “Ladies and gentlemen, when you quit, you stinking quit!”

The Pinnacle is the top of the world! The finest things, they deserve! Five of the greatest looking women Jacksonville has to offer! Tully has a present for his guys that he spent THOUSANDS on, for the finest wrist jewelry you can have. For those who don’t understand, these are very expensive watches. Each man gets one and they’re very grateful to Tully. Every time they look at those, they can question anything else, but they look at these and think, “This was a present from Tully Blanchard!” This is what The Pinnacle is about! They’re on top of the world, looking down on everyone else! But what is that honking? Who is ruining The Pinnacle’s party? The Inner Circle, that’s who!!

Sammy, Ortiz and Hager cruise in with a jeep and a trailer full of A Little Bit of the Bubbly! MJF says they’re not interested anymore. MJF detained Santana, and we’re never seeing Jericho again! So drive off, you’re team is dead! But JERICHO says, “Hey, Max! Can you hear ’em cheering?” Jericho, arm in a heavy cast and brace, is in the trailer! Fans are thunderous as Jericho says, “Just let me get this straight. We’re gonna ask you again: Will you give us a rematch? Yes or no?” MJF is furious and says that once again, the answer is NO! Okay, so… That’s a what? IT’S N-O, NO!! Then get him! The Inner Circle hoses The Pinnacle down with the bubbly!! A LOT OF IT, TOO!

The Pinnacle is slippin’ and slidin’ in the champagne, this is a bit more than a toast! Sammy makes sure to really get Spears with it, too. MJF is furious but he’s also floundering around in the ring! MJF tells fans to shut up about it! If the Inner Circle wants a match, then Double or Nothing! The same match the Inner Circle lost last year: STADIUM STAMPEDE!! But don’t celebrate just yet! Ain’t nothing funny gonna happen this year! If the Inner Circle loses this time, they must DISBAND FOREVER!! Take it or leave it! Even more is at stake than there was for Blood & Guts! Will the Inner Circle take back their spot atop AEW or have to say good-bye?

Jim Ross interviews Britt Baker.

Good ol’ JR says he is looking forward to Double or Nothing, Hikaru Shida VS Britt Baker for the AEW Women’s World Championship. It was about a year ago today when Britt fought Shida, not a great outcome for Britt with the broken nose and the blood. Yes, Britt needed reconstructive surgery and was out for five months after. The pain can either hurt you or change you. Britt’s been the baddest bitch on the block since then, JR’s words, not hers. And so, it is poetic that Shida broke her nose, and look at The Doctor now. It is poetic that the monster Shida created is the one that will dethrone her. Unless Shida just up and kills Britt. But turns out, Britt is “pretty ****ing hard to kill.”

JR asks Britt if she feels she’s taking it too far, getting too emotionally invested in this match. Tony Khan and several stars of AEW were having a photoshoot with Forbes, that is a big deal, and then Britt took it upon herself to take over. She and Shida brawled because of it. Was that a smart move? JR knows Britt is smart. Britt says she’s brilliant. But then what does this mean to Tony Khan and to her? Does Britt not care about anyone else? Britt says she just wanted to have pictures with the current champion when that article drops. The PPV is on May 30th, the Forbes article is for June. There will be a new champion by then.

But Britt says it’s fine, JR and the others can paint her to be the villain. It’s what they’ve always done, and Britt will just keep autographing the best selling artwork that comes from it. JR says Shida might feel a bit cornered, and that the deck may be stacked. Perhaps her time is coming. He knows this will be physical, with a lot of urgency. Britt agrees, Shida has had the title for a year, and a difficult year at that. Shida was champion, kept the AEW Women’s Division alive when it was riddled with injuries, travel restrictions, all that. The division was on life support.

But Britt is the FACE of this division, the Role Model, the heart, the soul, the pulse. When you have a pulse, you don’t need a machine keeping you alive. So after Double or Nothing, the division will live when Britt becomes champion. That’s a guarantee from DMD. Will the Doctor be in and finally take over the division? Or will Shida be celebrating her one year anniversary as champion still as champion?

Double or Nothing will be May 30th, but Friday, May 28th, it will be a special edition of AEW Dynamite! And then on Saturday, May 29th, it will be AEW Fan Fest! Be sure to get your tickets this Monday, May 17th, so you don’t miss out on any of that!

Thunder Rosa VS Jazmin Allure!

The Role Model may be going after the Full Metal Warrior and the AEW Women’s World Championship, but La Mera Mera is going to be waiting on the other side! At least, as long as she doesn’t let herself get too cocky. Will Rosa be ready for whoever comes out of Double or Nothing with the belt?

The bell rings and the two circle. Fans sing for Rosa and she knees Allure, CHOPS her, then fires off forearms and CHOPS against the ropes! Rosa CHOPS Allure in a corner, then RAMS her shoulder in! And again! And again! Rosa bumps Allure off buckles, CHOPS her again, and again! Rosa whips, Allure reverses and runs in to back elbow! Allure runs corner to corner but Rosa dodges this time, to then SHOTGUN dropkick Allure down! Fans fire up with Rosa and she stomps Allure down. Rosa drags Allure up, scoop SLAMS her, then runs and runs to drop a back senton! Cover, TWO!

Rosa keeps her cool, drags Allure back up, and scoops her, for the backbreaker to the FIRE THUNDER DRIVER! Cover, Rosa wins!

Winner: Thunder Rosa, by pinfall

The roll isn’t stopping, it isn’t slowing down! Hikaru Shida, Britt Baker and even Serena Deeb better watch out for Rosa, she’s coming for it all!

BREAKING NEWS for next week!

Speaking of Serena Deeb, she returns to AEW next week to defend the NWA Women’s World Championship against Red Velvet! Will the young, rising star surprise everyone against one of the best in the world? Or will Serena still be waiting for Rosa when the time finally comes to face off again?

And the challenge has been accepted! Brian Pillman Jr. and Griff Garrison are going for gold against the Young Bucks! Will the Varsity Blonds made to look like JV against the best tag team in the world? And with Double or Nothing’s USA VS UK battle inbound, Anthony Ogogo gets in the ring against Austin Gunn! Will the Son of a Gun just be target practice for Ogogo’s body shots?

Schiavone interviews Jade Cargill!

The top free agent has another manager courting her, as Mark Sterling, lawyer to MJF, says he can get her the same big money deal he got MJF last year. What is her response to that business offer? Or what of Matt Hardy and Vickie Guerrero? Who is handling her business? Jade Cargill handles her business! As far as managerial offers go, she’s still listening. But she’s her own boss, because she’s #ThatBitch!

AEW hears from Darby Allin.

What’s his condition after being thrown down a concrete staircase? He doesn’t have time to think about that. Not right now. Darby literally dropped everything after that just to go to Seattle. He grew up here, with the skateparks. He likes coming back to remind him of who he is and how far he’s come. Trashy as it is, Darby loves everything about it. The first thing he heard Miro talk about is glass ceilings. But what has Miro done since he’s been here? “Honestly, what have you done since you’ve been here? One second you’re playing video games, then the next second, you’re someone’s best man.” Miro kept saying the world will see what he’s capable of now that the leash is off. Darby isn’t buying it.

Miro can say Darby’s this and that, but at least Darby knows who Darby is. Does Miro know who Miro is? “Look at me, you generic son of a bitch!” Miro is NOT taking the TNT Championship from him! Miro says it is his destiny, but Darby says Miro will have to admit he is one of the toughest men he’s ever faced. And he faces him, NEXT!

AEW TNT Championship: Darby Allin w/ Sting VS Miro!

The Relentless Face of the Network always gets back up after someone knocks him down. But The Best Man says he’ll make sure Darby never gets up again! Will Darby make it through his historic tenth title defense? Or will he not make it through the last 10 minutes of the night?

The introductions are made, but Miro doesn’t wait for the belt to be raised as he attacks Darby at the ropes! Miro drags Darby in, throws him to ropes, and Darby clutches a leg. Miro gets Darby up to fire off hands and stomps Darby down! The ref reprimands, Miro lets off and demands the bell ring already! The ref tells Miro to back off so he can check Darby but Miro throws Darby into the ropes! Miro continues to demand the bell ring but Darby flops out of the ring. Miro storms out after Darby, then TOSSES him across the way! Miro drags Darby up and RAMS him into railing! Fans boo but Miro doesn’t care, he drags Darby up. “Am I underwhelming?!”

Miro DECKS Darby, the ref says he has to get this in the ring to start the match! Miro just THROWS Darby again! Miro CLOBBERS Darby over the railing! Fans boo as Miro stares Sting down and even smiles! Miro goes back to Darby, drags Darby up and encourages fans to rally for Darby, so that he can OVERHEAD Belly2Belly Darby back to ringside! Miro drags Darby back up, Scorpio Sky and Ethan Page are watching this like a comedy from the bleachers! Miro puts Darby in the ring, the ref checks with Darby but Darby sputters something about starting already, and Miro KNEES Darby down! The match still hasn’t started and Miro DECKS Darby!

Miro stomps around, Darby finally gets his jacket off, and the ref asks if he still wants to do this. Darby can barely stand but he says yes, and the bell rings! BEST KICK!! Cover, TWO!! Darby survives but Miro thinks that was three! The ref says no, it was two! Darby bails out as Miro argues with the ref. Miro goes out, Darby SHOTGUN dropkicks him! My Thoughts:

What an amazing episode! Three title matches, of course one opens tonight. Moxley VS Nagata certainly had the intensity of a NJPW Strong Style match but could have been a touch more. Moxley retaining makes sense in that he still needs to be strong in this feud with the Young Bucks. Speaking of which, Bucks VS SCU was amazing, definitely what a Titles vs Tag Career match should’ve looked like, but I am a little disappointed that SCU lost. But I suppose with Scorpio having moved on to be with Ethan, maybe SCU was just ready to break up since it was just The Addiction. A shame it was because of cheating, but that’s so Bucks have even more Heel heat than normal.

Kingston and Moxley should’ve known that while they were trashing The Elite’s dressing room, The Elite was still mostly in the ring. This is a TV show that is televised live. As for The Elite’s response, I thought it was pretty funny for The Elite to be that upset. I suppose The Bucks are going to build momentum while giving Dynamite title matches and thereby ratings with their title matches. The Bucks have to have these belts by Double or Nothing, right? I don’t think there’s been an AEW PPV without the tag titles, so Bucks VS Mox & Kingston has to be for the titles to make it all work in the wrestling logic we’re all used to.

Speaking of wrestling logic we’re used to, I appreciate that Cody makes note that pro-wrestling, certainly in America, is about patriotism and it’s a bit cliché. Or rather, the support of your country. In the UK, it is “UK is Face, other places are Heel,” and same for Japan and Mexico and I’m sure anywhere else. That said, Cody then leans right into it, which I appreciate but do feel it’s odd because he just prefaced that this shouldn’t be about patriotism. Either way, Cody VS Ogogo now made for Double or Nothing is great, it is very big for Ogogo to be this early in his wrestling career and he’s getting a high profile PPV match.

As for Cody becoming “The American Dream” for just one night, this sounds like he wants to take advantage of a loophole while he can. Most times, copyright and competition in wrestling is about “You can’t use this on television/cable.” Double or Nothing is a PPV, therefore not on cable, so he can do it for just this match with Ogogo because it feeds the USA VS Not USA element of the story. At the same time, I am sure this is not the end for Nightmare Family VS The Factory, and I do hope The Factory recruits more people so we can get more battles between them and the Nightmare Family, which is still pretty big.

And speaking of things not being over, I am both surprised but not surprised that we’re getting more Inner Circle VS Pinnacle already. I like that they kayfabe’d Santana’s injury concerns as him being arrested, it foreshadowed a bit of a Stone Cold Steve Austin theme the Inner Circle was going for with tonight. Them ruining The Pinnacle’s party with their version of the beer truck water cannon was definitely a Stone Cold shout out, and I should’ve realized The Inner Circle would get the second-ever Stadium Stampede. If the stipulation is “Inner Circle loses, they break up,” this has to mean they win this time, right? But at the same time, I can’t see there being a third faction match, with Blood & Guts and Stadium Stampede II already being huge moments.

Christian Cage has a decent promo calling out Team Taz, but I can see why Matt Sydal is the one going after him: Ricky Starks unfortunately has a fractured neck, that is going to keep him out for at least three months, and hopefully it is only those three months. Christian VS Starks was the clear next part of Christian VS Team Taz, and I suppose instead of being redundant with a Christian VS Hobbs rematch, getting someone as comparative to Starks as possible in terms of having a speedy fighting style works. As for the promo, I like that Sydal gave Christian shade on the workhorse hype that hasn’t been fulfilled yet, but of course Christian is going to tough it out and win.

Hangman and the Dark Order had another fun promo together, and Hangman VS Brian Cage at Double or Nothing is going to be great. I am thinking Hangman wins the rematch to get back on track, his pacing is working out perfectly so that he can challenge the AEW World Champion at All Out 2021. PAC VS Cassidy was a great match, but I should’ve figured Omega would screw the “serious threat” over, but I like that it only screws him over. In a vacuum, AKA ignoring WWE spamming singles title Triple Threats, this Triple Threat is exactly what Omega deserves to be put through for how he’s acted, and is a first-time-ever for any singles title in AEW. But at the same time, I think Omega wins by using his opponents against each other, as well as the No Disqualification rule to allow interference.

Britt has a great interview promo with JR, Rosa has a good squash win, and it’s great that next week will be the return of Serena Deeb and the NWA Women’s World Championship. Britt sure looks like the heavy favorite going into Double or Nothing, and I suppose it’s never too soon for another Britt VS Rosa match. But I wonder if it’s going to be Britt VS Rosa for just the AEW title, or if Rosa gets her rematch with Deeb first, wins the NWA title, and then we get #WinnerTakesAll at say All Out, or perhaps on the anniversary episode of Dynamite for 2021. Britt may have put her Heel twist on it that she is going to be why the division thrives, but this women’s division is starting to come alive.

Darby’s vignette before the main event was good, but I think he could learn to bring his aggression out verbally a bit better. He didn’t sound as mad as he should have calling Miro an SOB. Darby VS Miro was an awesome match, though, but Scorpio & Ethan going after Sting on the side could’ve been done a bit better. Did they really need to go after him during a picture in picture segment, and then again when things were done? Just do the time after the match and have the Dark Order come out and Archer and then we close the show. Miro winning makes a lot of sense, but especially with him wearing his TNT title trunks tonight. It was like taking “win face” and “win entrance” to a new level with “win attire.” You don’t get custom trunks like that to then look like a dork for failing.

I’m thinking Miro VS Archer for the TNT title and Ethan & Scorpio VS Sting & Darby in perhaps another cinematic are both going to be at Double or Nothing. Double or Nothing is already looking to be an awesome PPV to shift things from Spring to Summer, a lot could change for AEW’s title landscape and that turnover could help them keep running high in the ratings while competing with regular sports, just as they should be.

My Score: 9.4/10

MY THOUGHTS

Moxley & Kingston starting was a nice twist, and they just destroy Milk Chocolate! That is enough to make it a match to watch, and does make sense since Mox and Kingston already competed on Elevation, and Mox is going to need to be 100% for his IWGP US Championship match with Yuji Nagata on Dynamite. The “Violent Crown,” a lariat Half ‘n’ Half suplex combo, is a great team finisher for them, too. Dark Order does great as always, they had a great promo on the Hardy Family Office to build story, but Preston Vance’s mask becoming more and more The Joker has me torn. Yes, The Joker is iconic, he’s THE Batman villain, but it’s so much so that people wanting to reference him (and Harley Quinn by extension) is overdone.

Vance should try to reference some other masked character(s), like Rorschach or Ghost Face. I get it, Pentagon is running around as Venom on and off, and Venom is another frequently referenced character, but not nearly as much so it’s not grating yet. The “Pretty Picture”/”Wingmen” arguing about the name is hilarious stuff, too. I wonder if there will be a match of Bononi & Avalon VS Nemeth & Drake, winners decide which one is the real name. Nemeth & Bononi get a good win for themselves, Vance VS Drake was great and worthy of the “main event” that is basically the entire latter half of these YouTube shows. It was fourth to last, not a real main event, but still great.

Archer doing a springboard cannonball to start the assault was great. Murderhawk Monster squash matches are always fun, especially now that Jake the Snake is getting on commentary for them. I like the arrogance in The Factory that QT Marshall can just sit on the “throne” that is the steel steps on the ramp while watching his guys fight in a 3v2. At the same time, Comoroto is big and strong enough that he can make up for being down a man. QT’s aggression and using the Figure Four after definitely implies nothing is done between him and Cody, but I still wish he had gotten a grudge match with Dustin first.

Julia Hart joining Varsity Blonds is a good sign that the Blonds are moving up in the ranks in AEW as far as presentation. Best Friends made Kris Statlander an honorary member, Julia can be like the varsity cheerleader or something, and we can start getting some mixed tag/mixed trio matches. Brandyn & Jordan, aka Waves & Curls, got a really good showing for a Dark debut, but naturally the Blonds win and I still think their finisher should be the Varsity Bomb. Statlander of course beats Julia, but perhaps seeds have been planted for Best Friends VS Blonds? Diamante calling out Statlander is an interesting choice, but sometimes you just have to throw people together to get a feud going and see what comes of it.

Dante Martin is doing so well as a singles guy while waiting on brother Darrius to recover, I feel like Dante should get a TNT Championship opportunity. Of course, that’s only if Darby Allin retains on Dynamite, or if Miro chooses to be a workhorse champion like Darby. I just hope there isn’t some story where the brothers disagree and there’s a break-up because Top Flight can be a truly amazing team once they’re both running hot like that. JB VS Casaus was good, Casaus getting a good showing before he of course loses because it’s Jungle Boy! #Swolevet should be considered for whatever women’s tag concept AEW thinks of next, they and KiLynn King make a great group.

Again, the latter part of Dark being the “main event,” that is logically where the strength of the card lies. Vance VS Drake, probably Caster’s funniest rap yet, The Acclaimed VS Jersey’s Finest, and then Team Taz’s muscle closing in the last two matches, all great stuff. I almost feel like the tag match could’ve been the main event over the separate Team Taz matches, it was that damn good. Another surprise was that I thought Brian Cage would main event, because he beat Hangman Page and though the FTW Championship isn’t an official title of AEW, you’d think Cage would still be seen as the frontrunner of Team Taz. He also has a great match with Bear Bronson, who is solo right now with Boulder hurt.

And if multiple Team Taz members were on the card tonight, why didn’t they think to have them all enter together and just wait on their opponents to show up? Ricky Starks could’ve even been on commentary to further the passive aggressiveness he has towards Cage. Just a small thing that would’ve helped build story, so that instead of saying “It’s just AEW’s YouTube show,” fans can start to say, “AEW is genius for putting this on YouTube!”

My Score: 8.4/10
