Chris Jericho joins AEW commentary!
Le Champion brings Floyd the baseball bat as a special guest of his own as he sits with Jim Ross, Tony Schiavone and Excalibur at the desk. “Back in business, baby!” The world wanted it ever since Jericho and “Skee-a-vone” took over while JR was at home and Excalibur was milking cows or whatever he does home in Bakersfield, California or whatever. What will Jericho have to say about his boys in the Inner Circle being in action later tonight?
FTR VS The Butcher & The Blade!
Cash Wheeler and Dax Harwood got in the way of the brawl between Andy Williams, Braxton Sutter and the Young Bucks, and then got into it backstage during interview time. But while FTR means whatever you want it to mean, will it be victorious in an AEW in-ring debut?
The teams sort out and the crowd is hot for FTR. Dax starts against Blade and they circle with the bell. They tie up, go around, and break. They go again, Blade puts Dax in a corner but lets up at 4. Dax comes back, ties up with Blade, but gets put back in the corner. The ref counts but has to break them up. Blade argues with the ref while we get a look at Tully Blanchard and Arn Anderson both taking notes of these two teams. Behind Arn is Shawn Spears, but Spears is glaring straight ahead at the ring. We also see Lance Archer and Jake the Snake watching, but they don’t seem that impressed yet.
Back in the ring, Blade and Dax reset and tie up. Dax headlocks and gets the takeover, but Blade avoids the cover. Blade fights up to his feet and powers Dax to ropes. Dax lets go but Blade kicks low! Blade CHOPS but Dax CHOPS back! It’s a CHOP fight already! Blade and Dax switch to forearms, then Dax headlocks only for Blade to power out. Dax runs Blade over but keeps moving! Things speed up, Dax slides under Blade to waistlock and O’Conner roll! TWO, but Dax is right on Blade with a cradle! TWO, and Dax gets the headlock takeover! The crowd cheers the technical exchange, and Dax wrenches Blade to tag in Cash. Cash leaps up with knees! Cash wrenches to a shoulder breaker then tags in Dax. Cash feeds Blade to Dax’s knee, then snapmares Blade for Dax to stomp away on the arm!
Dax drags Blade up and wrenches to hit a Northern Lights Suplex! Bridging cover, TWO, but Dax is on Blade with a keylock. Blade powers Dax to the corner and Butcher tags in, but Cash backs up his partner. The teams stare down but settle down. The crowd is thunderous for FTR as Butcher waits for Dax. Cash tags in and he circles with Butcher, but Butcher swipes at Dax! Dax anchors Butcher’s foot and Cash waistlocks. Butcher fights free but Cash hits back with forearms and uppercuts! Cash runs and collides with Butcher, but Butcher doesn’t budge! Cash tries again, but Butcher still stays up. Butcher ducks but Cash hurdles, and dropkicks Butcher! Butcher stays up but Cash clutches an arm. A bad landing at a bad time, perhaps? The ref checks on Cash and he has to keep Butcher back. But Cash was faking it and he rolls Butcher up!! TWO, and Butcher CROSSBODIES Cash!
Butcher drags Cash up to bump off buckles then tags in Blade. Butcher CHOPS, Cash CHOPS, but Blade smothers Cash in the corner. The ref reprimands Blade but Butcher gets away with choking Cash! Dax protests but the ref keeps him back. Cash is let go but Blade stomps him around. Cash throws hands but Blade rakes eyes. Blade chokes Cash on the ropes but lets up at 4. Butcher tags in and he chokes Cash now! He lets up at 4 then drags Cash up to the corner. Butcher throws hands then tags in Blade. They double headbutt Cash again and again, but the crowd rallies up. Blade brings Cash up but Cash throws elbows. Blade snapmares and wraps a chinlock on to grind Cash down.
Cash endures, the crowd rallies up, and Cash hits a jawbreaker! Cash is free again, but Blade gets him with a facelock. But Cash powers up to head for his corner! Blade sucker punches Dax off the apron but turns around into a headlock. Blade powers out but Cash catches Blade’s leap for a POWERSLAM! Both men are down and the crowd fires up. Cash crawls, hot tag to Dax! Dax rallies on Blade with jab after jab and a haymaker! Another! Dax hoists Blade up for a BIG back suplex! Dax dropkicks Butcher off the apron to then give Blade a swinging neckbreaker! Butcher runs in but his boot is caught for a dragon screw! Blade kicks low and reels Dax in, but Dax suplexes for a BRAIN BUSTER!
Dax drags Blade up and brings him over to the corner. He puts Blade up top, climbs up to join him, but has to fight Butcher off with haymakers! Butcher shoves Dax down but Cash catches Butcher in the ropes! FTR combines for a DOUBLE DRAPING DDT! The Viper’s influence is still strong and Cash goes after Blade. Blade boots Cash away, but Dax ROCKS Blade with an uppercut! Dax climbs up, Dash tags in, and the SUPERPLEX is followed by the FROG SPLASH! Cover, TWO!?! Blade survives the combo and the legends in the crowd are taking note. Cash tags Dax in and they coordinate on Blade. They double whip, Blade ducks and Butcher trips Cash! Blade rolls Dax with tights, TWO!! BIG KNEE rocks Dax! Butcher tags in, Dax is fed to the lift, assisted Gunn Slinger! Cover, TWO!! Blade tags back in and they coordinate, but Cash makes the save! Cash helps Dax give Butcher the SHATTER MACHINE!! Or now, the Goodnight Express! But Blade is after Dax again! Backslide battle but Cash tags in! SPIKE PILEDRIVER!! The Mind-Breaker is definitely what Arn and Tully like, and Cash covers, FTR wins!
Winners: FTR, by pinfall
Tonight, it stands for #FearThrowbackRasslin! Okay, that’s not a perfect acronym, but it’s what FTR does. Schiavone interviews them in the ring and congratulates them on the win. That’s exactly what they wanted to do, right? Dax says it is. This is the pinnacle of professional and tag team wrestling. But the Young Bucks come out and join FTR in the ring. Nick doesn’t want to be rude, but he and Matt want to congratulate them on that great match. Matt says they also wanted to thank FTR for that save. And while they appreciate the sentiment, they also couldn’t help but notice Cash and Dax failed to “properly introduce” themselves. It’s fine, it’s fine. They’re all here now, so maybe they can have that now?
“My name’s Matt. This is my brother Nick. We’ve been carrying tag team wrestling solely on our backs for the past decade and a half!” They’re the best tag team in AEW! They’re the Young Bucks! It’s nice to finally meet you. But then Butcher attacks! Cash and Dax go after him with fury, but then the Superbad Squad get involved! Kip Sabian and Jimmy Havoc want after FTR but the Bucks back Cash and Dax up! We have a brawl, but here come Kenny Omega and Hangman Page! The Elite run the Superbad Squad off but then stand off with FTR. But specifically, the AEW World Tag Team Champions are looking at their crop of contenders just a month away from Fyter Fest. Omega and the Bucks keep peace, but there will come a tag team war soon enough. Who will fight the champs at Fyter Fest?
Backstage interview with The Natural Nightmares and Allie.
Brandi Rhodes, Dustin, QT Marshall and QT’s cutie hear breaking news. Dustin and QT will face Kenny Omega and Hangman Page for the AEW World Tag Team Championships next week! Are the top contenders ready? Brandi wants to address something first. Why does Allie have a Nightmare Family jacket?! QT made that for her? Yeah, she’s part of the family now as his girlfriend. Does QT not get what’s at stake here? They have their first shot at the tag team titles! Against two of the greatest in the world! And in a second, Hangman could take QT’s head off with that Buckshot! Dustin needs QT’s head in the game. Dustin needs his partner. This could be them at Fyter Fest against the Best Friends! It’ll be great, but only if QT is focused. Whatever this is with Allie, get it out of your system, because she won’t be ringside for that match. The lines have been drawn, will QT choose the gold or his girl?
Hikaru Shida & Kris Statlander VS Nyla Rose & Penelope Ford w/ Kip Sabian!
The Stardom Samurai once again teams with the Galaxy’s Greatest Alien to take on the Native Beast and the Superbad Girl! But in a match with three of her top five contenders, can Shida hope to make it out of this match in one piece?
The teams don’t even have time to sort out before Penelope and Nyla borrow Jimmy Havoc’s favorite strategy of a blindside attack! The bell rings as the brawl rages and Nyla bumps Kris off buckles. Penelope stomps Shida down and grinds her boot in. Nyla does the same to Kris but Shida gets out of the ring. Penelope and Nyla bring Kris up and double whip, but Kris ducks and kicks back! Kris throws Nyla into Penelope a la a SPEAR! Kris clubs Nyla and basement dropkicks! Cover, TWO! Kris keeps on Nyla and bumps her off buckles. Tag to Shida and Shida runs to hit a forearm smash! Tag back to Kris and Kris runs to add an uppercut! Tag back to Shida, she swipes at Ford then comes back to KNEE Nyla!
Shida snapmares Nyla then tags Kris. Kris climbs and leaps at Nyla, but Nyla gets under and Kris belly flops! Nyla sucker punches Shida then comes back to CLOBBER Kris! Ford cheers as Nyla covers, TWO! Nyla drags Kris up by her hair to drive in an elbow! She scrapes her boot off Kris’ face, scoops her and slams her down! Then drops a leg! Nyla has control as usual as AEW goes to break.
AEW returns and Nyla pulls back on Kris’ arms. Kris fights her way up, fights free and throws hands. Nyla catches one punch, then the other, then ducks Kris’ roundhouse to pump handle flip her! Kris lands on her feet to PELE! And DISCUS CLOTHESLINE! Both women are down but the crowd is rallying. The standing count climbs as Kris and Nyla crawl. Hot tags to Penelope and Shida! Shida swings but misses and Penelope kicks to whip. Shida puts Penelope up on the top rope for a Top Shelf Knee! Shida pushes Penelope to the apron to then spin her around. The apron knee hits! “Holy Shida!” climbs up and missile dropkicks Ford won! She drags Ford back up, to suplex for a BRAIN BUSTER! Cover, TWO!!

Kris tags Shida in and Shida drags Nyla up for clubbing forearms. She hammers away on Nyla and tries to suplex, but Nyla resists. Nyla suplexes back, hangs Shida up on the ropes, but Kris runs in. Nyla kicks Kris and sets her beside Shida! Nyla goes to the corner, springboards for a DOUBLE GUILLOTINE KNEE!! Nyla scrapes Kris out and tags in Penelope. Nyla brings Shida up to lift, Penelope springboards but Kris yanks her down! Shida huricanranas Nyla, runs, and KNEES Her against the ropes! Nyla falls out of the ring and Ford is fed to her for the FALCON ARROW! Cover, TWO!?! Shida doesn’t lose her focus, she runs but Sabian swipes at her! The ref reprimands but Kris DIVES onto him! But Penelope has the title belt and SMASHES Shida with it!! Then she hits the PERFECT PLEX! Bridging cover, Penelope and Nyla win!!
Winners: Penelope Ford & Nyla Rose, by pinfall
The Native Beast is on the winning team, but it’s the Superbad Girl who pinned the champion! Will Penelope move up from fifth to first on Shida’s list of contenders?
AEW hears from Darby Allin.
“I’m still not medically cleared to wrestle, but I don’t give a sh*t.” Tony Hawk tells him that he doesn’t need a doctor’s note to skate. As far as the skating legend is concerned, Darby is cleared and can go have fun. Darby checks his trucks, sets up a little ladder, and starts experimenting with an extremely elevated takeoff. That’s dicey on top of difficult, as Darby falls again and again. But he shrugs it off each time to try again. And again. And again. But finally, he gets it right! Hawk approves, but will Darby be able to get back in the ring that easily?
AEW hears from Britt Baker.
“What makes me a role model? Just my existence in AEW! Coming out to the ring as Dr. Britt Baker, DMD. I am truly inspiring everybody.” But she has put the AEW Women’s Division on notice about this apparent conspiracy to take her out of action. Big Swole has exhausted Britt with her bad attitude and playing the “struggle” card. Swole had just about enough of Britt, too. Britt claims she’s had the most struggles in AEW. She has faced the unexpected her whole life. There was an unexpected microbiology exam she didn’t study for, but she aced it. She has a very prominent image to uphold on top of her physical rehab. She can’t even move her wheelchair with just that little weight attached… Luckily she has Rebel to “spot her.” The fans need a role model, and Britt is happy to fill that role, but the fans need to respect that. Will Britt get the respect she (thinks she) deserves?
The Inner Circle VS Best Friends & Orange Cassidy!
Santana, Ortiz & Jake Hager return to being a trio as they look to put the hurt on Trent, Chuck Taylor and The Sloth for the disrespect Cassidy inadvertently showed them. Will the Inner Circle continue their rebound from Double Or Nothing? Or will Best Friends continue to roll on towards Fyter Fest and the AEW World Tag Team Championships?
Hager, Santana and Ortiz attack Trent, Chuck and Cassidy before the bell! Jericho says, “See what happens?! You want to act nonchalant? Just wait until The Inner Circle kicks your ass!” Hager throws Cassidy out while Ortiz throws Chuckie T. Santana is after Trent in the ring while Hager goes after Cassidy on the stage! Hager throws Cassidy hard then rains down rights. Santana CHOPS Trent while Ortiz whips Chuckie T into barriers! Jericho talks trash all the while as his guys regroup at the corner. Santana throws hands on Trent then throws forearms. The crowd boos but that only motivates Santana to hit Trent harder. Santana CHOPS Trent then CHOPS again! Cassidy and Chuckie regroup at their corner while Santana whips corner to corner. Santana leaps but misses, and Trent gives back those CHOPS!
Trent brings Santana up but Santana knees low. Santana gets mad and runs corner to corner, but into a tornado! He denies the DDT to BOOT Trent down! Trent wobbles and Santana pushes him around. Chuckie FLIES onto Proud ‘n’ Powerful! The crowd fires up as Chuckie brings Ortiz up to whip to Trent’s SPEAR! Jericho no longer likes what he sees as Chuckie puts Ortiz in. Trent and Chuckie want to hug but Hager attacks! Best Friends go after Hager but Santana clobbers Trent!
Hager bumps Chuckie off buckles then tags in. Ortiz brings Chuckie up for a POWERBOMB, then sits him up for Santana’s KICK! Hager runs corner to corner for the HAGER BOMB! Cover, TWO! Chuckie survives but Hager pushes him down. Hager chokes Chuckie but the ref reprimands the Inner Circle. Santana gets a choke in as AEW goes picture in picture.
The Inner Circle gets away with cheating, but Hager brings Chuckie up for body shots. He throws haymakers then stomps Chuckie down. The ref reprimands Hager as he grinds his boot in, but he backs off to sucker punch Trent! Tag to Santana and he stomps a mudhole into Chuckie. Tag to Ortiz and Ortiz brings Chuckie up for haymakers. Santana CHOPS, but Chuckie elbows Hager! Ortiz whips Santana in but Chuckie sends Santana out! Chuckie throws hands, goes up and over Ortiz, hot tag to Trent! Hager tags in but Trent dodges him to hit Ortiz and Santana! Trent throws hands on Hager and even CHOPS! He backs Hager down, whips him corner to corner, but Hager reverses hard! Trent tumbles up the corner, flops back down, and into Hager’s scoop! Hotshot combo with Santana! The crowd boos and the ref reprimands but there’s nothing they can do. Cover, TWO!
Hager keeps his cool as he tags Ortiz in. Ortiz drags Trent up and snap suplexes him down! Cover, TWO! Ortiz looms over Trent while staying between him and his corner. Ortiz swivels the hips and brings Trent up to bump him off Santana’s boot. Tag back to Hager and Ortiz sucker punches Trent! When Cassidy doesn’t flinch, Ortiz takes the sunglasses away and tosses them! Hager throws hands on Trent and Ortiz adds CHOPS! Ortiz and Hager double whip as AEW returns to single picture, and Trent kicks back! Trent baits Hager to dump him out, then dodges Ortiz in the corner to hit a TORNADO DDT! Both men are down and crawling, and Cassidy is ready. Hot tag to Freshly Squeeze!
Hager and Cassidy stare down, and the Shin Kicks fire off! Cassidy puts his hands up, but Hager picks Cassidy up to toss him to the corner! Hager runs in and TOSSES Cassidy, only for Cassidy to roll through to his feet! Cassidy baits Hager in and sends him out of the ring! Cassidy puts his hands in his pockets but PNP go after him! Cassidy dodges them to double huricanrana! And then Cassidy DIVES to take out Hager! Cassidy is TRYING! Cassidy leaps over Santana to crossbody Ortiz! And then he tilt-o-whirl DDT’s Santana! Jericho claims Cassidy is hustling them! Cassidy climbs up top and leaps at Hager, but Hager catches him for a SLAM! Cover, but Best Friends break it! Hager runs but into the Sexy Chuckie Knee! But he catches the Psycho Knee to clothesline Trent out!
Santana whips Chuckie into the stage! Hager drags Cassidy up and tags in Ortiz. Ortiz sets up for Santana to CANNONBALL onto Cassidy! Jericho is all fired up and Ortiz lifts Cassidy in the powerbomb. Santana climbs, but Cassidy fights! Chuckie shoves Chuckie down onto Hager! Cassidy wrenches, traps and cradles Ortiz, BEST FRIENDS WIN!!
Winners: Best Friends & Orange Cassidy, by pinfall
Jericho is furious and he storms off commentary to help The Inner Circle beat down Cassidy, Chuckie and Trent! Floyd the bat comes with him! Baseball bat to Chuckie’s ribs! To Trent’s ribs! And to Cassidy’s HEAD! Jericho just hit a triple, but then PNP hits the powerbomb to Penalty Kick! The referee is intimidated into backing off, and Santana borrows Floyd. Ortiz shouts, “THE BEST! THE BEST!” and Jericho brings out bags and bags of actual oranges. Orange Cassidy comes face to face with his namesake, and they load the oranges into one bag. Jericho tells Cassidy, “You see what happens when you mess with the Inner Circle?” Cassidy is bleeding from the bat shot, but he gets the SUPER ORANGE MAD BALL!! And then again to the back! And to the side!
The blood oranges are beating the pulp out of Cassidy! “Blood Orange Cassidy has just been juiced.” Jericho takes a bite out of an orange while the others squeeze orange juice onto Cassidy. Is this the end of Freshly Squeezed? And what of Best Friends making it to Fyter Fest for their tag title opportunity?
AEW returns to Schiavone interviewing The Gunn Club.
But before he can ask Billy and his son Austin anything, MJF interrupts. He’s sure “Bill” would’ve had something interesting to say, but he wants Schiavone to be a good human mic stand for him. MJF says he has been undefeated for over a year, is the bearer of the beautiful Dynamite Diamond Ring, and is THE #1 Contender for three consecutive weeks. Yet, “Jungle Jack Jabroni” got a title shot before him? Do these people think that make sense? Yes! Well you’re wrong, because it doesn’t! The favoritism in AEW is egregious! There is a reason why MJF is met with nothing but dirty looks. It’s all because the boys know that no matter how good they get in the ring, no matter how much they improve on the mic, or no matter how over they get over with the internet marks, they hit a ceiling. And you are looking at that ceiling! MJF is a Great White Shark in a sea full of minnows!
Well, Billy “hates to interrupt” the minnow, you’re looking at the Great White. Hurr hurr so funny, Billy. But what’s really funny is Billy not trying to get “another one of your scumbag, talent-less sons a job here in this company!” Austin takes offense, MJF shoves him but Billy gets in the way. Billy grabs MJF but MJF calls for his muscle, Wardlow. Billy tells MJF made a mistake tonight but things keep from exploding into brawling. Will this tension between MJF and the Gunns be settled in the ring?
Sammy Guevara VS Colt Cabana!
Le Champion picked a fight with Boom Boom, Colt Cabana and won. Cabana felt down, and the Dark Order offered him a place in their ranks. If Cabana doesn’t defeat the Spanish God, will he #JoinDarkOrder?
The bell rings and Sammy circles with Cabana. Sammy flips Cabana off right to his face. Right in his face, actually. So Cabana gives it back! Sammy doubles down but Cabana headlocks. Sammy powers out, things speed up, Sammy flips but Cabana stops himself to give back the double dirty birds. Sammy swings on Cabana but Cabana dodges to CHOP! Cabana mocks the stinging pain then whips Sammy. Sammy reverses, Cabana goes up and under and then CHOPS again! Cabana runs, ducks and tilt-o-whirls to headscissors! Sammy gets up but runs into an arm-drag! Cabana has Sammy down with an armlock and the crowd fires up. Sammy gets up, Cabana wrenches and wrenches to wristlock. Cabana twists Sammy’s hand all over, and makes him flip himself off!
Sammy gets the ropebreak and Cabana lets go quick, only for Sammy to throw him out! Then Sammy runs and FLIES out to take Cabana down! Sammy almost wrecks himself into the barriers, but he flexes and says he’s the Best Ever. Sammy goes into the ring to leave Cabana behind and AEW goes picture in picture.
Cabana gets up as the ring count climbs but Sammy blows kisses to the camera. Sammy drags Cabana in, covers, ONE! Sammy stays on Cabana at he ropes and stands on him to choke him! The ref counts, Sammy back-flips at 4 and shows off. Sammy kicks the rope to jam Cabana, then covers, TWO! Cabana gets to a corner but Sammy is on him with a CHOP! Sammy snapmares and runs, and runs, and runs, to strut into a chinlock. But Cabana turns that to a victory roll! TWO, and Sammy boots, only to be caught. Cabana spins Sammy but Sammy heel kicks! Cabana wobbles and falls, Sammy covers, TWO! Sammy keeps his cool as he grabs Cabana for a chinlock. Sammy grinds Cabana down but Cabana endures. They go to the mat but Cabana fights his way back up. Cabana throws body shots and gets free, but runs into a waistlock to headlock takeover!
Sammy leans on Cabana with the chinlock but Cabana again endures. Cabana fights his way up again and pries at the hold. Cabana powers up as AEW returns to single picture and he knees Sammy low. Cabana runs, but into a fireman’s carry! Sammy does squats to show off, but Cabana crucifix rolls and BIONIC ELBOWS Sammy down! Sammy flounders to a corner and Cabana runs in. Cabana blocks the first boot but not the second! Sammy hops up but Cabana sees it coming and scoots away. Sammy hops down and runs in, but Cabana BOOTS him in the stomach! Cabana ducks, jabs, jabs, and jabs, to flip, flop ‘n’ fly, BIONIC ELBOW! The crowd rallies up as Sammy returns to a corner. Cabana runs in, FLYING APPLE! Sammy is down, Cabana goes up and double guns, to leap! Sammy moves but Cabana short hops for the splash! Cover, TWO!
Cabana keeps his cool as he circles Sammy like a shark. Cabana drags Sammy up but Sammy ROCKS him with a right! Sammy whips Cabana to a corner, shoulder rams to the apron and enziguris, then springboards, but into Cabana’s hands for a TOSS! Cabana goes up, MOONSAULTS and hits! Cover, TWO!! Cabana is still smiling as Sammy crawls to a corner. Cabana drags Sammy up as the crowd rallies. He hoists Sammy onto the rope and then climbs up to join him. Cabana fireman’s carries but Sammy slips out and torture racks Cabana! G T H!! Cover, Sammy wins!
Winner: Sammy Guevara, by pinfall
The Spanish God gets Cabana as Cabana tried to go above and beyond. And here comes The Dark Order! Evil Uno and Stu Grayson have finally returned, but they are also accompanied by The Beaver Boys, Alan Angels and Preston Vance. Numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 10 stand before their Exalted One, Brodie Lee. Mr. Brodie walks right up to Cabana and offers him a hand. Cabana takes it and Brodie helps him stand up. But no mask has been offered. The Dark Order leaves, and though Cabana hesitates, he does follow them. Is Cabana going to #JoinDarkOrder?
Sammy talks trash as the “big fat loser” leaves, because this is Sammy’s moment! The best damn wrestler AEW has is still going strong, but then Matt Hardy interrupts! What is “this moron’s” problem? Hardy says he has no issues. Then why is he here? Hardy wants to tell Sammy he respects him. When he looks at Sammy, he sees a younger Matt Hardy. He sees someone who has a never-say-die mentality and a death defying mindset. Regardless of how hard Sammy gets hit, he always gets back up. The reality is, Sammy IS the future of AEW. So here is some advice: to realize his maximum potential, Sammy has to leave Chris Jericho. Trust Hardy when he says that. Sammy doesn’t trust Hardy, because Hardy tried to kill him with a golf cart not just once, but twice! That’s a fact! Yes, a Matt-er of Fact!
V1 emerges and shares a fun fact: Matt is a great driver, and enjoys watching Sammy sprint away from golf carts. If Sammy had Hardy’s Matt-tributes- SHUT UP, MORON! Hardy coming out here is so stupid! Sammy doesn’t know if he’s dumb, stupid, BROKEN, whatever! Hardy changes and DAMASCUS shows himself! Samuel Guevara, Damascus joins him in the ring, for these events must be documented! Hardy will MASH Sammy into a Mafongo, and EAT YOU! EAT! EAT! DELETE! DELETE! Sammy has angered the spirit that dwells within this vessel known as Matt Hardy! Will the Spanish God learn to listen to the BROKEN BRILLIANCE?
AEW hears from Joey Janela.
“My name is Joey Janela, and I came to All Elite Wrestling to become a star.” But what happened? The Bad Boy went from wrestling Jon Moxley in an Unsanctioned main event, to fading into the background. Janela says he feels like his best moments are behind him. The crazy days of jumping off a roof to smash through a rack of fluorescent light tubes are definitely a distant memory. “Somewhere along the last six months or so, I lost my direction.” But Sonny Kiss is there to pick him up as if by fate. How will the story of the Bad Boy and the Concrete Rose play out on Dynamite?
Backstage interview with Colt Cabana.
Dasha tries to get him to talk about losing to Jericho and Sammy in subsequent weeks, and The Dark Order reaching out to him all the while, but he shrugs her off. He knocks on the door of The Dark Order, and they let him in. Will Cabana fall in line behind Mr. Brodie Lee?!
AEW sets up big for next week!
After that heated confrontation, Billy Gunn and MJF will have it out in the ring! Will the Ass Man kick Maxwell Jacob Friedman’s ass for everything his mouth has been saying? And of course, there’s the AEW World Tag Team Championship match! Can QT focus on his match and not his new (and meddling) girlfriend? Then, another AEW TNT Championship match will happen! Will Cody Rhodes make it through tonight to take on another hungry challenger? And after the beating the Inner Circle gave Orange Cassidy, the Best Friends look to avenge him against #LeSexGods, Jericho and Sammy! However, the title match at Fyter Fest is on the line! Trent and Chuckie are risking it all for friendship, but will it be worth it?
But that’s not all, as there will be even more tag team action! The Young Bucks take on the Superbad Squad for their part in tonight’s brawling! Will Matt & Nick Jackson show FTR that they really are the best tag team of the last 15 years?
Jon Moxley finally arrives!
The AEW World Champion is here, but he says he’s going to be honest with us. He is in a really bad mood, and not just because his neck hurts, his back hurts and because it hurts to sit on the toilet. That has him on edge, but he has no patience for people who run their mouth when they have no idea what they’re saying. Taz has been telling anyone that will listen that Brian Cage is going to beat Moxley at Fyter Fest? Well if Taz was trying to get under Mox’s skin, IT WORKED! Moxley cannot wait for Fyter Fest, so he can pop Cage’s head like a giant pimple and shut Taz up for good!
“Do you know what separates me from the pack in AEW? I am one miserable son of a b*tch!” The fact that Brian Cage thinks he can beat Mox pisses Mox off! The fact Taz thinks Cage can beat Mox pisses Mox off! The mere idea that anyone in AEW or pro-wrestling anywhere in the world thinks they can beat Mox pisses Mox off!! But it’s what drives Moxley to train harder, hit harder, be more violent and less apologetic. With all due respect to Taz as one of the greatest trash talkers of all time- Speaking of, Taz is here himself! Taz gets in Moxley’s face because he is hearing everything Moxley is saying about him. It’s all chirping! Enough of this! Get your head right because it’s all ending at Fyter Fest. And Cage comes running up behind Moxley to blindside him!!
Cage rains down rights on Moxley then drags him up to club him more! He throws Moxley into trash cans! And then drags him up, but Moxley pushes him into a corner! Moxley throws forearms, then swings a pipe! The car window is smashed but Cage comes back with fists! Cage bumps Moxley off the bumper, then hoists him up to ram him into a fence. SPINE BUSTER onto the car hood! Moxley writhes but Cage drags him up and brings him around. Taz says this is enough, because the message is sent. Cage doesn’t care, and he scoops Moxley to SLAM him on the car’s rear windshield!! Moxley writhes as Taz gets Cage out of there. Will this keep Fyter Fest from happening? Or will it only motivate Moxley to rage against The Machine even more?
AEW hears from Cody Rhodes.
“The reason for me to want to do an Open Challenge is I think an area where people have been critical of my skill set.” The American Nightmare taking a schedule like this, defending the title every week, only to bust himself open week one and then a furious offense from a younger talent, that moment had him thinking, “How did I get here? How will I stay here?” Cody pulled off the win despite all that, because that is how much this title means to him. Cody knows Marq Quen is a ferocious competitor in his own right, and the Open Challenge being what it is, you never know who you’ll get. A normally tag team competitor like Quen still has a chip on his shoulder and high level motivation. The TNT Championship has to be “varsity,” it has to be premier, top shelf, otherwise it doesn’t mean s*it. We’ll see Cody put it all on the line yet again in another main event!
AEW TNT Championship: Cody Rhodes w/ Arn Anderson VS Marq Quen w/ Isiah Kassidy & Matt Hardy!
The Hardy Party might be happening as Matt accompanies Quen and Kassidy out. Quen has the confidence of his best friend and his new mentor behind him, but will he have enough skill to end the American Nightmare’s reign?
AEW returns as Cody and Coach Arn make their way out. The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and the newest test of Cody’s legacy begins!
Cody shakes hands with Quen to show there is respect. They circle, tie up with knuckle locks, and go shoulder to shoulder in a test of strength. Cody gets a leg but Quen clubs him off it. Cody respects that and throws a forearm! Quen throws it back and they brawl back and forth. Cody wobbles but he drop toeholds Quen down to an armlock. Quen fights his way up but Cody yanks on the arm. Cody wrenches, Quen headlocks back, but Cody powers out. Quen runs Cody over and lets out a “WOO~” Quen runs, Cody stays low, but Quen turns him over to standing moonsault! Cover, ONE! Quen stays on Cody with a scoop but Cody slips out to kick low. Rhodes Uppercut and Cody runs, to springboard into a dropkick! Cover, ONE but Quen keeps his cool.
Quen runs but Cody anchors a foot. Cody trips the other leg, slams the leg on the mat, then BUZZSAWS Quen down! Cover, ONE, but Cody does some push ups to show off. Cody drags Quen around to stand on the bad leg. Cody hooks the legs up and grabs at the arms. Quen resists but Cody brings him up for the surfboard, and adds a dragon sleeper! Quen endures but Cody shifts to the arm stretch. Quen fights and gets as AEW goes to picture in picture.
Cody still has wrist control on one arm and he drags Quen up. Quen throws hands but Cody whips him out of the ring. Cody then goes out to bring Quen up and bumps him off the apron. But Quen bumps Cody back! Quen gets in the ring, Cody follows, and Cody stomps the bad leg! Cody drags Quen by that leg to the ropes, to springboard stomp it! Quen clutches his ankle but Cody keeps stomping! The ref reprimands Cody and he backs off, but then stalks Quen back to ropes. Cody goes out to bring the leg around and SLAM it on the apron! Quen writhes in pain but Cody gets back in the ring to stay close. Cody double guns before he brings Quen up on the apron and TOSSES him back in!
Cody whips Quen to a corner, runs in, but into an elbow! Quen boots back, goes out to the apron and springboards, but his leg gives out! Cody covers, TWO! Cody keeps on the bad leg with a toehold, and then stomps away on Quen’s back. Quen kicks back from the mat but Cody catches the foot to bring it to the post! Cody pulls Quen into the post then throws some haymakers. The ref reprimands and Cody backs off, but then he hammers the knee! AEW returns to single picture as Cody slams the leg into the post! Quen writhes and crawls away but Cody stalks behind him. Quen PELES Cody away! The crowd rallies as Quen fires off fast hands in the corner! The ref backs Quen off, Quen argues, but Cody kicks the bad leg out!
Cody drags Quen up and hits a SHIN BREAKER! And then Cody hoists Quen up top and climbs up behind him. Quen fights back with elbows, then cravats for a SUPER SLICED BREAD! Both men are down but the crowd rallies with “SHOTS! SHOTS!” Quen and Cody slowly rise, Quen goes to a corner and QUEBRADAS! Direct hit but Quen keeps going. Quen whips, Cody slides under, kicks but no Rhodes Uppercut this time! Standing Shooting Star! Cover, TWO! Quen grows frustrated but he drags Cody up for a suplex. Cody blocks, suplexes back, but Quen lands on his feet, to then flip around and DDT!?! Cover, TWO!! Cody bails out of the ring but Quen builds speed to FLY! Direct hit topples Cody over! Quen gets back in the ring, runs again and FLIES again! Quen manages it, bad leg and all!
The crowd rallies as Quen gets back in the ring. Quen is just crazy enough to want a third, but he can’t with that bad leg. Cody returns but the bulldog is denied! Quen uses adrenaline for the FOSBURY FLOP!! Arn coaches Cody up but Quen puts Cody in. Quen covers, TWO! Cody is down but Quen heads up top. Arn coaches Cody but the crowd is on Quen’s side. Cody gets to the ramp but Quen just adjusts. Quen 450 SPLASHES TO THE RAMP!! Both men are down as the crowd loses their minds! Arn says this needs to get back in the ring, but Quen is the one who puts Cody in. The crowd duels and Quen takes his jacket off. Quen’s bad leg slows his climb, but he makes it up again. STANDING SHOOTING STAR, but he’s caught into the ANKLE LOCK!!
Quen scrambles, claws, bites his own hand to ignore the pain, but Cody drops down not to grapevine, but to have a modified Deathlock! Cody cranks on that leg as hard as he can with his own legs, and Quen taps! Cody wins!!
Winner: Cody Rhodes, by submission (still AEW TNT Champion)
Marq Quen may not have won the match or the title, but he just won a lot of points with Cody and the rest of the AEW roster! Will Quen come back for another shot when he’s truly 100%? Who is next for the American Nightmare’s gauntlet of his own making? Actually, Jake Hager walks out and stares Cody down from the stage. He steps into the ring and goes after Arn! Cody goes after Hager but Hager elbows and TOSSES Cody away! And then hits a BODY SLAM! Private Party returns with chairs to go after Hager! Chair shot after chair shot rocks Hager, then Hardy clotheslines him out! The Big Hurt is furious and the Inner Circle comes out to reinforce him. It’s a brawl, 4v4!
Cody, Hardy and Private Party hold their own but the chair shots turn around on them! Referees rush out to stop this, but that’s not so easy! Cody swings on whoever, Hardy is after Guevara, TWIST OF FATE! The Inner Circle retreats and regroups, but Cody takes a mic. Hager wants a TNT Championship match for Fyter Fest, doesn’t he? Then he’s getting it! The Big Hurt and the American Nightmare are ready, but will Cody make it through his next two contenders to give us all that fight?
My Thoughts:
A really good episode once again, a lot of strong action and story with only five matches. FTR VS Butcher & Blade was good, and of course FTR wins. I liked the Bucks coming out and the brawl that we got from it. The Bucks will certainly beat the Superbad Squad, but I’m hoping we get a slow build to them having a match with FTR. Those two teams should basically have a round robin against all the other teams in the division before finally getting to each other at All Out 2020. Next week is definitely all about tag teams between both AEW and WWE, as we’re getting the AEW World Tag Championships on the line. The Natural Nightmares taking on Omega and Hangman is definitely to propel the story building between Allie, QT and the others. I feel like it might be too soon for Allie to spring whatever trap she’s set, but you can almost bet she’ll be why the Natural Nightmares lose.
The Six Man Tag was great stuff, and while Best Friends win, the Inner Circle gets creative with the beat down they gave. Using oranges in a super sized mad ball was poetic in a way. But now that Le Sex Gods might be able to swoop in and take the title match from Best Friends, things are getting really crazy. I’m betting Mike Tyson returns to distract Jericho to set up their own match and give Best Friends a way to win without really hurting the Inner Circle’s power level. Guevara VS Cabana was pretty good, but it was clear Cabana would lose to push him towards the Dark Order. This story is definitely going places, and I can’t wait to see what number Cabana is given, and if this brings things back around to the Dark Order’s issues with SCU.
We got great women’s action in the tag match. Shida and Statlander sure team up the most often, but it made some sense for them to lose. Penelope gets the pin because she and the Superbad Squad have been doing great work. Shida VS Ford would make for a really good match for Fyter Fest, but I’d go with Shida winning since she really only just got the belt. MJF had a good segment with Billy Gunn, but I feel like Wardlow will/should go after Austin to distract Billy for MJF to get a win. Moxley and Cage brawling in the parking lot was great, and is certainly giving Cage what he needs to be a credible threat. I’m still not sure of his chances at Fyter Fest, but it wouldn’t be out of the question for him to pull it off. Marq Quen looked great even in losing tonight, and I’m thinking Fyter Fest also features a Six Man of Inner Circle VS Hardy Party.
Cody VS Hager is more than likely what we’re getting for Fyter Fest, so the purpose of Cody’s next two matches will be for the purpose of piling on the damage. The story of Cody VS Hager will surely be Cody overcoming being far below 100% to survive Hager. Cody’s booking has all been good on paper, but the pacing seems rushed. His all or nothing attitude on the world championship was basically a year before it was needed, that’s for sure. His promo putting getting busted open last week in perspective does help, but trying to make it feel as if this first month is going to be hell going into a fight with Hager is the rushed part. Cody could hold back half a step and it’d still work in his favor since Hager is this monster, and any damage taken is a huge disadvantage. The idea that this schedule is going to drive him into the ground is being kicked into overdrive, as if Cody is trying to run himself ragged on purpose. But in the end, good matches will be good matches, and Cody still gives us something good each week.
My Score: 9.2/10

That deadly right arm brings down the Swiss Superman, and Brody has six points! Is the Blue League soon going to belong to the House of Black?
Jon Moxley speaks.
“If it turns out that entering this Continental Classic tournament was a bad idea, I won’t find out ’til it’s too late. I’m banged up. Maybe the last four years is finally catching with me, because nobody’s done it anywhere in the world like I do it the last four years. My head hurts, my neck hurts, my back hurts, now my knee hurts. Getting that tingly-ness in my fingers now all the time. I live in pain on a day to day basis like most people couldn’t even imagine. Now on top of that, my head’s not screwed on straight all the time lately. The doctors are prescribing me this medication, that medication.
“And I’m just sick of it all. I’m sick and tired of being sick and tired. I’m sick and tired of being pissed off at my body failing me, I’m sick and tired of being depressed, I’m being sick and tired about being pissed about the entire last year. I’m sick and tired of being pissed off. So I’m gonna do the only thing I know how to do, the only thing I’m good at: I’m gonna wrestle my way out of it. I’m gonna fight my way out of it. I’m gonna put every ounce, every drop of sweat and effort and will I have into winning this Continental Classic tournament.
“This kind of thing, this is what AEW was built on, man. Two guys in the ring, the best wrestlers in the world, giving it their all, feeling that feeling when you’ve given every ounce of yourself in the ring, and pushing the limits, and pushing the boundaries, and making people stand up and go ‘Oh my God!’ What’d I just see?’ Feeling that connection with an audience that loves wrestling as much as we do. That is what AEW is about. Somebody’s gotta step up and win this tournament, and show the world exactly what AEW is, exactly what All Elite Wrestling can be! And that’s just gonna have to be me.
“Because anybody can say what they want but I’m the Ace of the World, b*tch, and that’s just the way it is. And there is nobody in this tournament that can do anything to me worse than what I deal with on a daily basis. Nothing they can do to me that’s worse than fighting the demons that I fight on a daily basis. If you think I’m shot, if you think my trigger’s been pulled, if you think I’m ripe for the picking, please, please, take your shot.” The Maniac is going to go until he can’t go any more, will El Toro Blanco look to take that shot this Wednesday?

Wait! The lights go out! And when the lights come back, JULIA HART is here! Abadon turns around to see her, and the TBS Champion smiles. The lights go out again, and when they come back again, Julia’s gone. Abadon shrieks into the night, will this be like Jason VS Freddy for the title?
Backsatge interview with Samoa Joe.
Alex Marvez says the last time we saw Joe, he was furious that MJF accepted a tag team challenge from “The Devil of AEW.” Joe says why wouldn’t he be? But then someone shouts “SAMOA JOOOE~!” In rolls Roderick Strong & The Kingdom. Roddy tells Joe that Roddy is willing to forgive Joe for trying to end his career with a broken neck not just once but twice. And he knows Joe has his world title match with Max, but c’mon, this is clearly a trap! MJF is the Devil! But hey, Roddy’s best friend “ADAAAM~!” likes Joe and thinks of him as a friend. So as Adam Cole’s best friend, that makes Roddy a friend to Joe.
So hey, Wednesday, it’s a set-up. Those goons will beat the crap out of Joe! And MJF isn’t even here right now! He’s probably plotting how they’re gonna do it! The Kingdom says yeah, Roddy’s right. So just listen to him, okay? Joe chuckles and leaves. Does Joe think they’re joking? Between Joe and “The Devil,” who will have the last laugh on Dynamite?
AEW Continental Classic, Blue League: Andrade El Idolo VS Daniel Garcia!
We saw this showdown before when CJ Perry was recruiting clients, and we saw which way that went. But then will history repeat itself? Or will Red Death ruin Andrade’s start in the Blue League?

Andrade paces, walking off the pain in his leg, while Garcia clutches his neck and shoulder. The ring count climbs, Andrade goes out to commentary to have one of their WOOOOO energy drinks! “WOO~!” Andrade then makes his way around to fetch Garcia, and he SMACKS Garcia off the steel steps! Andrade drags Garcia back up to put in the ring, and he has a cocky cover. ONE, but Andrade stalks Garcia to ropes. Andrade kicks Garcia around, pie faces him, and eggs him on. Garcia huffs and puffs, then CHOPS back! And CHOPS and CHOPS and CHOPS! Garcia whips, Andrade reverses to then CLOBBER Garcia!

Garcia survives many amigos and Menard loves it! But Andrade steps through, only for Garcia to roll through, step through, DRAGONTAMER!! Andrade endures as Garcia bridges back! But Andrade grabs Garcia’s head! But Garcia rolls through!
Andrade wrenches out, hammerlocks and LA SOMBRA DDT!! Cover, Andrade wins!!
Winner: Andrade El Idolo, by pinfall (gains 3 points; Garcia earns 0)
Andrade’s first tournament match is his first win! Garcia is 0-2, Menard says this is a hole they’ll have to dig out of. Andrade still shows Garcia respect, but is Garcia going to be mathematically eliminated before long?
Willie Mack speaks.
“See, Wardlow, I know you’ve been going through a lot of things these past few weeks, putting your hands on people. But one thing you know about me is you don’t put your hands on my friends. Y’see, this is a person who I’ve tagged with and won multiple tag team championships in other promotions with. So what I’ma have to do, is I’ma have to reach out and touch you. So next week, we’re gonna have to do the damn thing in the ring, so guess what? You better pack a lunch, because I’m a big boy, and I’m a big meal to try to eat.” Mack is standing up for AR Fox, but will the Return of the Mack end up Wardlow’s newest victim?
The Kingdom w/ Roderick Strong VS The Iron Savages w/ Jacked Jameson!
Roddy shouts at “DASHAAAA!” to stop, and he has the music cut. First thing’s first, Roddy wants to say to his NEW best friend by proxy, “SAMOAAA Joe.” Listen, Roddy told him the truth back there. They roll down the ring as Roddy says MJF is the Devil and Joe will find out soon. And then those three dweebs in the ring, they ain’t gonna #NeckTheHalls, no. The Kingdom’s gonna beat their… AAAAASS! And Roddy wants to dedicate this to his best friend, whether he wants Roddy to or not, ADAAAM! “Get ’em, fellas!” The Kingdom fire off on The Savages as the bell rings! Bennett DECKS Dirty Bulk Bronson to then help Taven mug Beefcake Boulder!
The Kingdom mock the “DOUBLE CLOHTESLINE!” as they whip, but Boulder breaks through to DOUBLE CROSSBODY! Fans fire up as Boulder shows off the “BEEF! BEEF!” Boulder goes out to get Bennett up, but he SUPERKICKS first! BOSTON BAYONET! Then another BOSTON- NO, Boulder catches Bennett to APRON CHOKE SLAM! Taven WRECKS Boulder with a dropkick, but Bronson DIVES!? Direct hit and Bronson fires up! Bronson puts Taven in, storms up to whip corner to corner. Taven stops himself, ducks under and ENZIGURIS! Roll up, TWO! Taven swings, misses, and Bronson hits a SPINEBUSTER! Cover, TWO!
Fans fire up as Bronson tags Boulder. Boulder swivels and wiggles, then goes up and hup to SAVAGE FLOP as Taven moves! Bronson tags back in, Bennett tags, too. SUPERKICK and fireman’s carry, DEATH VALLEY DRIVER into JUST THE TIP of the knee! The Kingdom shouts #NeckStrong, and then Taven FLIES out onto Boulder! Bennett hauls Bronson up, Taven is on the corner, NECK CHECK PILEDRIVER!! Cover, The Kingdom wins!
Winners: The Kingdom, by pinfall
And then Roddy STRONG KNEES Jacked Jameson! He flounders back out of the ring and The Kingdom helps him get in the wheelchair. The Kingdom rolls out, will they be proven right on all fronts?
Backstage interview with Ethan Page.
Lexi Nair is with All Ego, who has requested this time. Ethan says that ever since losing out on the AEW World Championship to MJF, in his home country of Canada, Ethan has had to regroup and refocus. He’s gotten into the best physical shape of his life, he has been in ROH building up win after win. And so, here Ethan is to make a challenge and check off a bucket list thing. AEW is going back to Canada, and Ethan wants to be THE biggest name in Canadian wrestling. So therefore, to be the King of Canada, he needs his crown. That crown is currently on someone else’s head.
So in Montreal, 1v1, we find out who the best Canadian wrestler truly is, as Ethan calls out KENNY OMEGA! Will The Cleaner give All Ego that opportunity?
AEW hears from Willow Nightingale and Mercedes Martinez.
The Babe with the Power tells Mercedes, “our history goes further back than you probably even realize. I’ve been such a fan, and I’ve admired you so much.” The OG Badass says the first time they met, Willow “was this night little pretty Willow.” Willow says she is constantly disappointed in Mercedes’ behavior as of late, and in herself because she hasn’t been able to beat Mercedes. Mercedes asks how many times must Willow dance her way into Mercedes’ business? Isn’t Willow tired of being everyone’s hero? Next time they meet, Willow will need to be saved. Because Mercedes will dance and stomp all over her.

Winner: The House of Black, by pinfall
Another Collision, another sweep for the Dark Father and his family. The lights go down, but why? The House is already here. But here comes FTR! Cash Wheeler & Dax Harwood storm down to the ring bathed in the magenta light! Malakai tells them that before they do anything, Malakai assumes that they’re both here because they are joining the House. Dax chuckles but Malakai says he is a family man. And we know it’s been weeks. The only people in AEW that have been here for the both of them has been The House of Black. Malakai’s done a lot of things, but not once has he told a lie.
The fans chant “HOUSE OF BLACK!” and Malakai drops the mic for FTR to take. Dax picks it up, but Buddy KNEES him down! Cash goes after Buddy but he gets mugged! Cash still throws hands, but Buddy CURB STOMPS him down! Buddy then drags Dax up, and he makes Dax watch as Malakai sets Cash up! BLACK MASS!! Dax is seething but he can’t get free of Buddy’s chinbar, and Malakai says see! Not one single person has come to help them! And was Malakai right or what? No one is coming to help. Dax flips Malakai off, so he gets BLACK MASS!! Is this going to be the end for FTR in AEW once and for all?
Backstage interview with Toni Storm.
Renee Paquette is with “Timeless Toni,” bringing up last week as Storm accepting the AEW Women’s World Championship, and Storm says yes, she knows, she has no time for these prepared questions. And where is “that man who usually does my interviews? He has so much more poise.” And she isn’t even finished doing her hair because they were too busy with some blonde floosy! And yes, Storm did accept her championship last week, Renee was a dear for presenting that. But Storm was unceremoniously interrupted by Skye Blue!
Storm tells Skye that if she had any advice at all, it’d be to walk backwards! The only time anyone has anything nice to say about Skye, it’s in reference to her bottom! Is Storm supposed to be worried because Skye’s all spooky now? With that little thing on her head? Storm used to wear hats and be spooky. BOO. See? Not that hard. Interrupt her, fine. She can be first to challenge for “this little huckleberry right here.” But until then, chin up, chest out, and oh… she’s bare foot. Sorry. She takes RENEE’S shoe to throw around! Toni is timeless, but will the Storm strike down Chicago Skye?
Skye Blue speaks.
Well first, she sighs. “Toni, I have met you through every single one of your phases, but this little midlife crisis your going through is the most pathetic I have seen thus far. But you haven’t met this Skye Blue. So bring your little butler, bring your little blond bimbo, and whatever 1940s black ‘n’ white crap you got up that robe, because none of it is going to stop me from taking that championship from you. So I’m gonna have my chin up, my chest out, and I’m gonna shove your shoe right up your ass.” Strong words from a fired up challenger, will she be the new leading lady of AEW?
Christian Cage speaks.
Captain Charisma says, “I don’t think it’s any secret to anybody how far back my relationship with Adam Copeland goes. I think I more or less tolerated Adam. He was a hanger-on, he wanted to be like me, which is why he’s always tried to steal my spotlight wherever we’ve gone.” And that held Christian back. Edge got what he never got. He was pushed all the way to the bottom when they broke up as a tag team. But Christian willed himself to the top. he is here to be the best, anyone else is expendable. And Edge wants to take away everything Christian’s built up the last three years? Christian has nothing to prove to himself, but Edge has everything to prove to Christian.
This time, Christian is what everyone talks about. Whether it’s Dynamite, Rampage or Collision, Christian nis on the tip of everyone’s tongue. He is the Face of TNT, the Face of AEW, then, now and forever! Christian has always been better than Edge, and in Montreal, everyone will finally know. But will “The Patriarch” be the one in for a shock when things get Rated R on Wednesday?
El Hijo Del Vikingo VS Kip Sabian!
The AAA Mega Champion is coming off a big trios win last night on Rampage, but Mr. Superbad just thinks of him as the most overrated wrestler on the AEW roster. Will Kip put his money where his mouth is? Or will he be on the losing end of this Collision?

Kip backs up to then run in again, CANNONBALL! Kip drags Vikingo to a cover, TWO! Vikingo is hanging in there but Kip keeps cool as Collision goes to break.
Collision returns and Kip ROCKS Vikingo with forearm after forearm. Fans boo, Kip whips, but Vikingo rebounds, gets under, and DREAMCAST KICKS! Kip flops against ropes and fans rally with Vikingo. Vikingo runs in at the corner, but stops as Kip moves. Kip returns, into a scoop and torture rack! Argentine Flip KNEE STRIKE! Like an inverted GTS! Vikingo drags Kip back to another drop zone, but Kip goes after Vikingo as he climbs!

Winner: El Hijo Del Vikingo, by pinfall
The AAA Mega Champion cools off Kip’s hot take, because no one who can do what Vikingo did in this match is “overrated!” But Vikingo does show Kip a sign of respect by offering a handshake. The fans cheer to shake hands, but Kip says no! Will Kip ever get over himself? Will Vikingo earn even more gold in the New Year?
Backstage interview with Keith Lee.
Lexi is with the Limitless One, and says last time, he mentioned “him.” Just who is “him?” But then in walks Shane Taylor, because he knows who “him” is! Because Keith ain’t dumb enough to look past Shane. But last year’s match didn’t solve anything, so this year, they give the people the fight they really wanna see. Keith VS Shane, 1v1, Final Battle, so Shane can beat Keith’s ass in front of the entire world! Keith thinks on that a moment. Challenge accepted. And see #TAIGASTYLE later, too. Then in two weeks, in Garland, Texas, will that truly be the Pretty Boy Killers’ Final Battle?
Backstage interview with CJ Perry.
Lexi and CJ are outside Andrade’s office, and notes that Andrade’s first win was impressive. UH OH, here comes Miro! Miro says move, CJ says no! Miro can’t go in there! She knows he thinks things will go poorly, but when Miro chose his god over her, she has to prove herself. By Andrade winning, it will help CJ. So if Miro wants to go in there, fine, he’s a grown man. But if there is any love left for CJ, do not do this. Do not lay a hand on her client. Please? Miro says if His God was still with him, he would be in this tournament and have ripped Andrade’s spine out already! Miro then caresses CJ’s face, and says he won’t touch her client. She has his word.
Miro storms off, but what will The Redeemer do to prove himself worthy of gold in the background of the Continental Classic?
AEW Continental Classic, Blue League: Bryan Danielson VS Eddie Kingston!
The American Dragon was the first entrant named to this tournament, but could not compete in it until now. And he doesn’t think The Mad King is ready if one loss takes away all the confidence he had going into this. Will Bryan just pour fuel on that fire? Or will Eddie be the one to earn his first points tonight?
The bell rings and we’re on the clock. The fans fire up as Bryan and Eddie stare down. They slowly circle and approach. They feel things out, knuckle lock, but then Eddie tests things with a kick. Bryan stays back, they reset, and Eddie guards a kick. Bryan keeps trying but Eddie pushes back. Bryan uses ropes as a defense and the fans boo. Bryan smirks as he and Eddie reset, and they test the waters again. Bryan gives kicks, Eddie walks it off, and they feel things out again. Eddie fires off hands, clinches Bryan on the ropes, and the ref counts. Eddie puts Bryan in a corner, the ref counts but Bryan turns things around.
Bryan lets off slowly, but then CHOPS! Eddie just snarls while fans “WOO~!” Eddie storms up on Bryan, they feel things out, and Eddie tries some kicks now. Winner: Bryan Danielson, by pinfall (gains 3 points; Eddie earns 0)
THIS is the fight Bryan wanted from Eddie! But in the end, Bryan is the one to win the fight! Will Bryan keep on going through his next four fights? Eddie is technically still ROH World & NJPW Strong Openweight Champion, but with an 0-2 start, has he all but lost them both?
My Thoughts:
A great Collision, with awesome Continental Classic matches, but also matches they kayfabe’d as “standby” to try and kayfabe the tournament matches not going closer to their 20 minute time limits. A weird move to me but it’s not like we haven’t seen such a move by American televised pro-wrestling before. And surprisingly great stuff out of Vikingo VS Kip, but that was partly the point. Kip calls Vikingo overrated, then gets beat by Vikingo to show how legit Vikingo is, and there could even be a rivalry in the making or something. Kip still has Butcher & Blade to call on, that trio could take on Vikingo, Komander & Penta at some point.
Good match from Abadon and Kiera, with a really good win for Abadon. Julia showing up to basically call Abadon out was an interesting move but I also like it. Different kinds of spooky wrestlers are going to collide, this will be a good program for them both. And very good promos from both Storm and Skye to hype up their title match this Wednesday. Renee definitely looked like she was struggling to not break during Storm’s part, that’s how good Storm is. And I would think Storm retains because she’ll have Luther and Mariah May ringside. And good promo from Willow and Mercedes to set up their match, that’ll be really good stuff.
Good promo from Willie Mack to call out Wardlow but I would think Wardlow beats him to continue his dominance. Good promo from Christian to add some final hype onto the TNT Championship match. And good promo from Ethan Page to not just plug his time in ROH, but also to call out Kenny Omega. Ethan VS Omega is going to be really good, but that probably ends up being Omega’s win to build momentum going into the next round against Don Callis Family. But it also just makes me think Tony Khan still doesn’t get how ROH is supposed to matter. Ethan is in the middle of stuff with Tony Nese and he’s dividing his attention by wanting to be King of Canadian Wrestlers? What?
But thankfully, we did get a promo from Keith Lee and Shane Taylor to finally set up that match. And I do appreciate that it will be part of Final Battle since that’s where this feud started. Anything to make up for poor ticket sales and no ROH World Championship. Or even tag team championship at this point, right? The Kingdom called out MJF but MJF hasn’t taken the time to respond, he has The Devil of AEW to worry about. Good promo from Joe with Roddy & The Kingdom before The Kingdom beat The Iron Savages. Roddy was extra dramatic in his floundering out of the ring this time, can’t wait to see whether he and The Kingdom are still in on the whole Devil goon squad stuff.
Very good tag match from House of Black VS Daniels & Sydal but of course the House won. And good promo with FTR that then turned into a beatdown. That tag match is definitely going to be big for like Winter is Coming. And then, the Continental Classic. Great opening match from Claudio VS Brody, with a great win for Brody to lead the way in this block. And just as I expected, while we got awesome showings in the other matches, Garcia and Eddie each lost to Andrade and Bryan. Good promo for Miro wanting after Andrade but showing mercy for CJ’s sake. That feud probably waits until after the tournament, assuming Andrade isn’t a finalist. Worlds End would be a good PPV for Miro VS Andrade to happen as part of this ongoing story.
I also appreciated Eddie saying he doesn’t want to do cold open promos when he has a big match to get ready for. Doing coverage like I do, I don’t want to fall behind on the broadcast already trying to keep up with what people are saying at the very start like that. Even Claudio did a short promo because he also just wants to have his match, so they really should just have the matches and save promos for later in the night.
My Score: 8.8/10

Yuta joins commentary while Menard bumps Hook off buckles, and reels him in for a big suplex! Tag to Parker and he stomps Hook down. Parker stomps more, then pushes Hook around. Parker tags Uno, they mug Hook. Uno then bumps Hook off the boots of Menard and Reynolds.
Reynolds tags in, he runs side to side to ELBOW Hook! Uno SPLASHES, short arm LARIATS, and Reynolds covers, TWO! Reynolds stands on Hook’s head, fans boo but the Dark Order and X-JAS soak up the heat. But Hook clinches! Reynolds fights with forearms, then he bumps Hook off buckles. Tag to Menard, he stomps Hook then lets off to distract the ref, Uno and Parker CHOKE Hook while Rampage goes picture in picture!
Menard stomps Hook, drags him up, and ROCKS him with a right. Menard pushes Hook around, soaks up the heat, but turns around into a CHOP! Menard trips Hook, drags him back, and tags Parker in. Parker CLUBS Hook down, then stomps him. Parker taunts the Best Friends, flicks his hair gel at them, then goes back to Hook. Parker CLUBS Hook, tags Uno, and they mug Hook some more. Uno scrapes his laces on Hook’s face then tags Parker back in. Parker stomps Hook, but Hook powers Parker back! They end up on ropes, Parker KNEES Hook back! Parker then BLASTS Cassidy off the corner!
Rampage returns to singe picture as Parker goes after Hook, and Hook gets around to NORTHERN LIGHTS! Parker tags Menard but Hook LARIATS Menard down! The fans fire up as Hook and Menard crawl, hot tags to Trent and Uno! Trent rallies on Uno, then on Reynolds! GERMAN SUPLEX! And then another GERMAN SUPLEX! Reynolds goes up but Trent YANKS him down for a SAIDO! Fans fire up with Trent!
Trent tags Cassidy, and Cassidy storms up to “unleash.” But then he really does fire off BOOT after BOOT on Dark Order! Yuta sighs as this is typical Cassidy. Cassidy dodges the Dark Order’s double lariat to DOUBLE SHOTGUN! Cassidy kips up and the fans fire up! Cassidy ducks ‘n’ dodges and tilt-o-whirls, but Uno stops the DDT to suplex! Only to get STUN DOG MILLIONAIRE! Cassidy keeps moving but Uno BOOTS him! Uno hooks Cassidy up, for SOMETHING EVIL! Cover, Trent KNEES it apart! Fans fire up, Reynolds BOOTS Trent! Reynolds runs in to BOOT Cassidy in a corner! Reynolds puts Cassidy up top!
Reynolds ROCKS Cassidy, climbs up, but Trent runs up to get Reynolds! SUPER GERMAN SUPLEX! Fans fire up as Cassidy adjusts, and Danhausen tags in! But so does Menard! Menard says do NOT do what he thinks he’s gonna do! But then Danhausen CURSES him! And yes, the PURPLE HAT! Hager is pissed, Parker tries to calm him down, but then Hager runs in! Danhausen dodges, Trent & Cassidy dump Hager out! Menard grabs Danhausen, Parker runs in to get the hat back! But Hook gets Parker in the REDRUM!! Menard lets Danhausen go, but Danhausen rolls him up! BEST FRIENDS WIN!
Winners: Orange Cassidy, Hook, Danhausen & Trent Beretta, by pinfall
Not only is X-JAS furious, but Yuta says this is unbelievable. But will the Decoder have to worry about the much more Cold-Hearted Handsome Devil?
Backstage interview with The Outcasts & Anna Jay.
Renee Paquette is with Saraya, Ruby Soho & The Star of the Show to say they are teaming up for the first time in Six Woman Tag action. Saraya says yes they are, and sorry for cutting Renee off, Renee knows Saraya loves her, but… Isn’t Anna just the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen? Ruby sighs and Saraya says “Liza Minnelli” is in a time out so shush. Anyway, Saraya thanks Anna for teaming with them, Lord knows they’ve needed some extra help around here. And also, they do have something in common that is giant, greasy, irritating, and needs to be handled. Oh, speaking of, here it comes.
Parker walks in, apologizes for not being here sooner, and then says hi to Ruby. But uh, yeah, the guys are ready to go, they’ll be out there for her, team effort! Um, no, Anna doesn’t want the boys out there. Especially Parker. What? But Saraya says this is why she loves Anna! She’s great. Yeah, she is. Hey, no, stop looking at Ruby. Saraya drags Ruby along, leaving Parker alone. Will the X-JAS still even be the X-JAS anymore with all this drama?
Tony Schiavone is in the ring.
Schiavone says that 28 years ago, in this town, at the Mall of America, two men were in the main event for the very first wrestling match ever on TNT. It was Sting VS Ric Flair. And Schiavone wants to also say that the final match on TNT back then was Sting VS Ric Flair. So it gives Schiavone a sense of pride to welcome one of Minnesota’s favorite sons, as well as STIIIING~! The Icon makes his way out to the ring and fans howl for him. Schiavone then introduces the Nature Boy, the Minnesota native, Ric Flair! Fans “WOO~!” as Flair makes his way out now, and hugs Sting in the ring.
Schiavone has them bring it in. Wednesday night, they announced the location of Sting’s final match at AEW Revolution, March 3rd, 2024. It will be Greensboro, North Carolina, where these two set the standard for a great televised wrestling event. Sting stands at 24-0, the longest undefeated streak standing, and we’re just two weeks away from tickets going on sale. Sting asks to take the mic, and he howls for the fans! The fans howl back and Sting says Minneapolis, lots of great memories here! Not only did he and Ric do the first and last WCW shows on TNT here, but they did the very big, gigantic- Oh, can’t really say that on TV, sorry. Copyright and stuff.
But the massive match at Mall of America, everyone knows about it. Sting’s had great matches here against and with Lex Luger, Bam Bam Bigelow, and lots of other great memories. So good to be back. Thank you for those memories. Thank you, Tony Khan, Tony Schiavone and the Nature Boy! WOO~! Ric takes the mic now, and he says, “Wow. From 1972 ’til today. And believe it or not, I’m still alive. And that’s saying a lot, heh. Because I’ve covered a lot of ground and had a lot of fun. But there are three or four people that are always gonna be special in my life, and you’ll love these names.
“Dusty Rhodes, Ricky The Dragon, and a guy that I think I’ve wrestled at least 15 hundred times over our career, the great–and the word ‘Icon’ does not even enough to begin to say what a man he is. I’m so serious, to be back in my hometown in this moment, and this ride. This is an incredible ride. Think about the history of our business. I’ve been there with him since ’88, and I’m gonna be there with him in the end. And man, that doesn’t happen in real-life, guys. And y’know what? We’ve stayed as respectful and honest with each other as the day we met, and that’s really unusual. You’re the man, brother.”
Fans cheer, and Ric says, “We’re gonna dance all night and dance a little longer. We’re gonna stay up all night and stay a little longer. I cannot tell you where we’ll be at like the old days, but you know we’ll be going AEW strong! WOO~!” Fans echo “WOO~!” with Ric and Schiavone says Ric will be there for Sting at AEW Revolution, tickets on sale soon! The Icon and Nature Boy are riding off into the night, and we have the when and where. Now all we need is, who faces Sting in his final match?
Backstage interview with Hikaru Shida, Kris Statlander & Skye Blue.
Renee is now with the Shining Samurai, the Galaxy’s Greatest and Chicago Skye as she says a lot has changed in the AEW Women’s Division after Full Gear. Shida lost the AEW Women’s World Championship to Toni Storm, and Statlander lost the AEW TBS Championship to Julia Hart, the same match Skye Blue was in. Does tonight feel like a way to get momentum back? Kris says it has been a hard pill to swallow. “You work so hard for something, and you come back from multiple injuries, you come back and change yourself so many times, and you obtain something so precious, and it’s just taken away in a matter of seconds.”
And worse yet, Kris wasn’t the one who got pinned. Oh, okay, blame Skye when Kris had plenty of chances to win the Triple Threat, and didn’t. Shida tells them to stop. She also lost a title, she also feels angry, but not towards them. Not towards her partners. They can take their anger out on their opponents tonight! Kris agrees with that, and so does Skye. Will this trio of stars be able to bring down The Outcasts and Star of the Show?
The Don Callis Family VS JAH-C
So what if they lost the Like A Dragon Street Fight? “Powerhouse” Will Hobbs did damage to Paul “The Giant” Wight like no man has ever done before, and there’s still a lot left in the tank for Kyle Fletcher & Konosuke Takeshita. Will they only be made stronger from that loss?
The teams sort out, Hobbs starts and Jah throws hands! Hobbs doesn’t even flinch! Jah runs, but Hobbs CLOBBERS him! In runs ??? but Hobbs picks him up to SPINEBUSTER! D runs in but Hobbs SPINEBUSTERS him, too! Fletcher & Konosuke step in, they all get a man up, and in synchronized formation, we get the WORLD’S STRONGEST SLAM, GRIMSTONE and BASTARD DRIVER!! Cover, The Don Callis Family wins!
Winners: The Don Callis Family, by pinfall
Fans boo but Callis celebrates with his “family.” Then Callis gets a mic to talk. “Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega! The Golden Jets! You put two of the greatest of all time into a tag team and what do you got? You got a team that could be the most dominant of all time. And I know that wins and losses matter here in All Elite Wrestling. But in the Don Callis Family, the only thing that matters is winning! And whether it’s singles, tag, or trios, the Don Callis Family will continue dominating until there’s nowhere for the Golden Jets to hide in AEW!” The ultimatum has been issued, will it only be a matter of time before AEW belongs to the DCF?
Prince Nana & Brian Cage talk with The Workhorsemen.
Nana says it is an unbelievable time for the Mogul Embassy. Cage says it’s always a great time. Nana says the Gates of Agony are in NJPW World Tag League, killing it and bringing home that money. But tonight, Nana needs to hire some help, and that brings in JD Drake & Anthony Henry. Nana has been watching them, he likes their style. That is why tonight, he needs their services. And this could be a huge opportunity for you both to step up to the plate and to prove a point. To impress Swerve Strickland, too. So tonight, Nana’s paid them, get the job done, and we’ll see if they can join the team. But he believes in them!
Nana & Cage head out, will Scrap metal & The Saint of Augusta help The Machine bring down the luchador trio in tonight’s main event?
Six Woman Tag: Anna Jay & The Outcasts VS Hikaru Shida, Skye Blue & Kris Statlander!
Both sides have said what’s on their mind, but it’s the emotions in their hearts that could make or break these team-ups. Will Saraya be able to keep things together between Anna and Ruby? Or will it be Shida who struggles to keep Skye and Kris on the same page?
The teams sort out and Kris starts against Anna. The fans rally as the two circle, then tie up. Kris waistlocks, SLAMS Anna, then drags her up to tag Shida. The ref counts again, Anna lets off and distracts the ref so Saraya can SLAP Skye. Anna bumps Skye off buckles, Ruby tags in, and Anna ROCKS Skye. Ruby CHOPS Skye, stalks her to a corner, and stands her up, but Skye avoids the chop to CHOP! And CHOP! And CHOP! Skye and Ruby sputter and drop to their knees while Rampage goes to break.
Rampage returns and hot tag to Kris! She BLASTS Ruby, drags Saraya up and FISHERMAN BUSTERS! Cover, but Anna kicks it apart! Anna drags Saraya back and tags herself in. Anna stands Kris up, wrenches and HOOK KICKS! Then Saraya KNEES Kris down! Cover, TWO! Anna drags Kris up, QUEENSLAYER SLEEPER! But Kris powers up to back suplex free! Ruby runs in, STO! Skye SUPERKICKS Ruby! Saraya YAKUZA KICKS Skye! Shida ROCKS Saraya, whips her but Saraya reverses, only for Shida to JUMP KNEE! Anna BOOTS Shida! Kris runs up, but into a COMPLETE SHOT! Anna tags Ruby and they get Kris up.

Winners: Hikaru Shida, Skye Blue & Kris Statlander, by pinfall
The dysfunction wasn’t enough to bring down Skye and Kris, they made it work and now celebrate together! As for Anna, she is furious with Ruby, and Saraya pulls Ruby along like an angry mother with her daughter. Are the Outcasts going to be on the outs sooner rather than later?

The implosion of Nana’s team all over a misunderstanding gives Penta’s team their first victory together! Will Penta, Komander y Vikingo take this momentum to next beat Action Andretti & Top Flight?
My Thoughts:
A really good Rampage here with a lot of tag team action. There must be something in Cassidy’s contract about opening shows, though, because that 8 Man Tag certainly felt main event worthy. But then it made sense in story that it had to go first so that the X-JAS could be in action before Anna, and Anna would tell Parker to stay in the back during her match because of how Ruby would be involved. Great win for Cassidy’s team, and great win for the Faces in the Women’s Trios match. Rather surprised Skye is getting her shot at Storm so soon. Yes, she interrupted Storm’s acceptance speech moment, and won here, but why not give us a promo segment between them first, then the match on Winter is Coming. But at the same time, debut in Montreal, they want it to be important.
Of course Don Callis Family squashes jobbers, but I like that we got to see Hobbs, Konosuke and Fletcher all in red ring gear. And seeing Don Callis’ Last Supper parody, it makes me think he wants a total of 11 faction members. I say 11 because “Judas” is already accounted for in Jericho. So far, he has five, Callis really is gonna have to recruit tag teams and/or trios if he wants an easier time of filling out the group. Really good main event from Penta’s team going against Cage & Workhorsemen. Of course the Faces win, but also it was clear the Workhorsemen were going to take the loss for the Heels. Kinda wished Cage would beat down the Workhorsemen after the loss, not because of the “misunderstanding” trope, but that’d probably take away from the Faces celebrating.
And given Rampage is prerecorded, turns out that was for the best this week. I’d only just heard today about how… controversial Ric Flair got in his part of the promo segment. Flair also tweeted about it, both apologizing and not apologizing for what he said. This is gonna be a long three months if everyone has to worry about Flair spouting off the stuff he got away with in the 1980s when he was much, MUCH younger. That aside, the entire segment was redundant anyway, we heard them talk on Dynamite, this is the same crowd that heard it all, it’s just a waste of time.
My Score: 8.5/10
