HPW News 2022

We’re on the road to HyruleMania 3!

After HPW Clash of Fates, we now know it will be Kage VS Igos du Ikana for the Triforce Championship at HyruleMania! But what will they have to say about it?

After the HPW Goddess Championship.

Hilda fumes as she storms into the room.

She rants and raves about losing to Zelda and how it’s not fair, but Ravio keeps trying to get her attention. Hilda says Maron must’ve been in cahoots with Zelda, but Ravio keeps trying to get her attention. Hilda shouts, “WHAT?!” and Ravio nervously leans in. He whispers and we can just hear, “Hyrule Warriors.” Hilda’s mood changes, and she smiles as she says Ravio’s a “brilliant little bunny.” They hurry off, and we already know what they were plotting.

Zelda walks in, title on her shoulder.

“Hilda and Ravio tried, but silly cheaters. Tricks are for… Wait, we’re not sponsored by them, would I get in trouble using their slogan? Whatever. But seeing Veran again, her challenging me, the tiebreaker for the title, this’ll be a great match for HyruleMania, I can’t wait. See you there.” The Princess of Hyrule heads out, but will she be able to make it to two years as champion?

After the All or Nothing Quartet.

Arrow Club is celebrating as they walk in.

“We~ are the champions, my friends~!” “BAH…! BAH…!” “And we’ll~ keep on fightin’, to the end~!” “BAH BAH-BAH-BAH!” “Oh, we~ are the champions! WE~ are the champions~!” But then Mack Jackson says, “Wait! Wait! Where’s Fin?” The Club realizes their leader is MIA after Ganondorf’s attack! They look around and shout for Fin, and Fin staggers out from behind some road cases. The Club rushes over to him and they ask what happened. Fin says he got away from Ganondorf, “the rat bastard,” but Fin promises Ganondorf’s gonna pay! Fin doesn’t specify how, but as he storms off, we know what he means.

The Gerudo Sisterhood all sit together in a semi-circle.

They’re all down from the loss. Tali says this is all on her, but the Desert Flowers assure her that’s not true. She took everything the Arrow Club had, and that’s because that’s what it was going to take to stop her. Tali thanks them for the encouragement. Shabonne walks in and she has some paperwork in hand. She says this is the official contract from HPW detailing the championship stipulations. “As of today, and until the end of Torbevito’s reign, the Dame of the Dunes cannot challenge for the HPW Death Mountain Championship. And until the end of Arrow Club’s reign, the Desert Flowers cannot challenge for the HPW Trios Championships.”

The Gerudo Sisterhood sighs, but then Aveil seems to have a thought. The wording of the contract specifically states those prohibitions? Shabonne is a bit confused by the question. “Yes, they’re specific. Tali can’t challenge Torbevito, and you three can’t challenge Scaly and the Ducks.” “Us three, or just a team known as ‘The Desert Flowers?'” The lightbulb clicks in Shabonne’s head, and she has a big smile on her face now. “Of course! Loophole!” The others don’t understand, and they want it explained.

Shabonne says that while Tali can’t challenge for the Death Mountain title, all of the Desert Flowers can! And likewise, if a different formation were to challenge the Arrow Club, then it’d be all good! Riju, Buliara and Tali see it now! Riju, Aveil & Buliara will all go for the Death Mountain title, and surely one of them will succeed. And those that don’t can fallback and team with Tali! Exactly! Shabonne says she’s going to find the HPW officials again to get that on paper! “Get ready, Arrow Club! Because now you’re our targets!” Will this change of plans fail to stop the Gerudo Alliance from having gold?

After the Fused Shadow I Quit Match.

Midna walks in, her true self again.

“Ugh, finally,” she says as she stretches her arms. “I don’t know how, but I really need to make sure this doesn’t happen again. But, with Ghira-hurl out of the way and my power back at 100%, I’m realizing just how long it’s been since I’ve held a championship. If not for Veran showing up, I’d be going for a rematch with Zelda, but I’m not upset. That Death Mountain title is open division, right? Well, then, tell Terrible-vito that Tali ain’t got nothing on me.” Midna heads out, will she get in on the newest title hunt?

Ghirahim hobbles in.

He has an ice pack on his swollen, bloody face, but he refuses to be helped around. He sniffles a bit as he takes a seat. “Fine. I lost. I said I… I said I…” He sobs and sniffles. “I said I quit!” He takes in a long sniffle this time as he fights back tears. “Midna proved she’s better. At being horrible! At being violent! At being sadistic! And I can’t stand it! But, I can barely stand as it is. You’ve won this round, Twilight Princess. But I’m going to beat you in what really matters: getting a title!” Ghirahim then winces from the pain in his face. The Twilight Princess and the Living Blade are both going for gold, who reaches the goal first?

During and after the Hyrule Warriors match.

Ashei, the first eliminated.

She sighs. “Well, so much for my return. Thanks for having me. Well, wait. The Death Mountain Championship is still with Torbevito? Hmm… That might be cool. Who do I talk to about that? This way?” Ashei heads off down the hall. Ashei has a lot of experience climbing snowy mountains, is she going to climb a golden mountain now?

Ladrona, the third eliminated.

The Thief Girl pouts as she enters backstage. “The first Dark Horse into the match, and the first Dark Horse out of it. I tried to snag someone else’s number, but a lot of the later entries were really scary. And Captain Bokoblin. But I’ll just have to try for something else. I’ll wait and see how things play out. See y’all later!” What gold will the Thief Girl be eyeing from the shadows?

Ganondorf, the sixth eliminated.

Ganondorf is furious and throwing things around! “That sonovabitch! Where the hell did that coward go? He runs off, just to come back and screw me over?!” Ganondorf then looks into the camera. “Fin! Wherever you’re hiding, you might as well stay there. Because if you ever crawl out of there, I’m coming for your head! And your gold! I want that Termina Championship! And the only way you’re keeping it is if you never face me.” Ganondorf storms off, will Fin accept his challenge? Or will he take his advice and stay away?

Hilda returns, with Ravio and Yuga.

Her Grace is furious again and Ravio keeps trying to calm her down. She can’t believe they failed to get another title opportunity. But Yuga has a suggestion. Since they’re all back together again, they should go for the Trios Championships! Hilda’s eyes light up and she says that’s brilliant! They should’ve been using their powers combined this whole time! Hilda leads the way down the hall, will these three tricksters take the titles off Arrow Club?

Cameras hurry as The UnderWorld Order and Dark Forces are brawling!

After having it out in the Hyrule Warriors match, it seems ReDead, Gomess, Death Sword, Volga, Cia, and both Gibdos are brawling! Wizzro tries to help to keep things 4v4 but the uWo’s four are stronger than the Dark Force’s four! But then LANA leaps in! Lana helps her sister turn the tide! The uWo backs down, but the Gibdos stare down. ReDead says the Dark Forces are getting off easy, but this is far from over. The uWo turn to go and their Gibdo finally turns to leave. If this isn’t over, who will it end between these two factions?

Groose drags Skull Kid backstage.

“Alright, you little bastard,” he tells Skull Kid. But Skull Kid starts flailing wildly! He gets loose of Groose and spider walks around! Groose is a bit put off by that, but then Skull Kid stands up and turns around to stare at Groose. Groose tells Skull Kid that enough is enough! He hasn’t been the same since putting that weird mask on. Groose asks Skull Kid what’s going on with him, but Skull Kid flips him off and runs away! Groose shouts, “Hey!” and chases after. The cameraman does his best to keep up with them, but then they turn the corner, and Skull Kid is just gone! Groose asks, “Where’d he go?!” Just what IS going on with Skull Kid and that heart shaped mask?

Onox, the last eliminated.

Despite losing, the Obsidian General seems in great spirits. He grins and says, “It was great to be back, and it was good to see ol’ Bone Jangles there. He may have bested me this time, but I’ll be back again. Just you wait and see!” Onox heads out, when and where will we see him again?

After the HPW Triforce Championship Blood match.

Link is brought back in with a stretcher.

Zelda and Groose are there to see him as the medical team wheels him around. Link assures them he’s fine, but the medical team wants to get his ribs checked out. Zelda is very worried as the stretcher is wheeled away. Will the Hero of Hyrule be alright after what his Shadow did to him?

The Ikana Royal Family walks in together.

Stal-Kid, Captain Keeta, Sir Hurr & Sir Durr all applaud for Igos du Ikana, who won the Hyrule Warriors match. Igos says, “This is a great honor to have won such a challenging match, and to have faced off against an old rival in General Onox. I was watching that main event personally, and I have to say, that was quite the display of violence. I really do hope that Link recovers, that was a rather… rough landing on that chair. And in the end, Kage is still the champion. I respect what he’s capable of, and I commend him for surviving what he’s been through. But all of that anger and hostility he showed tonight won’t matter. Fires fade out, but I’m stone. And soon, I will have gold again.” The Ruler of Ruin is ready, but will the Hero’s Shadow be?

Kage walks into gorilla.

As the champion, having closed out the night, he goes up the ramp to return backstage from the entrance. Kage shakes hands with Nicolas Foolyere and Humpback Hook Halibut, and then gets patched up by medics. He then sits at a table, bandaged up and with a beer. “Don’t ask me about Link. I don’t care how he’s doing. Don’t ask me about Igos. I only have one thing to say to him. I put myself through all this, and did all of that to Link, not because I had to, but because I wanted to. I made the challenge for the Blood Match, and I won it. If I was able to win that kind of match, there’s absolutely nothing Igos can do to beat me in a normal match. But he’s welcome to try.”

Kage then chugs an entire can, crushes it, throws it away into the trash can, and leaves. Will Kage endure everything imaginable in order to retain the title?

My Thoughts:

Oh do I have plans for Fyter Feast! Arrow Club isn’t done with any of the Gerudos, Fin VS Ganondorf is going to be a great match. I haven’t decided which of the Desert Flowers gets in on the Death Mountain Championship but I sense it’ll be between Riju and Aveil. That title’s going to have a star studded field for this HyruleMania with Midna and Ghirahim getting in on it, too. The Trios Championship field is also going to be pretty stacked with a lot of different possibilities there. And there is a lot to unpack with the uWo and the Dark Forces. And of course, Kage VS Igos is going to be really good, but I’m not sure what kind of tune-up will happen at Fyter Feast.
