Mitchell’s Hyrule Puro-Resu News Report! (12/30/22)
Dawn of the Second Day!

HPW isn’t without its grudges!
The UnderWorld Order has made its share of enemies in HPW, and now must settle scores with two of them at HyruleMania!
The following announcement has been paid for by the UnderWorld Order.
Hollywood ReDead, Gomess, Death Sword and Ted Beedle Ossi stand behind their Gibdo, revealed to be named “Āléx” by the Dark Forces’ Gibdo, “Kēvín.” The set feels very much like a funeral home. Āléx tells Kēvín, “You keep making mistakes. You didn’t join Hollywood ReDead in creating this new empire, and you still don’t see through the charade the Dark Forces is playing. They do not care about you, and they never will. You are muscle to them, which they surely could replace. But in the UnderWorld Order, you could’ve been so much more! We could all have gold around our waists, but you wasted your potential, and now I must lay waste to you.
“There will be no mourning. There will be no tears. There will only be sighs of disappointment and scoffing laughter at your memory. Here lies Kēvín, who let himself be used as a pawn in a game that was far above his ability. Your career will enter its afterlife, and you will wander the earth as a tormented soul. You yourself will lament what could have been, and you will haunt those who held you back. At HyruleMania, we will say good-bye, and then bury you under your own failures.” ReDead says, “Dark Forces, we are sorry for your loss. NOT!” The uWo laugh, and things fade away to black.
The Dark Forces sit by a bonfire in a clearing.
Lana walks over and Cia greets her with a hug. They are sisters, after all. And they’ve clearly made up since their feuding just last year. “Wrestling has always meant a lot to us,” Cia says as they sit around the fire. “It’s always meant a lot to a lot of people, obviously. But admittedly, trying to make it in the world of wrestling has made many of us do things we perhaps shouldn’t have. So okay, maybe ReDead has a point. Maybe there were times he and Gibdo Kēvín weren’t appreciated. But without them, the Dark Forces wouldn’t have even made it out the gate. ReDead, you used your new team to help you get ahead, so that makes you a hypocrite.”
Gibdo Kēvín stays away from the bonfire. Fire is their one weakness, so he’s not taking any chances. He instead stares into the setting sun. “Gibdos. ReDeads. Stalfos. We are not born. We simply come into being. I do not remember much about the moment I came to be. I just remember seeing a ring being built from afar. Seeing people enter that ring and compete. Wanting to be one of those people.” Kēvín also remembers scaring people when he walked over, asking to learn how to wrestle. He learned from Blaino and Rover, the same coaches that taught Cia and ReDead. They were introduced to Volga and Wizzro later, and The Dark Forces also “came to be.”
Kēvín never said it out loud, but he looked up to the others in The Dark Forces. He knows it wasn’t always easy, and it wasn’t always with recognition of thanks. He won’t use a childish word like “fun,” but weren’t there times when it was good? When it was exciting? When they were all on the same page and on top of the world? ReDead gave up on the group when things got hard. And then he tries to replace Kēvín with Āléx like they’re interchangeable. Kēvín doesn’t hate ReDead, and he doesn’t hate Āléx, but he does pity them. But he won’t let that pity stop him from doing what he must to stop the UnderWorld Order.
Groose skydives.
When The Skyfall Stud feels homesick, he gets up in the clouds and jumps. He of course take precautions, from a glider suit to a parachute, and he makes a safe landing. Groose speaks with HPW Media after changing out of the gear. “Flying through the clouds, wind in my hair, it helps me clear my mind. And lately, I’ve had a lot on my mind.” HPW Media sticks with Groose as he gets lunch at Burger Lord.
The Studly Guys formed when Tingle and Skull Kid needed a third man to face Forged By Violence back in the Autumn of 2020. They fought and failed to get to the HPW Trios Championships at the time, but stuck together through all of 2021 to finally get those belts at Fyter Feast. But in that year, Groose saw Skull Kid changing. Groose thought it was for the better, but looking back, he should’ve realized there was something wrong. “And it all started that damn mask. It’s like the mask itself is changing him. It’s fine to get big and strong, but he shouldn’t let it affect his behavior.
“Admittedly, I wasn’t always the nicest guy. I tried to throw my weight around the Training Center, so I clashed with others. But then we ended up getting along. Look at Link. I was a big jerk to him, right until he beat me in the inaugural Triforce Tournament, and now we’re like best of friends! To think it’d go the reverse. Skull Kid and I got along so well, but he turned on me. So I can’t think of Skull Kid as my friend anymore. He chose his side, so now we’re just opponents. And like any opponent, I’m going to give it my all to beat him. I’m not letting him take my hair.”
But what of the other member of the uWo?
Skull Kid paces around in a ring in a dimly lit gym. He says softly, “Darkness. Imprisoning me. All that I see, absolute horror, I cannot live. I cannot die. Trapped in myself, body my holding cell.” Then he walks over to a corner and leans his head against a buckle. “Think back to when you were a child. What did you want to be when you grew up? I don’t just mean a job you wanted to have. I mean more like… Did you want to be big and strong? Did you want to be swift like the wind? Did you want to be brave? Able to do anything? I did. I always wanted to be those things. And now, with this mask, I think I am.”
A highlight reel plays of Skull Kid ever since he found this new heart shaped mask. He was speaking up, getting more aggressive in the ring. But his partners in The Studly Guys, Groose and Tingle, felt he was getting too aggressive. It started costing them wins. And then that aggression turned itself on those friends when Skull Kid couldn’t tolerate them anymore. Skull Kid fighting ReDead, Gomess and Death Sword showed them what he had to offer. “And yet, Groose keeps getting in my way… Groose doesn’t understand. He was always big. He was always strong. And because of that, he was always able to do anything.
“And now, so am I…!” SKULL KID TURNS HIS HEAD AROUND 180 DEGREES!! “But one thing Groose won’t be able to do… is STOP ME!!!” The video cuts out. Will the UnderWorld Order bring about a new world order at HyruleMania?
My Thoughts:
After having the last few weeks of hype articles, this one proved a bit trickier to put together. I guess there isn’t as much depth to the stories for the Gibdos, and apparently not as much depth for Groose, either. But I think I managed to find a little bit for Kevin to humanize him even though he’s a mummy. And I’ve got good stuff planned for the Gibdos’ match, too.

Bandwagon Nerds #185: Incursion Version

On this week’s BWN, the Nerds take a look at the final trailer for The Flash and discuss some rumors going around about the movie. Is Michael Keaton playing someone other than Bruce Wayne? And does a rumored fan-service moment make up for the stigma that might be attached to this movie because of Ezra Miller? The guys also look at the final trailer for Barbie and have some rather surprising thoughts about the movie. The ongoing writers strike impacts some aspects of the MCU, while others continue to plow forward. The rumor mill is hot and heavy with a possible director for Secret Wars. All that plus an upcoming movie about John Madden, The Wick-Verse being a real thing, and how close were we to getting a Blackest Night adaptation in the waning days of the Arrowverse?

Bandwagon Nerds #184: Killing In The Name Of

The Nerds take a leisurely stroll through the Trailer Park to review some of the latest big time trailers including Killers of the Flower Moon, The Haunted Mansion, & Mission Impossible. Lots of casting news this week including Eddie Murphy making a bit of history and our seemingly weekly Fantastic Four casting rumor. Seth “Freakin” Rollins will make an appearance in Captain America 4, and the Wrestling Dirt Sheets had a field day with it. Meanwhile, Marvel Comics made the questionable decision to kill off one of their most popular characters mere months before she is slated to play a major role in an MCU cinematic event. Is this smart, or just killing someone in the name of controversy and/or cash? All that plus the latest on the Writers Strike and the sobering reality that it might not be ending any time soon.
