BREAKING NEWS for Double or Nothing!
On Sunday, May 29th, as AEW goes to Las Vegas, it will be the Cowboy and the Best in the World going 1v1 for the AEW World Championship! Will Hangman Page be able to prove he is better than the Best in the World? Or will CM Punk have none of that #CowboyShit and take the title?
Speaking of, Punk has a mic and he goes to the ring! He gets a good look at the graphic and says he’ll try to keep this short so the action can keep going. How about what we just saw in Dax VS Cash? Fans cheer that one for sure, and he says he has never been in a locker room with more talent than here in AEW. It was seven or eight months ago, when he walked out through the curtain here for the first time in seven years, and he asked himself, “Can I still do this? And now I can probably stand here in front of my fans here in Philadelphia and says, HELL YEAH, I can still do this.” Fans cheer that, too!
Punk is a fan of Hangman. Fans like him are pretty big on Hangman, too. This isn’t to disparage anyone else Punk’s faced here in AEW, except maybe Eddie Kingston, but from Darby Allin to Dustin Rennels/Rhodes, everyone up until now has just been a warm-up. Punk is getting warm and he promises us one thing: that he can’t promise us a win. He will promise us he will always give 100% for the fans because with the fans, there is no CM Punk! Without the fans, Punk doesn’t come back after seven years. Without fans, he doesn’t make it to Double or Nothing.
Double or Nothing is in Las Vegas, Nevada, but Punk has never been a gambling man. But Hangman, Punk will always bet on himself. Win, lose or draw, Double or Nothing, Hangman will know he was in a FIGHT with CM Punk. And Punk will fight until the wheels fall off! The Best in the World throws down the mic after having thrown down the gauntlet, will Hangman be ready for #ClobberingTime in Vegas?
Scorpio Sky and Dan Lambert speak.
Lambert starts by saying, “Scorpio Sky does not find himself fighting for the TNT title on Dynamite by some fluke or accident. This is not a coincidence.” Scorpio says no it is not. It was not coincidence that he was one half of the inaugural AEW World Tag Team Champions. It was not coincidence that he went on to win the inaugural Face of the Revolution Ladder Match. It was not coincidence that he went on to have a 402 day unbeaten streak that led him to becoming TNT Champion. Only to be screwed out of it in his second defense. But Sammy, Scorpio isn’t here to complain, and he didn’t ask Frankie Kazarian to step aside if he intended on losing.
Scorpio gives Sammy Guevara credit where it’s due. Sammy’s given the fans some of the greatest moments they’ve ever seen. But this Philly crowd ain’t here for that. They’re here to see Scorpio beat some ass and take back what is rightfully his! “There can only be ONE Face of TNT, and you’re looking at it.” The lights go out with a snap of the fingers, but will it take everything Scorpio has in his body to get revenge on the Spanish God?
Six Man Tag: Blackpool Combat Club w/ William Regal VS The Factory w/ Anthony Ogogo!
The trio of Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta may only be 2-0, but it is a very strong 2-0 against some serious competition. Will it only get more serious as they take on QT Marshall, Aaron Solo & Nick Comoroto?

QT and Solo each get a REAR NAKED CHOKE from Bryan and Moxley!! Solo then turns Comoroto for the Seatbelt Cradle, BCC wins!
Winners: Blackpool Combat Club, by pinfall
A perfect 3-0 for this dangerous trio, and Philly cheers their hometown hero! Will the BCC soon take over AEW from top to bottom?
Backstage interview with Britt Baker, Jamie Hayter and Toni Storm.
Tony Schiavone again interviews these three Owen Hart Women’s Tournament entrants, and he thanks them for again agreeing to no physicality. Britt says that’s right, NO physicality. Toni doesn’t have to worry about them getting her. But that means no just leaving, either. They just wanna talk. Toni says that’s fine, too. She won’t go anywhere. Obviously Britt has her little friend in Hayter. And as she said before, she’ll see Hayter in the first round. But Britt, you should say hello to Toni’s friend, another woman who qualified for this tournament. It’s Ruby Soho!
Ruby says there’s a pattern here with Britt’s group. Any time someone new shows up, Britt and Hayter throw their proverbial… weight around, and maybe it’s because Britt is insecure after losing her title. But there’s always something Britt has to say. The late, great Owen Hart once said, “Enough is enough, and it’s time for a change.” And Ruby can’t think of a better change than to just drop Britt and Hayter right here, right now. Hayter dares Ruby to do it. But no, no physicality, and there’s stuff to do. Britt and Hayter are gonna visit Ruby’s home sweet home, aka catering. Ruby points out the hypocrisy in them leaving when they told Toni not to leave.
The Doctor and her assistant may have backed down from a fight tonight, but will they both end up bounced from the tournament at the hands of Soho and Storm?
Backstage interview with Jurassic Express and Christian Cage.
A tough week for Jungle Boy in losing that Owen Hart tournament qualifier. And though he doesn’t want to sound like a sore loser, last week really stung for him because he knows he could’ve won, but didn’t finish Kyle O’Reilly when he had the chance. Captain Charisma says Jack doesn’t sound like a sore loser, he just sounds like a loser. But he isn’t a loser, he has that AEW World Tag Team Championship title and should have it on his shoulder where it belongs. That was a teachable moment last week, Jurassic Express are still champions and they can right a wrong. Christian issues a challenge to any of the top five tag teams in AEW right now!
But before he even finishes saying that, Ricky Starks & Will Hobbs walk in. Hello, how are you? Team Taz is the NUMBER THREE team, so hello, Christian and hello, Smooth Brain-asaurus and Punkass Boy! This is what they’re issuing: anytime, any place, from Dynamite to Rampage to AEW’s YouTube, Jurassic Express VS Starks & Hobbs. Please, he implores them, “Let’s do it, boys.” Team Taz heads of and Luchasaurus roars. Is that challenge as good as accepted?
Wardlow VS Lance Archer w/ Jake the Snake Roberts!
The Pinnacle has been yanking the “War Pig” around while running away, but he hasn’t stopped chasing after them. The Murderhawk Monster is the newest mercenary MJF is paying to pulverize the big bad piggy, but has he only set Archer up for a Powerbomb Symphony? Or will Archer conduct an overture of #EverybodyDies?
And of course, MJF has to make his presence known. He has the music cut, because he and Shawn Spears are back up in the VIP section with popcorn and bubbly. “Spears, really quick, buddy. I’m seeing a lot of women here in this audience. Hey, do you know what women in Philadelphia use as birth control?” “No, what, Max?” “Their personalities.” The Pinnacle laughs it up but fans boo. They wanna boo MJF, huh? Well they’ll get even more upset when MJF’s boy, Archer, DECIMATES “War Pig!” Archer will silence each and every fan here! And speaking of silence, the man coming out to no music once again, and the fans better keep their mouths shut!
As per the restrictions put on Wardlow last week, he is cuffed while being escorted out by security guards. Fans do their best to sing Wardlow’s song from memory, and the cuffs are removed. Jake the Snake is talking trash, but then Archer CANNONBALLS onto Wardlow and the guards! The ref reprimands, Archer tells him to shut up, and then he throw Wardlow into the ring. Archer gets in, the bell rings, and Wardlow dodges to RANA Archer?! Wardlow can do a huricanrana?! Wardlow fires off on Archer, whips him corner to corner, but Archer reverses and redirects Wardlow. Wardlow goes up and over and even rolls!
Wardlow comes back to RAM into Archer! Wardlow EuroUppers, RAMS, and repeats! The ref counts, Wardlow hauls Archer up onto his shoulders! Fans fire up, Wardlow SLAMS Archer down! Fans want it to begin and Wardlow reels Archer in. But Archer slips out and choke grips! Wardlow fights it off! Only for Archer to make it an IRON CLAW instead! Wardlow clubs that away, dodges again, DOUBLE LARIATS take them both down! Spears shouts things while MJF is upset. A standing count starts, both men get up at 5 of 10. Wardlow and Archer trade big shots, and Archer only fires up.
Wardlow fires another shot but Archer hits him back. The fans rally as the shots keep flying, and Wardlow gets the edge! Wardlow RAMS Archer back into a corner, then goes corner to corner. Wardlow blocks a boot but Archer ROCKS him with a forearm! Archer knuckle locks, CLUBS away on Wardlow’s back, then he goes up the corner. Archer goes Old School, and MOONSAULTS! Fans fire up and MJF is finally happy here. Archer has Wardlow in a choke grip, for a CHOKE SLAM! Cover, TWO!! Wardlow survives and Archer is upset, but Archer just drags Wardlow back up.
Archer brings Wardlow to a corner, hoists him up top, inverted crucifix lift and BLACKOUT BOMB!! Cover, TWO!?! And into a ghost pin! TWO!!! Archer CLUBS away on Wardlow in frustration! Archer puts Wardlow back up top and he wants it again! Inverted crucifix, but Wardlow CLUBS back. Archer ROCKS Wardlow, climbs up after Wardlow, but Wardlow fights back again. Archer CLUBS Wardlow but Wardlow HEADBUTTS! And HEADBUTTS, and HEADBUTTS again and again! Archer falls, Wardlow adjusts, SWANTON BOMB!! Cover, TWO!! MJF is stressing out but Wardlow fires up as he brings down the straps!
Wardlow gets Archer up and in, POWERBOMB! But the Symphony is only beginning! MJF is furious and Wardlow gets Archer back up! POWERBOMB! Wardlow conducts the carnage and he gets Archer up again. POWERBOMB THE THIRD!! And then right into POWERBOMB THE FOURTH!! Cover, Wardlow wins!!
Winner: Wardlow, by pinfall
Fans sing for “WARD~LOW!” as he finishes off another monster! Wardlow is cuffed and escorted away, but will MJF have no choice but face the man he’s holding down?
The Jericho Appreciation Society heads to the ring!
Chris Jericho leads Jake Hager, Daniel Garcia, Matt Menard and Angelo Parker out, a table already waiting in the ring. This is to be a sit-down negotiation between the JAS and the trio of Eddie Kingston, Santana & Ortiz with absolutely zero physicality, with threat of fines and suspensions coming down from Tony Khan himself. Fans sing Judas and Parker has them stop. “The world’s greatest promotor, Tony Khan, gave this time to the Jericho Appreciation Society because he knows, just like each and every one of you, sports entertainers are best for business.” Fans boo because they don’t agree.
Parker says in order to have their little sit-down, they had to promise Khan and the “AEW Galaxy” there would be NO physicality. It has been agreed upon by the JAS, and it has been agreed upon by “those rats,” Santana, Ortiz & Kingston. Now get them out here! The Mad King makes his entrance with Proud ‘n’ Powerful and they go right to the ring. They toss their chairs aside, Garcia dares someone to throw hands but Ever-Rise and the rest want this to stay peaceful. Jericho gets the mic and tells fans to shut up with the “Eddie! Eddie!” chants. That only makes them chant it more.
Jericho wants everyone to keep this in mind. The Earth is 4.5 BILLION years old, and we’re all lucky to be living in the Chris Jericho Era. And yet Kingston and his crew deprived the people of Pittsburgh from seeing Chris Jericho last week when the JAS was kicked out of the arena for Rampage! They’re the ones people pay to see! People pay to see the JAS! Fans boo because no, they don’t. Jericho says that he is asking- NO! Demanding! Jericho demands an apology for himself. NOW! Apologize to the JAS! Ortiz says “Christopher” wants an apology from them? Where are their manners? In fact, Ortiz can do them one better, just hold on.
Ortiz checks his pockets. He swears he has it on him. Ortiz brings out a MIDDLE FINGER! In fact, doesn’t Santana have something for the JAS? Yes, he does. Hold on, hold on. It’s a MIDDLE FINGER! Santana says Jericho’s problem is that he turned his back on the two dudes that know him best, that were with him in the beginning, in the trenches. Garcia speaks up to say these guys think they’re so tough. They’re throwing out middle fingers and threats, and then Kingston’s manicured eyebrows. Menard shouts about Kingston’s eyebrows, and Kingston plays like he’s styling them. Garcia says the threats don’t mean a thing, cuz it’s not like they can hit the JAS!
Garcia says no one can hit them right now. Then he gets right up in Santana’s face and eggs him on. Menard leans in, and Jericho even tries the step. Menard starts shouting, “What’re you gonna do!?” Kingston says enough already. Just stop and back up. Kingston hates this this crap. He hates the chairs, he’s not a fan of The Sopranos, he doesn’t care for this table or this “sports entertainment” crap! Jericho, Kingston told you that they’re gonna get got regardless, so just stop with the crap and fight him! It doesn’t matter that this is 5v3, Kingston just wants to fight! Kingston and Jericho stare down and Philly fires up!
Jericho smirks and says, “Here’s the problem, Kingston. It is 5 on 3, and you stupid sons o’ bitches aren’t smart enough to realize it. So we’re gonna take you out one by one by one. The JAS is putting a hit on all your asses!” Kingston wants to respond but he tells Garcia and the others to shut up, he swears on his mother. Kingston asks Jericho if he even knows what “a hit” means. Does he? Look Kingston in the eyes. Kingston says that “a hit” in his world means to end it. Kingston won’t let Jericho look away, either. Jericho will listen to him now. Jericho needs a mic, huh?
Parker gets him one, and Jericho asks what Kingston’s gonna do? Hit him here and then get fired so that he’s out of another company? NO company wants Kingston, AEW is his last chance, so he needs to stand there, shut up and do what he’s told! Kingston laughs, Jericho takes a seat. Kingston says he won’t hit Jericho. Just look him in the eyes. Kingston can smell the fear coming off Jericho. When Jericho says “hit” in Kingston’s world, be prepared to put someone in the ground! And guess what? They’ve done it before, they’ll do it to Jericho! Is Jericho ready to do the same thing? NOPE.
Jericho is leaning so far back in his seat, eyes open with fear. Will the Mad King crush The Influencer once and for all?
Sammy Guevara speaks.
“Scorpio Sky, tonight I get to kick your ass for a third time, in my match, the ladder match. Congratulations, kid, you’ve been the most uninteresting guy on the AEW roster since you got here. Tag Team Champion? Don’t remember. TNT Champion? Already forgotten about it. Honestly, I don’t know what’s brighter: this beautiful woman, the TNT title, or our future.” Sammy and Tay kiss for luck, but will luck run out in tonight’s main event?
Philly Street Fight: Hikaru Shida VS Serena Deeb!
This started seven MONTHS ago, when the Full Metal Warrior got her 50th AEW win off the Professor of Pro-Wrestling. The grudge ran deep right then and there, and after going 2-2, this could very well be the finale of their feud! Will Shida strike down Serena and have a clean slate going into the Owen Hart Women’s Tournament? Or will the Wolf of Wrestling leave Shida with a mark she’ll never forget?
The moment Shida hits the ring, she’s swinging that kendo stick at Deeb! Deeb dodges, the bell rings, and Deeb kicks low. Deeb EuroUppers over and over then whips, but Shida reverses to follow and LARIAT! Then some ground ‘n’ pound! Philly fire sup but Deeb turns it around to fire off her own fists! Shida kicks from below, the two separate, and Shida is in a corner. Deeb runs in but into a BOOT! Shida hops up, leaps and missile dropkicks Deeb outta the ring! Shida hurries to follow her out there, and she gets a chair! Shida sets it up like she usually does, runs, but Deeb gets in the ring. Shida pursues, but then Deeb goes to the apron.
Shida gets Deeb’s hair and she bumps her off buckles again and again! Shida climbs up to then drag Deeb onto the top rope! Shida CLUBS her over and over on the buckle, and fans fire up as she goes corner to corner. TOP SHELF KNEE! Deeb flops down to the floor, and Shida goes to the apron. Shida fires up and so do the fans, and she leaps, into the CHAIR! Deeb used the chair against Shida and that bad leg! Deeb puts Shida in, gets that chair again, and sets it up in the center. Deeb rings Shida over, reels her in and has the bad leg, FULL METAL SHINBREAKER! Even fans wince as Dynamite goes picture in picture.
Deeb folds up the chair and holds it up high. Fans rally while Deeb puts the chair down and she stalks Shida. Shida hits back with shots from below, but Deeb brings her up to kick low! Deeb kicks away again and again, then hits a TWIST ‘N’ SHOUT! Cover, TWO! Deeb is frustrated but she drags Shida by the bad leg to drop an elbow on it! And then she drags Shida around for more elbows to the knee! Deeb grinds forearms into the knee but Shida clubs Deeb on the back. Deeb pulls on a toehold and Shida endures, so Deeb turns to GROUND DRAGON SCREW! Shida clutches her knee, Deeb scowls and looms over her.
Deeb stalks Shida to ropes, stomps her, then kicks the bad leg. Deeb steps through to tie up the legs, ROPE ASSISTED INDIAN DEATHLOCK! Shida can only endure with no ropebreaks or disqualifications, but she grabs Deeb by the hair and throws haymakers over and over! Deeb just puts more pressure on the hold! Shida pries at the hold, clutches the rope, but Deeb drags herself up to join Shida on the apron. Shida CLUBS at Deeb’s leg but Deeb stomps her! The deathlock is undone but Deeb spins Shida around. Deeb has the legs, but Shida BOOTS her into railing! Shida drags herself up, only for Deeb to CHOP BLOCK the leg!
Deeb slips the bad leg in between apron and skirt, and she hammers away on the knee! Then Deeb brings out another chair, to SMACK the leg against apron!! Deeb gets back in and takes a seat, and she relaxes while Dynamite returns to single picture. Fans boo but Deeb just grins as she soaks up the heat. Shida crawls back towards center, but Deeb looms over her. Deeb brings Shida up, has the leg again, but Shida turns lift into a sunset flip! And then Shida rolls back to RAM Deeb into the chair! Deeb writhes and flounders out of the ring while fans fire up! Deeb goes under the ring, and she brings out a Ziploc baggy?
Shida hurries over, Deeb uses POWDER on Shida! Fans boo but Deeb grabs a kendo stick to SMACK Shida with it! And again! And again! And again! Deeb throws the stick away, then drags Shida up by her hair to reel her in. Deeb tucks the arms, but Shida fights the driver to back drop Deeb away! Shida blindly paws around, and she finds the kendo stick! She takes blind swings, the ref has to move out of the way, but Shida SMACKS Deeb outta the ring! Shida finds her way out, gets a water bottle from staff, and she washes out the powder. Shida can see again, and she locks onto Deeb at the ramp. Shida leaps off steps to missile dropkick!
Shida gets Deeb back in, gets her kendo stick, and she SMACKS Deeb again! And again! And again! And again! Fans fire up with Shida, but they also want tables. Shida stops Deeb from getting a chair, and gives her KNEE after KNEE after KNEE! Shida takes aim, but Katana Knee hits chair! Deeb gets Shida with that again, and then she wraps the chair around the bad knee! Deeb hurries to a corner and climbs up while fans boo. But Shida gets the chair off her leg, and gets up to SMACK Deeb with it! Shida climbs up to join Deeb, brings Deeb up and SUPER FALCON ARROWS!! Cover, TWO!! Fans fire up and Shida is furious as Deeb survives!
Shida drags Deeb back up but Deeb is dead weight. Shida leaves her behind to get a kendo stick. Fans chant “HOLY SHIDA!” and Shida SMACKS Deeb down! Then she CHOKES Deeb with the kendo stick! Deeb scrambles, pushes off ropes, rolls Shida up, TWO! SMACK again! Shida gets a chair, and sets her kendo stick on it. She brings Deeb around, Canadian rack, but Deeb rakes eyes! Deeb brings Shida in, tucks the arms, FULL METAL DEEBTOX!! Cover, TWO!?!? Shida survives and no one can believe it! Deeb is furious, but she hooks the arm and turns Shida over! Shida scrambles around and gets the ropes, but that won’t stop this!
Deeb drags Shida away from ropes, to SMASH the knee on the chair! And she does it again and again and again!! Deeb gets the legs in a TEXAS CLOVERLEAF!! Deeb sits deep and Shida taps! Deeb wins!
Winner: Serena Deeb, by submission
The Wolf of Wrestling may not be in the Owen Hart tournament, but she solidifies her spot as #1 contender! And Thunder Rosa was watching this match, too. Will La Mera Mera go Double or Nothing with her old NWA rival?
Backstage interview with MJF and Shawn Spears.
Lexi Nair says they seem shockingly calm after witnessing Wardlow defeat Archer. Well, Lindsey, that’s because MJF has a plan. It’s Lexi. Oh, right, sorry! GET OUT OF HIS FRAME! Spears takes the mic and then hands MJF his phone. The reason MJF is so calm is because he has a damn good back-up. He calls someone, and has a quick question for this guy. How’d he feel about making six figures in one match? The answer is yes. So Wardlow is going to be facing a man who is smarter than him, stronger than him, and taller than him. And you can’t. Teach. That. Does that mean MJF just called in the realest mercenary yet?
The lights go out in the arena!
The House of Black is meant to appear, but when the lights come up, FUEGO DEL SOL is down on the ramp! Malakai Black walks out and kneels by him. “I told you we’d extend the challenge.” Brody King and Buddy Matthews sit Fuego up, and Malakai grabs at Fuego’s mask! They’re gonna demask Fuego!? But then Alex Abrahantes calls to the House of Black from the ring! “Don’t you know it’s sacrilegious to remove a mask from a luchador? We told you that if you continue to mess with Fuego, you’re going to get burnt.” The House of Black throws Fuego aside and they storm down the ramp!
Alex says for men that love deception as much as the House does, Alex can’t figure out how they haven’t figured out why Alex even dresses like this. It’s because they’ve been waiting for the right moment to blindside the House back. The music plays for Penta Oscuro, and he walks out onto the stage! Then, here comes PAC! The Bastard is back, too, but then so does Alex?! Alex is dressed in his signature yin-yang pants and jacket, and says, “House of Black, I guess we all now know why you like to hide in the shadows. Because clearly, you aren’t very bright.” If Alex is on the stage, then who is in the cloak? It’s REY FENIX!!
Fans are fired up as Fenix has the shovel! The House turns around to see what’s going on! And they narrowly avoid the shovel swing! Buddy tries to take the shovel from Fenix, but Fenix waistlocks. Buddy throws elbows and throws Fenix down, but the brawl is going on outside the ring, too! Pac digs Malakai into railing while Penta is after Brody. Buddy turns around and Fenix kips right up to SUPERKICK him! Fenix then runs in to jump SOBAT in the corner! Buddy flounders and fans fire up as Fenix goes right up to DIVING DOUBLE STOMP! Buddy bails out to regroup with the House, and Death Triangle reunites in the ring! “CERO! MIEDO!”
Pac gets moving, all three members build speed, and they TRIPLE TOPE onto the House of Black! Fans fire up as Death Triangle stands tall! Will they finally burn down the House now that they’re at 100%?
AEW announces another Owen Hart Men’s Tournament qualifier.
It will be this Friday on Rampage, Swerve Strickland takes on Darby Allin! Tony Schiavone interviews both men backstage, these two have been friends a long time but only one can move on. Swerve says “friend” is a little strong here. They’re more like rivals who beat the hell out of each other. And Darby’s all grown up. Swerve is so proud of him. But Swerve is gonna turn Rampage into whose house? Swerve’s House. Darby says Swerve can’t just keep coming into companies claiming its his house. Hate to break it to you, but AEW is Darby’s House. He’s been here since day one, and on Friday Night Rampage, Darby shows everyone why this tournament is Darby’s, too.
10 Man Tag: The Undisputed Elite VS Dante Martin, The Varsity Blonds, Lee Johnson & Brock Anderson w/ Arn Anderson!
An open challenge was issued last week, and was also answered last week! In the wake of the Owen Hart tournament qualifiers and the news of AEW X NJPW: Forbidden Door, Adam Cole and friends want to prove who is in charge around here! Will he, reDRagon and the Young Bucks be standing on top again? Or will Angel Dorado, Griff Garrison, Brian Pillman Jr., Big Shotty and the Son of the Enforcer prove this is NOT their era?
The teams sort out and Dante starts for his side, only for everyone but Cole to attack! The Bucks and Fish knock the Blonds and #BrockLee off the apron while Kyle stomps Dante. The ref reprimands and the Undisputed Elite backs off for Matt to start with Dante. Matt throws hands, then tags Kyle. They double whip but Dante ducks the double clotheslines to then shove Matt at Kyle. They stop themselves, Matt dodges Dante but Kyle takes the clothesline! Matt rushes Dante but Dante hurdles over, and then dropkicks Matt, with Kyle accidentally table-topping him! Dante then wrenches Kyle and tags in BPJ!
The young’uns mug Kyle, BPJ clinches and CHOPS, then tag to Griff. The Blonds double whip, then Griff picks Kyle up, DROPKICK SPINEBUSTER COMBO! The Bucks get in and go after the Bucks. Matt gives Nick the boost to dropkick them both! Griff tags Lee, he goes up and DOUBLE CROSSBODIES! Direct hit, and Lee gets up to dodge double clotheslines. Brock gets in and DOUBLE LARIATS the Bucks! Fish gets in to EXPLODER Brock! Dante springboard missile dropkicks Fish! Fans fire up and Dante coordinates with Lee. They both build speed, Lee FLIES onto the Bucks while Dante jumps and SPRINGBOARDS onto reDRagon!
Philly fires up as Cole is the only one standing for the Undisputed Elite, Dante and his team regroup to stand tall in the ring! Fans fire up and the Undisputed Elite is arguing while Dynamite goes picture in picture.
Cole works to settle things down, Cutler literally tries to cool them all off with his spray cans, and the arguing stops. There’s even some breathing exercises at work here as Brock waits on someone. Kyle gets in and he circles with him, only to tag Fish in. They circle, Cole sips in but just to distract. Fish gets Brock for a SPINEBUSTER! A spinebuster on an Anderson?! Blasphemy! But Fish brings Brock up to throw knees, then snapmare Brock down. Fish goes up and out to slingshot senton! Cover, TWO! Fish brings Brock up as Arn coaches his son. Fish throws knees, tags Kyle in, and reDRagon mugs Brock against ropes. The ref counts, reDRagon double suplex!
Kyle has a cover, TWO, so he rains down forearms on Brock! Kyle then shifts around, throws knee after knee and elbow after elbow. Kyle KICKS Brock, clamps onto his arm and wrenches, then double wristlocks to bring him back. Fish tags back in, reDRagon mugs Brock more. Fish brings Brock around to ROCK him and DECK him, then bring him up for KICKS! Brock reaches out but Fish keeps him form his corner. Fish throws more knees, then more KICKS! But Brock ducks, fakes a haymaker and hits a DDT! Both men are down and everyone fires up! Brock and Fish crawl, hot tags to Lee and Kyle!
Dynamite returns to single picture as Big Shotty starts to rally! Lee whips, the Bucks get in to help Kyle, and the Bucks DOUBLE SUPERKICK Lee down! Kyle thanks them for that, but here comes BPJ! The Bucks dodge him, Fish kicks BPJ low, then Kyle reels BPJ in, TOTAL ANNIHILATION! The Bucks CLOBBER Griff, then BOOT Dante! Cole is all fired up for his guys, and they quickly coordinate. Nick goes out to the apron to PENALTY KICK Griff! Nick shoulders into Lee and slingshots, “SUCK IT!” FACEBUSTER! Then handspring MOONSAULT onto the Blonds! Fans fire up as Nick finishes wrecking everyone!
Matt tags in and he WRECKS Brock and Dante with a dropkick! He then holds the ropes down so Nick can FLY out onto the rest! Nick takes a victory lap, then Nick tags back in. Nick then tags Kyle and Kyle tags Fish. The ref counts, Fish tags Cole, and everyone surrounds Lee. UNDISPUTED ELITE TRIGGER!! And then THE BOOM!! Cover, The Undisputed Elite wins!
Winners: The Undisputed Elite, by pinfall
Cole puts the finishing touches on this, then he hands the Bucks their Undisputed Elite shirts. Everyone wears the merchandise, will they completely dominate AEW from here on out?
Something’s going down backstage!
Matt Menard says he has a scoop! Look what happened! Santana, Ortiz and Kingston have been attacked by the JAS! And then Jericho uses a FIREBALL on Kingston’s face!! Did they just complete the hit Kingston dared them to pull?!
BREAKING for Rampage!
First, it will be the trios debut of Jade Cargill, Red Velvet and Kiera Hogan against Skye Blue, Willow Nightingale and Trish Adora! Will the baddies look real good as a unit? Then, Keith Lee takes on Colten Gunn 1v1, and we have a face-to-face confrontation of Hook and Danhausen! But biggest of all, Samoa Joe defends his ROH World Television Championship against Trent Beretta!
AEW takes a closer look at Joe VS Trent!
Trent spent years in ROH, but won no titles, nothing to show for his time there. But now, this Friday on Rampage, he’ll change that. Samoa Joe says a man’s riches can be measured in his friends. Trent is pretty rich in friendship. Trent says Joe hits hard, but Trent is the guy who gets hit hard. Joe says Trent has to come to the stark realization that Joe did not come here to break Trent. He just wants Trent to realize that he is facing Joe, the ROH World TV Champion. Will Trent have no choice but to accept that his title-less streak continues?
And furthermore…
There will finally be an UNDISPUTED ROH Women’s World Champion as Deonna Purrazzo and Mercedes Martinez battle it out on next week’s Dynamite! Will the Virtuoso or the OG Badass be the one standing alone at the top of the mountain? Plus, one more Owen Hart Men’s Qualifier: Jeff Hardy VS Bobby Fish! Will the Charismatic Enigma represent the Hardys in honoring Hart? Or will the Undisputed Elite have even better odds of taking the whole thing?
AEW TNT Championship Ladder Match: Sammy Guevara w/ Tay Conti VS Scorpio Sky w/ Dan Lambert!
The Spanish God may have cheated the Closer, but only because he felt the Closer was gonna cheat him first. But that just means they’re 1-1 and this is the tiebreaker! Who rises above the other to once and for all stand tall as THE Face of TNT?
The introductions are made, the belt is already high overhead, and these two brawl at the ramp!
The bell rings to put this on record, fans fire up for the scrap, and Scorpio whips Sammy into railing! And then into more railing! Scorpio drags Sammy up to throw knees against railing, then body shots! Sammy can only guard as he falls to the floor! Scorpio flexes, drags Sammy up and gives him SNAKE EYES on the railing! Sammy flounders and sputters but Scorpio brings him up to whip hard into more railing! Sammy writhes and Scorpio says, “I told you I’d beat his ass.” Scorpio hurries to get the ladder from the stage and bring it down the ramp. Scorpio gets to ringside, Sammy builds speed, but Scorpio avoids the baseball slide!
Sammy staggers to the ramp, Scorpio backs up to RAM Sammy with the ladder! Fans rally and Scorpio brings the ladder around. Scorpio gets the ladder in the ring, Lambert and the fans rally behind him, and Scorpio mocks Sammy saying he’s crazy. Scorpio brings Sammy up but Sammy blocks the suplex. Scorpio still gets Sammy up but Sammy slips out to waistlock, and GERMAN SUPLEX to the ramp! Scorpio writhes and Tay cheers Sammy, but she’s the only one. Sammy does “snow angels” on the floor and then he gets up. Sammy RAMS Scorpio into railing! Sammy goes into the ring and he picks the ladder up.
Sammy stands the ladder up, positions it under the title, and he climbs. Sammy touches the belt but Scorpio drags him back down! They brawl, Sammy trips Scorpio and CATAPULTS him! But Scorpio uses that to get up! Sammy hurries and CLUBS Scorpio down. Sammy SLAMS Scorpio to the mat, then brings him up to RAM him into the rungs! Sammy positions the ladder again, but Scorpio hurries to grab a foot. Sammy scuffs Scorpio, reaches out, but the title is too far. So Sammy says he’ll do something crazy, and does a 630 SENTON to Scorpio!! Both men crash down hard and Philly is stunned as Dynamite goes picture in picture.
Both men are down, Tay is worried for Sammy and Lambert coaches Scorpio. Scorpio stirs, as does Sammy. The refs check on both guys, Scorpio drags himself up the ropes, but Sammy might be another story. He almost didn’t hit Scorpio, and mostly hit mat. Scorpio looms over him and mocks him for being crazy. Scorpio then says, “Up yours,” before he repositions the ladder. Scorpio climbs but Sammy manages to sit up. Sammy tips the ladder and Scorpio hotshots off ropes! Sammy is still down, but now Scorpio has to start over. Tay is still worried for Sammy as he and Scorpio slowly rise.
Scorpio uses ropes again, but Tay CLAWS him on the back! Scorpio writhes and refs can only reprimand Tay for what she did. Tay doesn’t care, she shouts at the fans and Lambert. Scorpio gets back up, Sammy is outside the ring. Scorpio stands the one ladder up but Sammy brings in another! Sammy CLUBS Scorpio, Scorpio knees Sammy low. Scorpio gets the second ladder and puts it in a corner. Scorpio then hauls Sammy up to stick him inside the ladder, and have him drape off the hinges. Scorpio KICKS Sammy in the gut! Sammy flops out of the ring and Lambert applauds Scorpio for the creativity.
Dynamite returns to single picture as Scorpio goes back to the taller ladder. Scorpio drags himself up the rungs but Sammy manages to stand. Sammy climbs up the corner, then up the second ladder. Sammy makes sure it’s stable, and he LEAP FROGS but into Scorpio’s CUTTER!! Fans are thunderous and losing their minds over that one! Scorpio goes back out and starts looking under the ring. Scorpio brings out a ladder with barbed wire in it!! Just when you think you’ve seen it all! Fans chant for “E C DUB! E C DUB!” as that extreme spirit is brought to AEW! Scorpio gets his barbed wire ladder in the ring, then brings Sammy up.
Scorpio whips, fireman’s carries, but Sammy fights off and shoves! SPANISH FLY onto the barbed wire ladder!! Both men writhe while fans lose their minds again! Lambert gets the barbed wire ladder out, then he checks on Scorpio. Sammy grabs Lambert! Lambert says this isn’t about him but about the title hanging overhead! Sammy says that’s true, and he won’t hurt Lambert. Tay gets in, and she LOW BLOWS Lambert with one swift kick! But wait! Here comes PAIGE VANZANT! She and Tay brawl! Sammy hurries to brawl with Scorpio! Fans are loving this as Scorpio and VanZant have the advantage!
Scorpio and VanZant high-five, but then Sammy and Tay BOOT them both down! Sammy and Tay kiss, and then they hurry to get that barbed wire ladder again. They put it back in the ring, careful to watch their fingers. Sammy brings the barbed ladder and props it against ropes. But Scorpio gets him for a COMPLETE SHOT! Scorpio looks up at the prize, and he hurries to reposition the main ladder. Scorpio climbs, but Tay gets in again! She jumps on Scorpio for a SLEEPER! But VanZant does the same to Sammy! Both men climb while the ladies hang on! They all reach the top, and the ladies start throwing hands again!
Sammy and Scorpio fade with those sleepers still on tight, and Tay falls off Scorpio! VanZant goes after Tay, they brawl on the side while Scorpio and Sammy hang on to rungs. DOUBLE ROUNDHOUSES take both women down! Sammy and Scorpio reach the top again, and while Scorpio reaches for the belt, Sammy throws haymakers! Scorpio starts to drop, and Sammy flips him off. So Scorpio BITES that finger! Fans fire up, Scorpio shoves Sammy down! Sammy hurries back up, throws more haymakers, then knocks Scorpio right off! Sammy gloats while reaching out, but then Scorpio tips the ladder! Sammy falls onto the barbed wire!!
Sammy scrapes off the wires and falls to the mat! Scorpio hurries to get back up the ladder, and he reaches the top! Philly is thunderous as Scorpio grabs the belt! Sammy springboards up after him!? They brawl, haymaker for haymaker, and Sammy falls again! Scorpio finally gets both hands on the belt, and brings it down to win!!
Winner: Scorpio Sky (NEW AEW TNT Champion)
Ethan Page appears, he celebrates with his tag team partner as Scorpio is now a TWO-TIME TNT Champion! Frankie Kazarian appears, because just as promised, the former tag team champions will face off for the title! They shake hands and the celebration truly begins! Will Scorpio look to rebuild his streak with this title as its foundation?
My Thoughts:
Another great episode of Dynamite for AEW, but I’ll point out the one low point first. Did we really need Schiavone talking with Britt, Hayter and Storm again? We just saw this on Rampage, didn’t we? Yes, they added Soho here this time, but they could’ve given us a different scenario for this. We could’ve gotten a vignette that hypes up all the Owen Hart Women’s Tournament participants, where Soho and Britt say the same things about each other here through that. That said, I think they’re just hinted at a semifinal match with Soho VS Britt, and that will be a very good match.
Keeping with the AEW Women’s Division, I like that we’re going to see Jade and her new friends, Velvet and Kiera, be a trio. We’ll get to see more out of Heel Kiera and Heel Velvet, and maybe we’ll see a new challenger for Jade’s TBS Championship to step up after the Six Woman Tag match is said and done. The ROH Women’s World Championship story being settled on Dynamite is also great stuff, as we’re still waiting on an ROH TV deal. Same goes for the ROH World TV title for Rampage, good hype vignette there. Shida VS Deeb was a great Street Fight, and quite the surprise that Deeb wins. At the same time, Deeb VS Rosa for the title is going to be awesome, good move keeping Deeb strong to head for Double or Nothing in a month.
Awesome opener from Cash VS Dax. I called it in Dax moving on, but don’t think this breaks FTR up in the slightest. Cash will cheer Dax on, Dax will probably be out in the second round, and then FTR moves on to defend their multiple tag titles. Speaking of, Team Taz challenging for the AEW tag titles is an interesting move, but maybe Team Taz VS Keith & Swerve is on pause for right now. Jurassic Express will get going again after winning here, and then maybe we get Jurassic Express VS FTR for ALL the belts at Double or Nothing. And Swerve VS Darby is going to be a great match on Rampage. I think Darby advances, so Swerve and Keith can circle back to Team Taz.
CM Punk had a great promo to respond to the official announcement, Punk VS Page is going to be awesome for Double or Nothing. Great Six Man Tag outta BCC and Factory, and there was no question BCC was winning. Maybe they’ll be in the running for an AEW Trios Championship thing, but I would like to think these trio wins are helping Moxley and Bryan move up in the Tag Division, and Yuta can find a challenger for his ROH Pure Championship. Great stuff out of Death Triangle finally being whole again. I thought that was going to be Penta in the robe but Fenix being in it was awesome, and now we can finally have House of Black VS Death Triangle 3v3.
Wardlow VS Archer was great stuff, especially Wardlow’s massive rana. I almost didn’t think Wardlow was going to win straight up, but hot damn, him powerbombing Archer four times was wild. MJF calling in W. Morrissey, AKA Big Cass, is quite the surprise. Seems the Forbidden Door is still open to Impact, and I wonder if this is where Wardlow wins by a disqualification because Morrissey will go overboard. One way or another, MJF is delaying his match with Wardlow until Double or Nothing, which will be great stuff, too. I bet Shawn Spears will have to step up, too, and that’ll be fun because Wardlow’s been wanting to bomb him as much as he has MJF.
The sit-down meeting was a great segment because it wasn’t a sit-down meeting. They get meta, that “AEW Galaxy” joke was a long time coming and I loved that they did it, and Kingston had an awesome part of the promos with getting in Jericho’s face. But of course JAS get back at Kingston, Santana & Ortiz, and that was definitely “sports entertainment” with Jericho using a fireball a la Scarlett Bordeaux, The Fiend and Alexa Bliss. The 10 Man Tag was great, but I think the best part was that Cole didn’t do anything in the ring until it was time to finish it off. The Undisputed Elite logo looks really good, and I definitely feel like this is just recreating when Cole was trying to take over Bullet Club in ROH. Omega or White will see Cole’s ego getting too big, he’s out of the club all over again.
Very good promos from Lambert, Scorpio and Sammy to hype up the main event, and they didn’t even really need to pivot that much from how they were before the Sammy controversy let out and things turned on their own. I definitely feel like if this were even a few weeks ago, Tay kicking Lambert in the balls would’ve gone over huge. But one way or another, a great ladder match with Scorpio and Paige VanZant now the Faces. Sammy’s 630 whiff was legit, I almost thought he was out of this but he’s tough enough to take that since he was able to take that 630 table crash weeks ago. But great creativity with a barbed wire ladder, and great for Scorpio to win. Scorpio VS Kaz probably happens before Double or Nothing, because that mixed tag probably happens at the PPV.
My Score: 8.9/10

PLAY BY PLAY
The Conglomeration speaks.
Roderick Strong shouts, “ORANGE!” Cassidy says, “What?” Roddy says thanks for the new shirt with himself on it, it’s great. Kyle O’Reilly says he loves this teamwork, this camaraderie, and hey, they’re in Portland for Playoff Palooza! Conglomeration, Collision, this is a good night to defend the trios titles for the first time ever! But then FTR steps in, and #BigStoke says Cash & Dax have something that’s actually important to say to Cope & Cage. Second, everyone backstage knows The Conglomeration is about to lose to the Don Callis Family, FTR’s close personal friends. See you later, losers.
FTR make their entrance, and the Veterans Memorial Coliseum isn’t exactly happy about it. Stokely leads the way into the ring and they get the mics. Cash starts off by saying, “Big Cope, we saw the challenge you laid out, very interesting. Very interesting indeed. So I know you probably think you’re gonna pull one over on us, that you’re gonna trick us into accepting this, but all you really had to do was bring something, anything to the table to entice us. And I gotta say, you saying that if you lose again to FTR, that you will no longer team? That sounds pretty enticing to me. So I’m not gonna drag this out. Challenge accepted!”
The fans cheer that, and Dax says of course Cope would say he deserves the rematch. But why? Because of some success they had 25 YEARS ago? Dax will lay a little cold, hard truth on Cope & Christian. Nobody wants them here! The fans boo that, but Dax says FTR doesn’t want them here! The locker room doesn’t want them here! As dumb as these fans are, they’re smart enough to know that they don’t want C&C here! No one associated with AEW wants C&C here! And now, give Dax a moment. Cope didn’t have to play his little mind games like challenging their man hoods. All they had to do was put their careers on the line.
The fans boo more, but Dax says the New York Street Fight sounds great to them, but let’s do it one better! If they’re gonna have this match with all this riding on the line… Dax wants there to be no more questions! No more debate! New York Street Fight, I QUIT STYLE! Dax wants C&C’s wives, daughters, dogs, and God Almighty to hear the one thing that is embarrassing to every man: Five letters, two words, “I QUIT!” And then after that, C&C, you can go on about your way, this here is done. Continue on with your nostalgia run while FTR goes on as the greatest tag team to EVER do this! Now the ball is in your court, Cope. #TopGuysOut.
The fans boo, but FTR saw the tag careers and raised them their dignity! Will Cope & Cage call that bet as we all go Double or Nothing? But as FTR takes their exit, The Conglomeration makes their entrance! FTR gets in their face, so The Conglomeration SHOVES them down! Will Cassidy, Roddy & Kyle show FTR what a real team looks like? Or will the Don Callis Family add more gold to the treasury?
AEW World Trios Championships: Orange Cassidy, Roderick Strong & Kyle O’Reilly VS Andrade El Idolo, Lance Archer & Hechicero!
The introductions are made, the belts are raised, and we see which eclectic combination is a winning combination!
The trios sort out and Kyle starts against the Alchemist of Lucha. The bell rings as Kyle and Hechi circle, feel things out, and tie up. Kyle slips around to wrench and wristlock, but Hechi powers through to headlock. Kyle slips out, drops down, tangles up the leg but Hechi makes it a cover! ONE, and Kyle drags Hechi down. Hechi slips through, but so does Kyle. Kyle goes to a headlock but Hechi makes it a facelock. Kyle wrenches, headlocks again, but Hechi powers up and fires body shots. Hechi powers out, then catches Kyle for the ROPE SLEEPER! The fans are torn but Conglomeration protests. The ref counts, Hechi lets go at 4.
Hechi blocks a kick, ROCKS Kyle, then DRAGON SLEEPERS the leg! Kyle hobbles away but Hechi KICKS him! Hechi gets the leg again, but Kyle wrenches through to an ELBOW BREAKER! Kyle BOOTS Hechi to the corner, tag to Roddy, and they KICK and CHOP on repeat! Tag to Cassidy, he pushes Hechi for Roddy to scoop. BACKBREAKER and… Cassidy hops down to ELBOW DROP! The fans cheer as Cassidy flexes. But then Hechi tags Archer! Murderhawk Monster tells Freshly Squeezed he done messed up. Cassidy takes his sunglasses off, nods, and he tags Roddy! The fans cheer as Roddy CHOPS and fires off!
Archer shoves Roddy, Roddy ducks ‘n’ dodges, but Archer CLOBBERS Roddy! The fans rally as Roddy dodges Archer, tags to Andrade and Cassidy! The fans cheer as Cassidy and “The Real Latino Man” stare down. Cassidy puts his hands up, but Andrade keeps them from the pockets. Andrade says hold on as he takes off the belt. But then Andrade wags his finger, they’re not getting the full Andrade. But Cassidy fires off “devastating” kicks! The fans fire up as Cassidy then YANKS the belt away! Andrade runs up, but Cassidy dodges to PANTS Andrade1 the fans fire up as Cassidy runs and SHOTGUNS Andrade down!
Cassidy kips up, the fans fire up, and Cassidy puts Andrade in a corner. Tag to Kyle, he climbs up, and Kyle rains down fists! The fans count along, and Kyle goes all the way to TEN! Kyle then tags Roddy, Roddy climbs up, and he rains down fists, and goes to TEN very quickly! Tag to Cassidy, he climbs up, and he rains down ONE! The fans cheer again and Cassidy winds it up. Andrade is outside, but he dodges Kyle! Archer CLOBBERS Kyle! Roddy runs, but Hechi trips him up! Cassidy BLATSS Andrade but Roddy is sent into the desk! Andrade returns to CLOBBER Cassidy, and then he flexes.
Andrade YANKS Cassidy’s shirt away as payback for the pants, but Collision goes picture in picture.
Andrade puts the Cassidy shirt on, then TOSSES Cassidy out! Andrade goes out after Cassidy, SMACKS him off barriers, then finds another lovely lady in the audience. She takes the Cassidy shirt off Andrade before she takes her selfie with him. Andrade makes sure to also get the selfie of Archer beating up Cassidy. Andrade puts Cassidy back in, Hechi POSTS Roddy, and Andrade covers Cassidy, TWO! Cassidy survives but Andrade stomps him down! Andrade drags Cassidy up by the ear, bumps him off buckles, then he tags Hechi. Hechi hammerlocks and swings Cassidy for the MAD SCIENTIST BOMB! Cover, TWO!
Hechi argues the count but the ref says it was fair. Hechi clamps onto Cassidy with another hammerlock and he brings Cassidy over. Tag to Andrade and they mug Cassidy. Hechi kicks Cassidy down, Archer stomps Cassidy, too, all while Andrade taunts Roddy. The ref has to keep Roddy back, but that lets Archer CHOKE Cassidy! Hechi gets another shot in while Playoff Palooza returns to single picture. Andrade whisp Cassidy into the corner, tags Hechi, and Hechi fires fast hands. Hechi ROCKS Cassidy, Andrade runs up, but Cassidy BOOTS him! And BOOTS Hechi! Cassidy goes up, fires elbows on Archer, then hits a DOUBLE RANA on Andrade y Hechi!
The fans rally but Archer is right in! Archer drags Cassidy back, wags his fingers at The Conglomeration, but Cassidy DUMPS Archer out! Hot tag to Kyle! Kyle BOOTS Hechi, goes up, and FLYING KNEES! Then a BOOT for Andrade, followed by a ROUNDHOUSE, KICK, and a strike fest! Leg sweep and Kyle circles Andrade. Hechi DROPKICKS Kyle! Hechi whips, Roddy tags, and Kyle slips around. Hechi and Kyle switch back and forth, but Kyle ELBOWS Hechi down. Roddy jumps in, he and Kyle run, forearm for Andrade and knee for HEchi! Then they trade! AEW shares footage from after Dynamite.
The Death Riders are still carrying a semi-conscious Ospreay, as we saw them do after the medical/referee stoppage against Mark Davis. They place Ospreay in a chair, and Moxley takes a seat across from him. Yuta splashes water on Ospreay to wake him up, and Marina puts a towel around him. She wraps it around, gives it some strong tugs, and then a neck massage? Moxley says she’s good, huh? Then he asks Ospreay, “What is it you’re trying to accomplish?” Breaking Moxley’s neck? Breaking his own neck? When Ospreay goes to the ring, when he gets up in the morning, where is Ospreay trying to go? Who is Ospreay trying to be? What is it Ospreay is chasing?
Moxley doesn’t think Ospreay even knows the answers to those questions anymore. It was almost seven years ago that Moxley saw Ospreay for the first time. The power Ospreay wields and the ability Ospreay has… Mind, flesh, blood, muscle, bone. It will all break eventually. You try to run through a brick wall as much as you want, the wall doesn’t go anywhere. But if you step back and realize there is a door, you can walk right through it and become whoever you want on the other side. This, the mind, can be trained, honed properly, so that it will not break. You take dominion over your mind, and you can become a weapon like pro-wrestling has never seen.
But this thing between them has to come to a head one way or another. So they can settle up. Moxley puts a steel chair between them. Ospreay can be just like everyone else. Or, he can become everything he was meant to be. Moxley kisses the ground as he lies down, and he says it is Ospreay’s choice. Ospreay picks up the chair, looks it over, and looks as the Death Riders step back. Ospreay has the cameraman leave, but why? Does Ospreay go through with the easy route of taking Moxley out? Or does he accept The Maniac’s offer and see how far down the rabbit hole he can go?

Backstage interview with The Divine Dominion.
Speaking of the Women’s Tag Team Champions, Lexy is now with Megan Bayne & Lena Kross and brings up the challenge thrown out by Shidalander. What is their response? Lena asks, “Why? Why should we be worried about Shida & Statlander? What about us doesn’t look like we have been ready and waiting?” Megan asks, “And why would we be worried about another thrown-together tag team who thinks they stand a chance?” What these two have is more than these titles. They have an understanding that there are no two women in this godforsaken realm that look like they do, that move like they do, and that destroy like they do.
This isn’t a challenge, this is their challenger’s fate. Do they accept it? The Divine Dominion has spoken, will The Megasus & Aussie Amazon continue to crush all who oppose them?

Samoa Joe is happy to see “Speak ‘n’ Spell” Shibata again, and he asks what Hook’s been up to. Hook says he’s been holding it down, recruiting for them, that kinda stuff. Aight, cool. Speaking of which, Anthony Bowens steps in and says they’re just the people he was looking for. Bowens welcomes Joe back, and reminds Hook that he said he’d have an answer by “next week.” Turns out, that’s tonight. Bowens is getting tired of waiting, he needs an answer. Is he in The Opps or not? Hook says Bowens needs to take a step back. There is one problem: No more vacancies! Joe asks Bowens, “Do you hear him? Was he clear enough for you? There’s no more vacancies in The Opps.
“Because it sounds like we found our newest one.” Bowens smiles as he and Joe shake hands on it. Hook seems a bit surprised, but he says Bowens passed the test. Welcome to the crew. Bowens smiles, will The 5 Tool Player be just the thing The Opps need to rise back up in AEW?
Six Man Tag: Chris Jericho & The Hurt Syndicate w/ MVP VS The Demand!
The Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla returned “home” to AEW, only for Ricochet, Toa Liona & Bishop Kaun to rain on his parade. And after ruining his return to PPV, bald, Ricochet had the audacity to say losing to him was Jericho’s new gimmick. But Ricochet made quite the miscalculation saying no one wanted to team with Jericho to face them. The Demo God called upon the All Mighty & The Standard of Excellence not because they like each other, but because they all despise The Demand! So now, will Jericho & The Hurt Syndicate put the hurt on Bald, Dumb & Ugly? Or will The Demand find a way to add Lashley & Shelton to their list?
The trios sort out and MVP joins commentary while Jericho keeps the fans fired up. Jericho steps up to start against Ricochet, they circle, but then Ricochet tags Kaun. Kaun tags Liona, and they threaten Jericho 3v1. But duh, Lashley & Shelton step in! The fans cheer as these six stare down, and Jericho gets the fans even hotter! Then the brawl is on! The fans cheer as Jericho goes after Ricochet, Lashley throat chops Liona, and Shelton fires off on Kaun! Jericho CHOPS Ricochet, Ricochet fires hands, and Kaun fires shots on Shelton! Shelton just frowns, then ROCKS Kaun! Jericho CLUBS Ricochet but Ricochet CHOPS back!
Ricochet runs up but Jericho TOSSES him out! Shelton ROCKS Kaun, Kaun kicks low, Jericho WRECKS Ricochet with a dropkick! The fans cheer as Shelton STEP-UP KNEES Liona! Lashley RAMS Kaun! Then NECKBREAKER! Lashley LARIATS Kaun up and out, and the fans fire up as Shelton dodges Liona! Shelton comes back to SATELLITE DDT! Liona tumbles out and the fans cheer again. Jericho joins Lashley & Shelton in the ring, then Jericho climbs up! Jericho aims, shrugs, and SUPER CROSSBODIES! Down goes The Demand and the fans fire up again! Jericho is loving it, and so is The Hurt Syndicate, as Collision goes picture in picture.
Jericho stands with Shelton & Lashley, hands raised as if they’ve won already. Ricochet sputters while Jericho keeps the fans chanting. Jericho goes out to line up another shot, and he AX- NO, Liona catches him and POSTS him! Jericho hobbles, Liona runs up on him, and LARIATS him down! Liona storms around, drags Jericho up, and Liona whips Jericho hard into railing! Kaun and Liona high-five and throw up the three for Demand. The ref reprimands but The Demand regroups. Liona tags Ricochet, Ricochet SMACKS Jericho off the apron, then shoves him in the ring. Ricochet AX HANDLES Jericho down, then clamps on a Ground Cobra Twist!
Jericho endures, Ricochet CLUBS him down, then Ricochet THROWS Jericho by his hair! The ref reprimands but Ricochet tags Kaun. The Demand mugs Jericho, Kaun CHOSP him, then Kaun RAMS Jericho int he corner again and again! The ref counts, Kaun tags Ricochet back in, and they continue to mug Jericho. Ricochet clamps on the Ground Cobra Twist again but Jericho endures. Playoff Palooza returns to single picture as the fans rally. Jericho fights up, fires body shots, then CHOPS! And CHOPS! And CHOPS again! Jericho reaches for his corner but Ricochet CLUBS him in the back! Ricochet runs, but Jericho BACKDROPS him!
The fans fire up while both men are down! Ricochet hot tags Kaun, and Kaun blocks Jericho’s path! Jericho reaches out but Hurt Syndicate are just too far away! Jericho endures the bearhug to BELL CLAP! Kaun swings, Jericho dodges, hot tag to Lashley! The fans fire up as Lashley CLOBBERS Kaun, BLASTS Liona, and TOSSES Ricochet! Lashley RUNS Kaun over again, RAMS Ricochet, then RAMS Kaun! And then back to Ricochet! Then MILE HIGH FLATLINER! Then a kick and gut wrench for Kaun! DOMINATOR! Cover, Liona breaks it! The fans boo but Liona drags Lashley up. Liona CLUBS Lashley, whips him, but Lashey reverses!
Lashley LARIATS Liona up and out, then tags Shelton! Shelton waits on Kaun, then slips around to GERMAN SUPLEX! The fans fire up as Shelton GERMAN SUPLEXES again! Then STEP-UP KNEE for Liona! Kaun runs up, Shelton slips around again, GERMAN SUPLEX! Ricochet leaps in, but Shelton gets him for a GERMAN SUPLEX! The fans fire up as Rip City is now Suplex City! Shelton tags Jericho, Jericho winds up, and he trips Ricochet! Ricochet fights the turnover, Liona runs up, but Jericho dodge! Jericho kicks a shin, then trips Liona! But Ricochet POSTS Jericho first! The fans boo but Lashley TOSSES Ricochet!
Lashley RAMS Ricochet, then runs again, but Liona trips him up! Liona drags Lashley out, fireman’s carries, SAMOAN DROP! Ricochet goes up, Jericho SHORYUKENS! And CHOPS! Jericho goes up, up, and rains down fists! The fans count along as Jericho gives Ricochet nine, then TEN before the SUPER STEINER! Ricochet flounders, the fans fire up, but Kaun is up! HAYMAKER! The fans boo but Kaun goes to a corner. Kaun climbs, but Shelton spings up to get him! SUPER ARM-DRAG! The fans fire up as Lashley and Liona meet! Lashley trips but he still SPEARS Liona! CODE BREAKER on Ricochet! Jericho covers, TWO!
Ricochet survives but the fans chant for Jericho! Jericho waits on Ricochet, but Ricochet slips through to backslide! TWO, and Ricochet JUMP KNEES! Shelton is in, he FLAPJACKS Ricochet! Kaun SHOTGUNS Shelton! Lashley SPEARS Kaun! Liona POUNCES Lashley! Liona grins and he runs up on Jericho, but Jericho dodge! Liona tumbles up and out! Jericho dodges Ricochet to waistlock, Ricochet switches, but Jericho victory rolls, to then have the legs! Ricochet fights the turn, but still ends up in the WALLS OF JERICHO!! The fans are thunderous, but Kaun storms in! The ref stops Kaun, and that lets Liona drag Ricochet to safety!
Lashley CLOBBERS Liona and THROWS him into railing! Shelton does the same to Kaun! But Ricochet LOW BLOWS Jericho!! The fans boo but Ricochet pushes Jericho down, and hits the “RICOSAULT!” Cover, Demand wins!!
Winners: The Demand, by pinfall
MVP is as upset as anyone, The Demand used misdirection to steal another victory! But is Ricochet right? Is Jericho just the guy who gets beat up by The Demand every week he shows up? Or can Jericho turn things around before it gets any worse?
My Thoughts:
A very good episode for Collision, and I almost thought Playoff Palooza was gonna be delayed because of, well, playoffs. But anyway, great opening promo, much better than their usual “cold opens.” It certainly teased something for FTR VS Conglomeration, but there’s still FTR VS C&C to settle. And it fits the nature of “Double or Nothing” to raise the stakes on the title match. The Street Fight nature was already No Disqualification, and an I Quit match was already No Disqualification, so putting them together is both logical and not. But I suppose having New York themed items handy to beat each other with until someone verbally gives up is still a great combination. I would think C&C wins, though, so that they don’t have to break up.
As for Conglomeration VS Don Callis Family on the Don Callis Family’s fourth trios title match, great stuff, though maybe a little clunky at parts. Great win for Conglomeration, but who knows who they get for Double or Nothing. Great promo from Moxley and Ospreay, and Ospreay not crushing Moxley was clearly the right move for building some intrigue. Ospreay might not join Moxley & The Death Riders, but being trained by them would make for some good story. Feels like AEW is taking inspiration from DC Comics given their partnership, this is very much Slade Wilson training Dick Grayson to go from Robin into Nightwing.
Great little promo of Harley & Mina confronting Shida with Kris in the room. Shida is doing great playing this passive aggressive Face, especially with how enthusiastic she is for Kris. Great showing for B3CCA against Kris, but Kris was of course still winning. We’re definitely getting a tag match of #Shidalander VS Mina & Harley, and that can be when Shida turns on Kris. Rush VS Adam Priest was way better than it needed to be, but that’s good for Priest. Though, now it makes me wonder what Rush is even doing. What is LFI as a whole even doing? That group has felt either neglected or just cursed ever since they started in AEW, Tony Khan needs someone to help book this stuff.
Great tag match from Windsor & Persephone VS Thekla & Skye, but duh, of course Julia Hart would affect that ending. I’m still thinking we see a Triple Threat of the three women’s championships, but maybe we see Skye or Julia go after Perse’s title just so Perse can successfully defend the CMLL Women’s title on an AEW PPV. I’d rather have the Triple Threat to really make things interesting. Great National title match and another great showing for CLØN, but I figured Jack Perry would win. Between his reign just starting and Clon kinda being on standby until Hologram returns, this was an obvious outcome.
Good promos from Takeshita and Okada to call each other out, but they’re already pretty high in heat. The only thing that could add more is a brawl. Very good promo from The Opps for them to accept Bowens, but like, shouldn’t this have been aired during Dynamite? Joe was still in his gear! And very good main event Six Man Tag, though there was that moment when Lashley stumbled that was worrying, almost thought he hurt his leg. In the end, Demand of course wins by bending the rules like always. To me, this story is already the flipside of the usual “Jericho Vortex.” When Jericho was a Heel, he was always getting the better of his Face rival, and the Face would ultimately win in the end. With Jericho as a Face, he really is going to be losing again and again until we reach the blowoff/

MJF is here!
Portland cheers but Maxwell Jacob Friedman is in no mood! He immediately shouts for them to cut his music as he storms his way into the ring. The fans boo but MJF says, “You wanna boo me? No, no, no, see I’m not like your paper champion, Darby Allin. When I come out here, you show me the respect I’ve earned!” The fans continue to boo but MJF says last week will be forever be known as the Seattle Screw Job! Three days prior to his match with Darby Allin for MJF’s AEW World Championship, MJF wrestled in an all-out war with Kenny Omega and came out victorious. MJF did not come out without being banged up, bruised, and battered.
Three days later, he is informed he is wrestling Darby that day, and then gets hit in the nuts! That SKANK, Aubrey Edwards, does a fast count! MJF’s shoulders were up! So no, Darby ain’t the world champion, Darby is a dirty little cheater! The fans boo the hypocrisy but he asks if they actually believe Darby can beat MJF at 100%. “YES!” Do this disrespectful little s*its actually believe Darby can beat MJF when he’s prepared? “YES!” Then they must have short term memory loss, so here’s a history lesson: MJF is the most complete pro-wrestler in the history of this sport! MJF is the man who has beaten every top name pro-wrestling has to offer!
MJF is the man who made sure Hangman Adam Page can never be AEW World Champion ever again! And MJF is the man who kicked out of the One Winged Angel like it was nothing! The fans boo but MJF says he is the BEST professional wrestler in the world! Darby Allin, MJF doesn’t give a damn about the main event with the Psycho Killer! If Darby has an ounce of dignity in that fragile body, he will give MJF that title back, RIGHT NOW! The fans boo, and instead of Darby, MJF gets Kevin Knight! The fans cheer The Jet as he walks down the ramp and into the ring. Knight gets a mic to tell MJF, “Different city, same old Max coming out here and whining like a little b*tch.”
The fans chant that at MJF, and Knight says Portland is tired of MJF talking. The Jet just landed, the air’s gonna switch up as it’s about to get real. It’s getting real, because The Jet is 2 Fly. Before MJF gets to hating, he has to be honest: Doesn’t The Jet look clean with the TNT title around his waist? The fans cheer that! Knight says when you’re a real champion, a fighting champion, you’re willing to put the title on the line at any time. Now, MJF, don’t you remember when Knight had you pinned for what seemed like an eternity? If anyone got cheated and screwed, it’s Knight, cuz he should be Jet2Belts right now!
The fans cheer again, but MJF raises an eyebrow. MJF says okay, so, first of all, what an elegant speaker Knight is. Almost Aristotle! Let’s go over the points: Knight is The Jet, The Jet is 2 Fly, The Jet is TNT Champion, The Jet had almost beat MJF, The Jet thinks it is socially acceptable to be friends with Speedball Mike Bailey, and The Jet should be AEW World Champion. Did we get all that right? Okay, cool. Well, obviously, Knight’s memory isn’t that great, but MJF’s memory is, because he’s always the smartest person in the room… MJF beat Knight with a Heatseeker for an easy W. So no, Knight, you should not be world champion.
If anyone should be world champion, it is MJF and MJF alone! But MJF gives Knight credit, nice hardware. Give it up for the TNT Champion! The fans cheer, and MJF says what a cute little title that is, huh? It fits Knight like a glove, because he is a TNT Champion type: a workhorse, good hand, average Joe. Y’know, someone with a ceiling. Someone who will never be AEW World Champion. Someone who should know better than to step into MJF’s ring and breathe MJF’s air. Someone who damn sure should know better than to allow MJF’s AEW World Championship to come out of their average little mouth.
The two stare down but Knight says keep running your mouth, and Jet will slap that big nose off your face and send you packing! MJF is doing a lot of fibbing, talking about Jet not being AEW World Championship material. Anyone can look at Jet and see he is a gold mine! The fans cheer that! Knight says MJF wants to talk about the lineage of this workhorse title, well, some of the best wrestlers have held this title. So no coincidence that someone like MJF has not held it before. The fans like that zinger! Someone like MJF has always had everything handed to him, so let’s keep the train going. Let’s keep it going as The Jet hands MJF an ass whooping! The fans cheer that!
MJF says okay, okay, no, no, shut up! Let’s get this straight, Kevin: You wanna wrestle MJF? What does MJF get out of that? He’s already proven he’s better than Knight. Though, Knight did talk about the TNT title, and MJF’s kinda sold on the belt. Matter of fact, what really makes MJF want it is he can tell how proud Knight is of that title. In fact, MJF would love to turn that pride into depression. So here’s the thing, Jet. You wanna wrestle MJF? Put that TNT title on the line and you’ve got yourself a match! The fans like the sound of that! Knight says hell yeah! Let’s do it! Cuz The Jet is always ready, and being in Rip City tonight, Knight will rip MJF a new one here and now!
The fans fire up and MJF shouts for a ref! Portland is getting hot as Knight and MJF are ready to open the show with a fight! But will MJF make himself the Scumbag Face of TNT? Or will The Jet be #2Fly2StopNow?
AEW TNT Championship: Kevin Knight VS MJF!
But then MJF bails out with a smile on his face. “You’re gonna dance with The Devil next week, kid!” The fans boo, seems there won’t be a match after all. Will Knight make MJF regret postponing his ass kicking?
Backstage interview with The Demand.
Renee Paquette is with Ricochet, Toa Liona & Bishop Kaun and welcomes them for being here, along with… Chris Jericho! Ricochet rolls his eyes as Y2J surprises them with his presence. It was announced for this week’s Collision, a Six Man Tag match of The Demand VS Jericho and partners of his choosing, but has he found said partners? Ricochet laughs, because what are we talking about? Of course Jericho does not know who his partners are gonna be? Liona points out Jericho’s burned every bridge, and Ricochet adds that no one is gonna team with Jericho now that his new gimmick is getting his ass beat The Demand every week he shows up.
Jericho says Ricochet is about to receive a Cease & Desist. What? Why? Jericho’s new moniker, way too long, he got it copywritten. W-What? Ricochet is the one who says it. Yes, it is a great idea, bald, but Jericho can easily set Ricochet and everyone up with a brand new shirt, available on AEW Shop! Yes, it says “Jericho: The Guy Who Gets His Ass Beat by The Demand Every Week That He Shows Up.” Ricochet is upset already. Mock him all you want, Jericho, but on Collision, Ricochet & GOA will steal Jericho’s dignity. There is no one in the locker room that wants to team with Jericho! And even if there were, the result would still be the same: Demand UP!
So this ends the same way as it did at Dynasty: Ricochet pinning Jericho via the “Ricosault.” Jericho says what Ricochet is forgetting is that Jericho doesn’t need to find guys who like him. He just has to find guys who hates Ricochet, bald prick. Jericho storms off, Ricochet asks about that last part, but Liona says it’s okay, let Jericho try to find anyone, it won’t matter. But will the Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla have plenty of choices when it comes to those who want to beat down The Demand?
Brody King VS Lio Rush!
Well, now tonight’s action kicks off as The King of Death crosses paths with The Problem Child. Lio’s new persona even gave Pac the creeps, but will it have the same effect on Brody? Or will this be Lio’s Final Hour?
The bell rings and Lio is talking to himself, just like before, but then Brody YANKS Lio from the corner! The fans rally for Brody but Lio looks up at Brody, his expression going back and forth between a confused grown and a wild grin. Lio circles Brody while the fans bark, but even Brody seems unsure what to think of Lio as Lio offers the handshake. Brody accepts, but he isn’t letting go! The fans cheer as Lio struggles, but then Lio BITES Brody’s hand! Brody lets go, Lio runs, redirects, dodges, and repeat! Lio CROSSBODIES, but into Brody’s arms! Brody SLAMS Lio and Lio scrambles to the corner! The fans bark while Brody stares Lio down.
Brody runs up, Lio dodges, but Brody denies the stunner. Brody shoves Lio to another corner, then runs in for a SPLASH! And LARIAT! Brody snapmares but Lio bails out. Brody pursues, Lio CHOPS, but Brody just frowns. Brody CHOPS and Lio is stinging already! Brody CHOPS Lio and Lio flops against railing! Brody brings as chair around, makes Lio take a seat, and then barks as he gets space. The fans join in, and Brody runs up, but Lio dodges! The splash hits railing! Lio goes up onto the desk, creeps Nigel out a bit, then CROSSBODIES, but Brody catches him again! Brody pops Lio around but Lio slips free to POST Brody!
Lio RAMS Brody into the railing and the fans fire up! Brody slumps down while Dynamite goes picture in picture.
The ref checks Brody, and though he clutches an arm, he is okay to continue. So Lio clamps on and CLAWS Brody’s eyes! The ref reprimands but Lio stops at 4. Brody goes to railing while Lio goes to the ring, and Lio is already doing his own ring count. The ref says hold on, and starts the official count. Lio paces as he waits on Brody, then DROPKICKS Brody off the apron! Lio builds speed, DIVES, but Brody catches him again! APRON CHOKE SLAM! Lio slumps down now while Brody shakes out the bad arm. Brody drags Lio up, CHOPS him, then stalks him around the way. Brody CHOPS Lio, keeps him from escaping into the crowd, then CHOPS again!
Lio staggers around the way but Brody pursues. Brody brings Lio up to whip, but Lio stops short of hitting railing. Brody runs up, but Lio dodges, sending him into the railing! Lio then whips Brody, but Brody reverses, and Lio hits railing after all! Brody storms up on Lio, drags him up, and puts him in the ring. Brody shakes out the bad arm while Lio goes to a corner. Brody runs corner to corner but Lio dodges again! Brody hits buckles, Lio BITES a leg! The ref reprimands but Lio stops, so he can SPIN KICK! Brody is down but so is Lio! Lio still has a wild smile on his face as he sits back up. Dynamite returns to single picture as Lio fires forearms!
Brody grabs Lio by both hands, whips him, but Lio rebounds into RUSH- NO! No Rush Hour stunner, Brody back suplexes! The fans fire up as Brody keeps moving, and he LARIATS Lio inside-out! Both men are down again as Brody still works on the bad arm. The fans rally as Brody storms after Lio, but Lio bails out to the apron. Brody drags Lio up, but Lio HOTSHOTS the bad arm! Lio brings Brody in, HOTSHOT STUNNER! Brody sputters and flops to the apron while Lio says something is getting stronger. Lio fireman’s carries?! Brody CLUBS Lio, then reels him in! Canadian Rack, but Lio CLAWS the eyes again!
Lio is free, and he HANDSPRING KICKS Brody down! The fans rally while Lio runs around like a gremlin! Then he DIVES! Down goes Brody and the fans fire up again! Lio climbs a corner, goes to the very top, and he SUPER DUPER CROSSBODIES! Down goes Brody after all, and he again clutches the arm. Lio grins another wild grin while the fans cheer. Lio leaves Brody behind to go back to the ring. Brody rises, but Lio climbs! The fans fire up again as Lio sees Brody slide into the ring! FROG SPLASH onto Brody’s back! Cover, ONE!! Brody toughs it out, but Lio starts to foam at the mouth! Lio warns the ref, then goes to a corner.
Lio climbs while Brody stands, and Brody runs up! Lio leaps over, rolls through, then dodges a lariat. Lio waistlocks but Brody wrenches free and whips Lio, for the BOSS MAN SLAM! The fans fire up for Brody as Lio goes to a corner. Brody barks, the fans are with him, CANNONBALL! Direct hit and Brody gets Lio up, for the GONZO BOMB!! Cover, Brody wins!
Winner: Brody King, by pinfall
Lio’s strange new nature certainly took some getting used to, but Brody still powered through to victory. Seven singles wins in a row and Brody grabs a mic. “Tonight, in the main event, I’ll be keeping a close eye on that world title match.” The fans cheer that! Brody tells Ciampa that if he comes out on top, congratulations. But Darby Allin… Brody is so proud of Darby. The fans cheer, but Brody says, “Not proud enough to not bring the violence.” Brody has put both men on notice! Will the King of Death battle a Psycho Killer or a Relentless One when the time comes?
Backstage interview with Tommaso Ciampa.
Speaking of the Psycho Killer, Renee Paquette is there to ask him about tonight’s main event match for THE AEW World Championship. Darby Allin’s first defense, Ciampa’s first challenge, how is it going to go? Ciampa says he’s been told his entire career what he is not. Not big enough, not 6’4″, not 250 pounds, not able to pass the “airport test,” not charismatic enough, not main event material. But he will tell you what he is: A husband, a father, a son, a brother, with an insane work ethic. Tonight isn’t about villains and heroes, but about passion, about proving that glass ceilings are imaginary.
Tonight is about professional wrestling, for the grandest sport in this business, THE AEW World Championship. So if you’re asking Ciampa if he’s ready… Ciampa stands up to say, “You have never seen a man more prepared for his moment than I am tonight. Now go ask Darby Allin: Do you want this more than I need it?” Ciampa heads out, will nothing stop him from getting what he needs?
Adam Copeland speaks.
The Rated R Superstar is backstage as he tells FTR, “You said that Christian and I will never get another tag team title shot. Now, I might be biased, but I think we deserve another one. So I came up with a plan. Cuz if nothing else, I’m a fair man. I came up with an idea that I don’t even think you can refuse. Because you guys talk about being the best tag team of all time, FTR: The Greatest Team Team of All Time, right? Hmm. Debatable. But you’re one of the best ever, that’s nondebatable, otherwise you don’t do this (points to small scar) to my face. So here’s the idea: At Double or Nothing, Christian and I challenge you for the AEW Tag Team Championships in a New York Street Fight!
“Now, I know your little brains are struggling with, ‘What exactly is in it for for us?’ Well, here we go. You wanna prove you’re the best ever? If you beat us at Double or Nothing, we retire as a team. Hmm. Whaddya think? I know what my answer would be. And if you’re actually the best tag team of all time, I know what your answer would be! Unless deep down inside, deep down, you know we’re better. Only one way to prove it. Now, like I said, I know what I’d do, but I’m a man. Ball’s in your court, boys.” Cope heads out, what will Dax & Cash say to him raising the stakes?
Mina Shirakawa VS Hikaru Shida w/ Kris Statlander!
The Fighting Gravure Idol suspects of The Shining Samurai of being very two-faced, and not just in this passive aggressive way she works with Kris Statlander as a team. Mina suspects Shida even had something to do with what happened to Toni Storm! But will Mina expose Shida’s true self? Or will Shida simple strike down #MinaNow?
The bell rings and the fans rally. Shida offers a handshake but Mina does not trust it. Shida shrugs and circles with Mina. They tie up, Mina headlocks, but Shida fires body shots. Shida powers up but can’t power out as Mina holds on tight! Shida fights up, blocks Mina’s takeover, and lifts! Mina lands out of the throw, Shida runs the ropes, and Mina drops down! Shida rolls, comes back, but Mina sidesteps. Shida blocks the arm-drag, shakes her head, and KNEES Mina low. Shida whips but Mina blocks by holding ropes! Shida ROCKS Mina again and again, but Mina fires in return! The fans cheer as Shida and Mina pull hair!
The ref reprimands but Shida THROWS Mina away! Mina is up, she grabs Shida’s hair and THROWS her away! Dropkicks cancel out, and the fans cheer the standoff! Mina and Shida reset, run up, and Mina slides under to do her shimmy. Then she ducks the kick, and the other, to kip up and arm-drag! Shida goes to a corner, Mina runs up, but Shida dodges. Mina goes outside, inside, and FLYING CHUCK! Shida staggers, Mina runs, and Mina SLINGBLADES! The fans fire up for Mina as she rains down forearms! The ref warns about hair pulling but Shida turns things over! Only for Mina to turn things back around with a sunset flip, TWO!
Shida high-stacks, TWO! Mina has it now, TWO! Shida has a prawn hold, TWO! Shida goes up, but Mina avoids the stomps! Mina runs up, Shida dodges, and Shida’s JUMP KNEE hits! The fans fire up with Shida while Dynamite goes picture in picture.
Shida storms back over to Mina, drags her up, and puts her on the apron. Shida then goes out to stomp Mina, stomp again, then she hops down to CLUB Mina. Shida rallies the fans while she lines up a shot, and runs up to KNEE LIFT! Mina sputters but Shida is fired up! Mina slumps off the apron and to the floor but Shida puts her back in. Shida sits on Mina for a cover, TWO! Shida keeps on Mina by bringing her up and around. Mina fires shots but Shida just KNEES low! Mina drops down, but Shida brings her back around to put her in a corner. Shida fires up and rains down fists! Shida goes right to TEN, then fires up again!
Shida snapmares Mina, KICKS her in the back, then pushes her to a cover, TWO! Mina toughs it out but Shida stays focused. Shida CLUBS away on Mina, Mina fires body shots, but Shida whips Mina to ropes. Shida scoops for a BACKBREAKER! Cover, TWO! Mina toughs it out but Shida stays right on her with a CAMEL CLUTCH! Mina endures being bent back, and she fights her way over to the ropes! Shida grabs the hand reaching out to make this a STRAITJACKET STRETCH! Mina still fights, and kicks her way to the ROPEBREAK! Shida lets go quickly, then brings Mina up as Dynamite returns to single picture.
Mina fires forearms on Shida, but Shida HEADBUTTS in return! The fans rally as Shida whips, but Mina tilt-o-whirls to RANA! The fans fire up as Mina then SHOTGUNS Shida! Shida stumbles to a corner, the fans rally with Mina, and she runs corner to corner for an ELBOW! Mina whips, Shida reverses, but Mina grabs ropes. Mina BOOTS Shida, then steps outside. Mina blocks a kick to DRAPING DRAGON SCREW! Shida is stuck in the ropes but Mina sweeps the leg! Mina then aims to slingshot and TORNILLO! Cover, TWO! Shida survives and Kris applauds with the fans. Mina drags Shida around to SMASH the knee off the mat again and again!
Mina drags Shida up, brings her around, and has the leg again! SHIN BREAKER! Shida hobbles and falls while the fans rally up again. Mina has the legs, steps through, but Shida CLUBS away on Mina’s own legs! Mina hits back, lets the hold go, and Shida bails out. Shida clutches the knee but Mina pursues. Backstage interview with Alex Windsor.
Dynamite returns as Renee Paquette is with the Iron Will NJPW Strong Women’s Champion, and says it has been a difficult week after losing to Thekla. Jamie Hayter is not medically cleared after her own loss to Thekla back at Dynasty, but surely the Brawling Birds are far from done with The Toxic Spider. Windsor says no we are bloody not! They’ve tried to squash this bug, but that didn’t work. So now, Windsor will rip off each of Thekla’s stubby little legs! Triangle of Madness, count yourselves lucky that Jamie is NOT here to help her stomp you all out into a puddle of piss! But then in steps the CMLL Women’s World Champion, Persephone!
The Goddess of the Underworld tells Windsor that she is sorry about Jamie. But she was here and thinking she could kick some annoying little asses. And who more annoying than the Triangle of Madness! Perse may not be a Brawling Bird, but if Windsor will have a Goddess in her corner, she’s more than happy to help. Well, that was easy. Windsor says the Triangle can pick any two, and they can meet Windsor & Perse on Collision! Now, how do you say, “We’re gonna beat the piss outta you!” in Spanish? Perse translates: Vamos a paliza muerte! What she said! Are the CMLL & NJPW Strong Women’s Champions about to crush Thekla and her Sisters of Sin?
Samoa Joe VS Cody Chhun!
After World’s End, not only did the Samoan Submission Machine lose the title, he lost time to injury. Hook’s been holding it down for The Opps, but will the real boss man remind everyone who’s in charge?
The bell rings and the fans are all fired up for Joe. The two tie up, Joe wrenches and wristlocks, but Cody rolls and slips under. Cody wrenches to wristlock, but Joe squats, spins, and fireman’s carries for the takeover. Joe has the armlock but Cody fights up. Joe wrenches, wristlocks, then HEADBUTTS the hand again and again! Cody endures, ROCKS Joe, but Joe just shrugs that off. Cody is a bit taken aback, but he swings again! Joe keeps up the guard, then he ELBOWS Cody down! The fans fire up for Joe as he waits on Cody. Cody stands, into a JAB! JAB! JAB! Joe fires off shots in the corner, then RIDGE HANDS Cody down!
The fans fire up for Joe again as he drags Cody back up. Joe puts Cody up top, tucks him in, but then Cody CLAWS the eyes! The ref reprimands, the fans boo, but Cody CROSSBODIES, only for the “Samoa Nope!” Joe lets Cody belly flop and the fans fire up! Joe storms over to Cody, THROWS him hard into the corner, then puts him up top! Tuck and lift, MUSCLE BUSTER!! Cover, Joe wins!
Winner: Samoa Joe, by pinfall
No ring rust found on Joe, he is truly back at 100%! And as Joe goes up the ramp, Hook is there to be the first to celebrate. They fist bump and hug it out, will The Opps get right back on top now that Joe’s back?
Backstage interview with Chris Jericho.
Renee checks in on Jericho and asks if he’s found partners for the Six Man Tag for Collision. In fact, he did. He was just talking to them. The HURT SYNDICATE walks out of Jericho’s locker room! Shelton Benjamin says hello to Renee, always a pleasure. Bobby Lashley nods, and Montel Vontavious Porter says this isn’t personal, it’s just business. Jericho smiles as MVP heads out, and adds one last “Bald.” Will Jericho, Lashley & Shelton make sure to not just hurt people, but hurt The Demand?
Tony Schiavone is in the ring.
“Ladies and gentlemen, please stand up and welcome the NEW AEW Champion of the World, Darby Allin!” The fans indeed stand and cheer as The Relentless One makes his way to the ring, holding up #PrettyPlatinum! Darby joins Schiavone in the ring, then takes the mic. Darby sets the belt down and kneels beside it while fans chant, “You Deserve It!” Darby takes a moment before he stands again. Darby paces as the emotions are running high. “This took everything. Y’know where I had my first match? Right here in Portland.” The fans cheer for that! Darby didn’t think of what he was gonna say tonight, because this can all end in a matter of minutes when Ciampa comes out here.
The fans boo that idea but Darby says that’s just the thing! It is just a 15 minute ride. Darby sees what this championship does to people. It can grow their egos and make them into something that they’re not. But this isn’t for him. This is for his parents that he helped retire. This is for his beautiful fiancé that he met back on the school bus. This is for the sherpas that helped him on Mount Everest. And this is for all the fans! Because when this 15 minute ride is over, he wants to look in the mirror and still know who he’s looking at. But MJF storms out here shouting, “No, no, no, no, no!” The fans boo as the Scumbag has to ruin things.
MJF says, “You Deserve It?! These people wanna chant ‘You Deserve It?!’ You don’t deserve s*it!!” The fans boo more but MJF tells “pipsqueak” Darby to give him back the belt, right now! Darby says no. The fans cheer, so MJF demands a rematch! Darby again says no. Darby tells MJF that he’s not giving MJF anything until MJF puts something on the line. Because unlike MJF, everyone else in the back deserves their shot, and that is what Darby promises to do every single week! Darby will put his body on the line until it gives out! And it all starts tonight with Ciampa, right now! So MJF, get your ass outta here!
And speaking of Ciampa, his music starts as he steps out on stage! MJF gets in Ciampa’s face as Ciampa walks down the ramp, but Ciampa just gives him a kiss on the cheek. His shadow knows his story, but will that story’s next chapter include THE AEW World Championship? The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and we see if Darby survives his first!
AEW World Championship: Darby Allin VS Tommaso Ciampa!
The bell rings and the fans fire up as the fists start flying! Ciampa SHOVES Darby to a corner, CHOPS, ROCKS, and CHOPS again! Ciampa whips corner to corner, then runs up to BOOT Darby! Ciampa runs corner to corner, but Darby follows to SHOTGUN him down! Darby goes up, up, and- NO, Ciampa bails out! Ciampa says time out, but no such luck! Darby just follows him to the next corner, goes back up, and SUPER COFFIN SPLASHES! Wild and risky as always, but Darby roars as he stands back up! The fans are with Darby as he drags Ciampa up and into the ring. But then Ciampa has Darby in ropes!
Darby slips free, trips Ciampa up, but then Ciampa BOOTS Darby away, into the desk! Darby falls in a heap but Ciampa is right on him. Ciampa whips Darby hard into barriers! The fans rally while Dynamite goes picture in picture.
Ciampa drags Darby up, hears the fans cheering Darby on, and decides to suplex and SLAM Darby on railing! Ciampa lines up a shot, and he KNEES Darby down! Ciampa revels in the cheers and jeers, then goes back to Darby. Ciampa drags Darby up and into the ring, pushes him around, then stomps the hand! Ciampa SLAMS that hand off the mat, then drags him back up. Darby fires body shots with the good hand, but Ciampa TOSSES Darby back out! Darby hurries to the apron but Ciampa BLASTS him down! Ciampa applauds himself and pats himself on the back, then goes out to stomp away on Darby.
Dynamite returns to single picture as Ciampa CHOKES Darby, but the ref counts. Ciampa stops at 4, but he shows the ring frame off to the fans! Then CATAPULT GUILLOTINE into the frame! Darby writhes and clutches his head! The fans are torn as Ciampa stalks Darby around the way. Ciampa THROWS Darby into railing, then refreshes the ring count. Darby slumps against railing while Ciampa runs in! But Darby dodges! Ciampa gets jammed up by the railing, and Darby goes up the corner! Darby takes the top off the corner post to then stand on said post, and SUPER DUPER CROSSBODY down through a table!!
The fans go nuts as Darby and Ciampa are down in the timekeeper’s area! Darby rises up already, but he flops right onto the commentary desk. Darby then slumps off the desk to hobble into the ring. The fans cheer “A E DUB!” for making this match happen. The ring count starts on Ciampa, but even Darby struggles to sit up. Ciampa hobbles his way over at 5 of 10, but he is busted open! Darby runs and DIVES! Direct hit into the desk! The fans go nuts as both men are down again! Darby snarls and rises, he rains fists down on Ciampa’s bloodied forehead, but Ciampa kicks from below. Darby hobbles, “This is Awesome!”
Darby puts Ciampa in, goes up, but Ciampa grabs the ref so he can then trip Darby up! The fans boo and the ref reprimands, but Ciampa sprinkles blood on the camera from shaking out the stars. Ciampa stomps away on Darby but the ref counts. Ciampa stops, Darby checks that bloody wound, but Ciampa keeps his eyes on Darby. Darby crawls over to a corner, Ciampa clamps on, and dragon sleeper, but Darby uses the corner to go up and over! Ciampa grabs at the corner, but Darby still hits SCORPION DEATH DROP! The buckle pad goes flying while both men fall down! The fans rally again as both men stir.
Darby sits up first, looks to the corner, and he climbs up again! Ciampa rolls away, the crimson mask growing. Darby pursues, but Ciampa wants mercy? The fans rally for Darby but Ciampa says he’s just as crazy! Ciampa sits Darby up to CHOP! Darby wobbles but Ciampa CHOPS him again! Then Ciampa climbs up, brings Darby up in a fireman’s carry, and tucks him in! SUPER PSYCHO DRILLER to the FLOOR!!! The fans are going nuts while Ciampa writhes from hitting his own tailbone!
The ref is freaking out, too, asking what Ciampa was thinking! The ref checks Darby while he’s down and out, and Dynamite goes picture in picture.
Ciampa still writhes, the ref has to check his bloody forehead and his back now. Ciampa grits his teeth and pounds the floor mats in pain, but somehow he is still able to sit up. Ciampa refuses to let this stop him, though, and he crawls over to Darby. Ciampa drags Darby up, the ragdoll he is right now, and puts him in the ring. Ciampa then drags Darby to a cover, ROPEBREAK!! Darby has life enough to survive by a literal foot! Ciampa is too sore to even be upset, and he slowly sits back up. Ciampa drags Darby around, CHOPS him, then sits him up for another CHOP! And another CHOP! Darby CHOPS back! And CHOPS again!
The CHOPS go back and forth, faster and harder, then Darby gets the edge! Darby runs, ducks ‘n’ dodges, but Ciampa CLOBBERS him with a flying forearm! A bit double-edged given his own head wound, and both men are down again. A standing count starts, rises past 5 of 10, and Dynamite returns to single picture. Ciampa and Darby slowly rise again as the fans rally up. Darby and Ciampa spot each other, and they stand up for m ore forearms! The fans fire up as the shots are simultaneous! Ciampa gets the edge, he ROCKS and CHOPS Darby on repeat, and in the corner! CHOP, CHOP, CHOP, and Ciampa roars!
Portland fires up as Ciampa pushes Darby, runs up, but Darby dodges! Ciampa stops short of the bare buckle, then he catches Darby’s shotgun! CATAPULT, but Darby goes up the ropes to then IMPLODER STOMP! The fans cheer as Darby turns things back around on Ciampa! Both men sit up again, and Darby fires a forearm! The fans rally, “This is Awesome!” as Darby drags himself back to a corner. Darby climbs, climbs, and COFFIN DROPS but into a REAR NAKED CHOKE!! Ciampa squeezes tight, the body scissors on, but Darby pops through to cover! TWO, and both men hurry to their feet! Darby runs up, but Ciampa dodges, sending Darby into that bare buckle!! Darby bridges back with the hold, it’s almost a Figure Four because of it! Darby gets back to his feet so he can put on more pressure, and CIAMPA TAPS! Darby wins!!
Winner: Darby Allin, by submission (still AEW World Champion)
Portland gives a standing ovation to the instant classic, this truly bloody war, that was Darby’s first title defense! Darby wins out, and looks exhausted already as he sits up slowly, title belt in hand. Darby then offers a handshake to Ciampa, and Ciampa accepts. The fans cheer as they both bow deeply to show respect. Ciampa helps put the belt on Darby’s shoulder and pats him on the other. Ciampa’s first try at the world title failed, but will he be back before you know it? Wait, here comes Brody King! He did say he’d face whoever won tonight, and he helps Darby stand up.
Brody has a mic to tell Darby, “I was serious when I said that I’m proud of you. We have spent countless nights talking about moments just like this. I just talked to Tony Khan, and with your permission, next week, Darby Allin, Brody King, for the AEW World Title!” The fans like the sound of that! Darby and Brody shake on it, so the match is set! But if this is how beat up Darby is after just his first defense, will he stand a chance in his second? Or will the King of Death make himself King of the World?
My Thoughts:
A great Dynamite as we start the Darby Allin Era, but MJF also had a logical response to all of it. MJF will of course deflect that he was caught off guard only because he ignored all messages from AEW, and then he demands to get a rematch over how he lost. Kevin Knight confronting MJF was good stuff, good promo from Knight in that, and them giving us Knight VS MJF for the TNT title next week is really good stuff, can’t wait to see how that goes. I wonder, with Darby telling MJF to put up something, does MJF cheat the TNT title off Knight to then put it up against the world title? Will Double or Nothing truly be about a double champion while the other has nothing?
Darby VS Ciampa was wild for a TV main event, especially with Ciampa getting busted open and almost busting his ass quite literally with that Air Raid Crash from the top. Great win for Darby as just his first defense, and Brody King makes a great second defense just on the history between them. Ospreay VS Davis was also a great match, and I’m rather surprised by the referee/medical stoppage. The Death Riders coming out to save and then abduct Ospreay was also surprising, I have no idea where this is going. Will The Death Riders try and toughen Ospreay up? Brainwash him? Or reason with him that together, they can take down Don Callis Family?
Good promo from Windsor and Persephone, but a shame to hear about Jamie Hayter being hurt again, because we could’ve gotten a great Six Woman Tag of Perse & Birds VS Triangle of Madness. The tag match will still be good, and I wouldn’t mind seeing a Triple Threat of Thekla VS Windsor VS Perse, perhaps even with each title on the line somehow. Maybe something where the one taking the loss loses the title, the odd woman out retaining her title? That’d be the kind of convoluted yet fun match stipulation AEW would make. Though with that, it might only be Thekla getting the NJPW title so she can torment NJPW/Stardom again through this loophole.
Really good stuff with Shida VS Mina, with just enough of the Heel Shida antics with the kendo stick to further tease her eventual turn. Kris being the Face partner, she of course stopped Mina from using the kendo stick, and then that costs Mina, all good stuff. Samoa Joe of course wins his return match, and I was hoping more of The Opps here, but maybe Collision is where Joe & Hook decide if Bowens is Opps material. Great promos with Jericho and The Demand, as well as with The Hurt Syndicate. Jericho & Hurt Syndicate likely win because Hurt Syndicate is still on their return push, and we can definitely split off into Jericho VS Ricochet 2 and Hurt Syndicate VS GOA.
Very good promo from Cope to raise the stakes on the title rematch. But c’mon, a team breakup/retirement match has to give away that C&C win. Then FTR VS C&C Round 3 can be for like All In London and that will be just an awesome match for what AEW is making into their WrestleMania.
My Score: 8.9/10
