Backstage interview with Colt Cabana.

Dasha welcomes Colt back to ROH and he thanks her for that. He faces someone he knows very well tonight in Samoa Joe, where is Colt’s mind at? Colt isn’t sure if anyone knows, but Colt has deep history in ROH and with Joe specifically. They fought over the ROH World Heavyweight Championship, the ROH Pure Championship, and it seems meant to be for this triad to finish. Colt has some real emotions right now. He is so proud to be here, ROH is near and dear to him, so it was so great to hear Tony Khan bought it. Colt is happy to be back here with such a huge match up.

Colt didn’t know where his place was in ROH, but he’s honored to be given this opportunity, and he’s gonna make the most of this. He will give his all to win a title he’s never held before. As the trilogy completes tonight, who comes out the King of Wrestling Television?

Lance Archer VS JAH-C!

The Murderhawk Monster is back again, and he’s already up to his old ways just TOSSING his opponent down the ramp! Will JAH learn the hard way that #EverybodyDies?

Archer tosses Jah into the ring, finishes his entrance, and the bell rings. Fans fire up and Jah wants Archer to hold on. Jah offers the handshake, Archer accepts, but then whips him to the corner! Jah goes out, slides under, keeps moving and DROPKICKS! Archer drops to a knee, but stands up as Jah poses. Jah freaks out and throws hands! Archer doesn’t budge! Jah stomps a foot, runs, but into a THESZ PRESS! Archer fires up and the fans fire up with him. Archer kicks Jah to a corner, runs in and back elbows! Archer keeps going, another back elbow! And then another! Jah flops down and fans stay fired up!

Archer storms around, stalks Jah, and eggs him on. Jah CHOPS, but Archer doesn’t flinch! Another CHOP, and some haymakers, but Archer just revels in it! Archer KNEES Jah, KNEES him again, then dragon sleepers for a REVERSE DDT! Jah sits up in a daze and Archer shouts, “Everybody! EVERYBODY! The Code of Honor is upheld and the bell rings. Milwaukee cheers Jett as he ties up with Cage. They go around, Jett puts Cage in a corner but Cage turns it around. Cage RAMS into Jett, stands him up, then RAMS him again! Cage then clinches and OVERHEAD Belly2Belly suplexes! Jett staggers away and Cage storms up on him. Cage throws hands, uppercuts, and then whips Jett to ropes. Jett reverses and JABS! Cage KICKS, Jett KNEES and BOOTS! Jett swings, into a GERMAN SUPLEX! Cage gloats and flexes, and Nana cheers his top guy. Cage stomps Jett to a corner, kicks away on him, then sits him down for a BOOT!

Cage goes side to side, gets the Terminator Drum going, and he BOOT WASHES Jett! Cage soaks up the cheers and jeers while Jett flounders up. Fans rally, and Jett throws hands! Heather cravats for SLICED BREAD! Cover, ONE!! Athena bails out but Heather takes aim. Heather aims from the apron to CROSSBODY! But Athena catches her! Fans fire up as Athena carries Heather, and then SLAMS her into the railing!

Athena pushes things aside, drags Heather up, and SWINGS her into the railing again! And again! Fans cheer but the ring count starts. The Code of Honor is upheld, the teams sort out, and Johnson starts against Silver. They circle, tie up, and go around. Johnson waistlocks, Silver pries at the hold, and Silver wrenches to a wristlock. Fans rally for “Johnny Hungy!” but Big Shotty powers his way through to hammerlock back. Silver reaches back to headlock but Johnson powers out. Silver runs Johnson over, and fans fire up for the flex. Things speed up, Johnson hurdles but Silver front flips! Silver DROPKICKS Johnson, then tags Reynolds. They double whip to double hip toss into the double FACEBUSTER! Cover, TWO!

Penta says okay, here comes the glove. Fans fire up as the glove comes off! Toss to Alex, but Comoroto swats it! Comoroto shakes his finger and uses the Italian chin flick! Penta retaliates with KICK after KICK, and then “CERO! MIEDO!” Penta runs, but Comoroto CLOBBERS him! Comoroto soaks up the heat, he RAMS Penta into a corner and RAMS him again and again! Comoroto then brings Penta around to scoop and SLAM!

Alex rallies the fans with “Cero! Miedo!” but Comoroto drops an elbow! And another elbow! And then pumps up for a scuff of the face! Moriarty fights up and rolls again, then trips Konosuke up to get his legs! Moriarty then floats to the headlock! Konosuke fights up, Moriarty hits a headlock takeover, and Moriarty says no one better boo him. Konosuke headscissors but Moriarty moves around. Moriarty headstands and pops free to roll Konosuke.

Moriarty has the arm, grinds the shoulder, but Konosuke stands. Konosuke whips and arm-drags Moriarty, then trips him! Things speed up, Moriarty hurdles but Konosuke leaps over! The AAA Mega Champion returns to ROH to take on another budding rival in the realm of lucha libre! Will Vikingo continue his win streak here in ROH? Or will the crazy White boy get a massive victory?

The Code of Honor is upheld and the bell rings. Fans cheer as the two circle. Fans duel, EHDV rushes in but Loco jumps over. Things speed up, Vikingo arm-drags! Vikingo SOBATS in the corner, whips corner to corner, but Loco goes up and over and handsprings away. Fans cheer the ability, but Viking runs in, jumps up and stands on Loco before the RANA! Things keep moving, Loco ducks a kick and both men stare down as they show punch! Fans fire up again as the two reset. Loco blocks a kick, Viking dodge a haymakder to RANA, but Loco handsprings through! Loco wags his finger and fans fire up again.

Vikingo kicks the wagging finger, WHEEL KICKS Loco out of the ring, then builds speed! To DIVE but hit nothing! Loco builds speed to FLY and he takes Vikingo out at the ramp! “This is Awesome!” already as Loco puts Vikingo in. Cover, TWO! Loco rallies the fans and they duel again. Loco wristlocks and CLUBS Vikingo’s arm. Loco wrenches but Vikingo uses his leg to break free. Viking ROCKS Loco, but Loco ROCKS Vikingo! Fans rally up as Loco looms over Vikingo. Loco puts Vikingo in a drop zone, climbs up the corner, and fans rally. Loco steadies himself, to PHOENIX SPLASH but flops as Vikingo moves! Vikingo SHOTGUNS Loco, runs corner to corner, but Loco puts him on the apron. Vikingo GAMANGIRIS back, goes up the corner, but Loco trips him up! Loco slashes his throat, he wants to end this already. Loco goes up the corner to join Vikingo, but Viking CLUBS him! Loco ROCKS Vikingo, and they brawl up top! Fans fire up for “ROH! ROH!” for giving them this great match. Loco stands up to SPRINGBOARD SPANISH FLY!!

Loco says he’s not done there! He drags Vikingo back up, whips him, but Vikingo handsprings, but into a LANDSLIDE!! Cover, TWO!! Vikingo survives and Loco can’t believe it. Fans rally up, Loco lines up a shot, and he SLAPS Vikingo! Fans boo Loco’s attitude but he waits on Vikingo. Vikingo goes to the far corner, Loco runs in, but Vikingo SUPERKICKS him! Loco shakes that off, comes back, but Vikingo wrenches and whips. Loco reverses, Vikingo KICKS back! Vikingo aims, Loco sits up, into a SUPERKICK! Fans fire up again as Vikingo runs and cartwheels to the top rope!

Vikingo aims as Loco stands, and then Vikingo jumps, cartwheels, springboards and FLYING RANAS! Loco bails out and fans fire up as Vikingo aims again. Vikingo springboards to INSIDE-OUT DRAGON RANA!! Fans are thunderous as Vikingo continues to defy physics! Vikingo puts Loco in to cover, TWO! Loco is hanging tough but Vikingo climbs the ropes. Vikingo balances himself for an OUTSIDE-IN PHOENIX SPLASH!! Cover, TWO!! Vikingo is surprised but the fans again say “This is Awesome!” Vikingo drags Loco up for knees and forearms. Vikingo whips corner to corner, but Loco stops to elbow back!

Loco goes up, leaps, but Vikingo catches him! Strength on top of speed! SWINGING SIDE SLAM! Vikingo sits Loco up for a SCREW HIGH KICK! Loco bails out again and Vikingo goes up the corner. Vikingo tightrope walks to then SUPER SKY TWISTER!! Direct hit at the ramp and fans are thunderous again! Vikingo drags Loco up, puts him in the ring, covers, TWO! Loco is still in this but Vikingo puts Loco in the drop zone. Vikingo goes up top again, 630 but he has to bail out! Loco gets Vikingo for an ALLEY-OOP BUCKLE BOMB!! Vikingo goes to the apron, but Loco drags Vikingo up the corner.

Fans rally, Loco has Vikingo on the top rope, for a SUPER TROPHY LIFT PRESS SLAM!!! Fans are losing their minds over this! Cover, TWO!! Vikingo is still alive but the fans hope they “Fight Forever!” This has to end somehow, though, and both men stir. Loco goes to ropes and drags himself up. Vikingo goes to the far corner and Loco waits. Loco runs in but Vikingo goes up and around to then springboards and FLYING POISON-RANA!! And then METEORA in the corner!! Vikingo goes up and Loco is in the drop zone, 630!!! Cover, Vikingo wins!!

The Iron Savages w/ Jameson Ryan VS Ren Jones & Logan Lynch!

They may not be Bears anymore, but Bronson & Boulder are still big, mean and hungry for gold! Will they finally feast in ROH?

The Code of Honor is offered by Boulder, and Ren sorta honors it. Boulder then gets mad and he headbutts the buckle to fire up. Ren dodges Boulder, JABS him, but Boulder doesn’t budge! Ren does a dance, spins to LARIAT, but he hears his own arm! Boulder grabs Ren by the beard, hoists him up, and trophy lifts Ren to the corner! Bronson tags in but Logan runs over. Boulder TOSSES Ren onto Logan! Bronson SENTONS them both! Fans fire up with Bronson and Boulder gets powder from Jameson. Bronson scoops Ren to PILEDRIVE him into Logan! Fans fire up with Bronson again, and he tags in Boulder.

Boulder has the powder, he dusts his hands off and even slaps his face a bit. Boulder stacks Logan and Ren to show he’s the strongest man in the world! DOUBLE SCOOP SLAM!! Fans go wild as the straps come down! Tag to Bronson, he climbs up the corner and Boulder gives him an Electric Chair Lift! IRON TOWER!! Cover, the Iron Savages win!

ROH World Television Championship: Samoa Joe VS Colt Cabana!

This match is practically the DNA of ROH, and could be the biggest trilogy in ROH history! Will the King of Wrestling Television not let anyone take his throne? Or will BOOM BOOM come through in the end?

The introductions are made, the belt is raised, and we see how welcoming Joe will be.

The Code of Honor is upheld, the bell rings, and the two circle. Fans rally up, the two tie up, and Joe powers Colt to a corner. The ref counts the break, Colt counts his own and that’s fast, but Joe lets off at the ref’s count of 4. Fans sing, “Joe is gonna kill you!” Colt has heard that before so he shrugs it off. They tie up, Joe powers Colt back but Colt slips under. Colt then dodges a boot, gets around, plays keep away and rolls Joe up! TWO, but Colt CHOPS! And ROCKS! And whips, but Joe reverses. Colt goes up and around, but Joe CLOBBERS him! Colt sits up in a daze, and Joe JABS! And JABS! And JABS away in the corner!

The ref counts but Joe JABS Colt into sitting down! Fans fire up and Joe drags Colt up. Colt ROCKS Joe, ROCKS him again, and whips, only for Joe to reverse! Back elbow and PELE! Colt sits down and Joe drags him to a cover, TWO! Colt gets up but Joe is on him at the ropes. Joe snapmares Colt and ELBOWS him in the shoulder. Joe neck wrenches but Colt endures. Fans rally and Colt pries the hold open. Joe CLUBS Colt, throws him down, and Joe tells fans to hush. Joe clamps onto Colt again with another neck wrench. Colt endures, fights up again, and Colt pries the hands away. Joe CLUBS Colt!

Joe snapmares and CHOPS Colt in the back, then PENALTY KICKS! Joe runs to then ELBOW DROP! Cover, TWO! Joe is a little annoyed but he keeps close. Colt grits his teeth and sits up, but Joe KICKS him in the back. Colt CHOPS, Joe KICKS, repeat! Joe HEADBUTTS Colt and Colt flounders to a corner. Joe storms up on Colt, CHOPS him, but Colt CHOPS! Joe HEADBUTTS, hoists Colt up top, and fans duel. Joe tucks Colt in but Colt fights out to throw BIONIC ELBOWS! And big forearms! Joe staggers, into a BOOT! Joe gets mad, but Colet jumps over and rolls back to roll Joe up! TWO!!

Joe and Colt scramble up, Colt ducks to JAB! JAB! JAB! Colt JABS, flips, flops and flies, but Joe blocks the elbow to CHOP! Joe flips Colt off, but runs into the BIONIC ELBOW! Fans fire up while Joe goes to a corner. Colt runs in, FLYING APPLE! Colt puts Joe in the drop zone, FLYING SPLASH! Cover, TWO! Colt grits his teeth, drags Joe up, but Joe HEADBUTTS! Joe whips, runs in, but Colt dodges to drop toehold! Colt hurries up top to MOONSAULT! Onto knees! COQUINA CLUTCH!! Colt taps, Joe wins!

Winner: Samoa Joe, by submission (still ROH World Television Champion)

Still champion, still the king, and still too much for Colt to defeat! Joe does show respect, though, with the Code of Honor handshake. Will Colt ever get that singles title he’s been after? Will anyone ever take this title from the King of Wrestling Television?

My Thoughts:

A great ROH here, another quick moving one, and it clocks in at about an hour and 40 minutes. I think part of it is the very few promos. Athena had a good promo to not just hype up tonight’s match but to also open the door for anyone to show up and challenge her. As such, of course Athena wins the Proving Grounds match. I am hoping at some point, one of these Proving Grounds matches goes to the time limit so that Athena doesn’t lose, but she does owe the opponent a title match. Meanwhile, good win for Willow against Robyn, and with Charlette not accompanying her ringside, of course Charlette tries trickery to help Robyn. Willow is going strong, but she already lost to Athena, so how are they going to circle her back to the title?

Awesome match out of Vikingo VS Loco, and this was definitely a great way to introduce many fans to Gringo Loco. Loco has a good promo in the locker room, and naturally, Tony Khan extends the open invitation to Loco. And Colt has a good interview promo to hype up his return to ROH and his title match with Samoa Joe. A fairly quick main event, though, even though I figured Joe would retain. I honestly can’t be sure who takes the title from Joe, he’s being booked incredibly strong. I feel like they already dropped the ball on Shane Taylor. He beat Silas Young with the story of it being about their time as ROH World TV Champion, but then Shane is teaming with jobbers to job to bigger names. Tony Khan having ROH creative control is already seeing similar problems to AEW creative.

Great squashes from Iron Savages and Lance Archer. I always felt Bronson & Boulder had potential, even as Bear Country. Jameson had a duffle bag with him, and there was the chalk powder in it. Is that a reference to Cocaine Bear? It’d work a lot better if they were still Bear Country, but oh well. And we all know Archer is great, he just needs to be pushed towards a title. Maybe Archer could take the TV title from Joe? Or even the world title from Claudio? Brian Cage had a good match against Joey Jett, and both guys got their stuff in. Cage wins, of course, as he is the strong front man of the ROH World Six Man Tag champs.

Good to see the QT Factory leftovers in action tonight. Dark Order win, and The Righteous didn’t show up because they only care about Stu. Penta gets a clever win over Comoroto, who is apparently sticking with the mafia gimmick even though The Factory is no more. I remember back to after seeing Lee Johnson VS Ben Carter (Nathan Frazer now) and how I said both of those guys were the future of wrestling. Carter/Frazer is doing fairly well in NXT, but AEW just hasn’t seen “it” in Johnson. Konosuke and Moriarty are also in that category of future big stars, and Konosuke gets a great win. Johnson, Moriarty, Konosuke, there’s potential for them in the Pure Championship division, or even trying their hand at the TV title, if Tony will see the value in such matches.

And really good opener in the Kingdom VS Darius & Action. Now, The Kingdom using numbers and distractions makes sense, they’re the established team over Action subbing in for Dante. But I would’ve liked to see Darius & Action get a win to keep things going. At the same time, The Kingdom want those tag titles, they can and surely will have a great match with the Lucha Brothers, maybe they get on that build now so that we can have the match for the next ROH PPV.
