ROH shares footage from last week’s Death Before Dishonor Press Conference.

It was last Saturday when Tony Khan announced the card for the PPV this Friday. For the ROH Pure Championship, it’ll be Katsuyori Shibata VS Daniel Garcia! Garcia says he respects Shibata but doesn’t understand why Shibata doesn’t reciprocate. Shibata says he doesn’t like Garcia’s dance. Garcia says the dance was pretty effective in that tag match they had before Forbidden Door. Garcia won’t let Shibata step into his house and disrespect him again. But is Garcia’s sports… enner-tay-ner mindset going to hold him back against The Wrestler?

Pure Rules Match: Daniel Garcia VS Jason Geiger!

Speaking of, the Dragonslayer is about to show us just how ready he is for this title match! Will Garcia be dancing all over Geiger to then stampede into Trenton, New Jersey?

For this match-up, our judges are Christopher Daniels, Jerry Lynn, and (though he has a match later tonight) Matt Taven. The Code of Honor is not upheld as Garcia kicks the hand away. The bell rings, we’re on the clock, and the two tie up. They end up going into a corner, along ropes, but they keep moving for a bit. Garcia keeps Geiger on the ropes but the ref lets it be a neutral break, and Garcia pats Geiger on the head. Fans boo as Garcia taunts Geiger and the two reset. Fans tell Garcia “YOU’RE A WRESTLER!” and Garcia fights up to deadlift Geiger, for a POWERBOMB! Garcia then steps through, and he puts on his move, the DRAGONTAMER! And he pulls way back! Geiger taps, Garcia wins!

Winner: Daniel Garcia, by submission

The #1 contender wins in under ten minutes, and he sarcastically shakes Geiger’s hand before literally kicking him out of the ring. But wait! Shibata is here! Fans fire up as the Pure Champion storms down to the ring to get in Garcia’s face. Shibata holds up the title now, but will he be leaving Trenton with it?

Trish Adora w/ The Infantry VS Utami Hayashishita!

The Kingdom may have pulled a fast one on them, but the Infantry isn’t going to call it quits because of that. Will the Afro-Punk get back on track? Or will she underestimate Big Daddy’s Third Daughter?

ROH shares footage from last week.

Lexi Nair interviewed Tony Khan and the NEW Queen of Harts, Willow Nightingale! And from Lexi’s understanding, Tony Khan has an announcement. Yes, because coming off that great match to win the Women’s Owen Hart Cup, Tony would like to announce that based on that and her win over ROH Women’s World Champion, Athena, in the previous round, and given their history with one of the best matches in ROH TV’s recent history, the rubber match will be Friday on PPV, Death Before Dishonor! The ROH Women’s World Championship will see Athena VS Willow! Lexi says Willow could become champion, how is she feeling?

Willow says she’s feeling a lot of things! Still on a high from winning the Owen, and she’s faced Athena twice already. The first time, Willow learned what it was to really be in there with someone as mean yet talented as Athena. But Willow isn’t afraid of Athena anymore, because she just got a win over her. And she has learned what it is to win championships. So this Friday, Athena, Willow is bringing the working boots, the big smile, the big hair and the big fight! See you there!

Backstage interview with Jerry Lynn, Stokely Hathaway and Athena.

This was from just before the show went on the air, and the Fallen Goddess is furious to learn who her challenger is! Lexi wants a word but Athena tells her to shut up! Athena is NOT taking that match on Friday. She has carried this title, she has carried this show, they all owe her! Stokely owes her for The Baddies, and she’s known “Papa Jerry” since she was 19! She is NOT doing this match! Stokely says that he is ROH’s Judge Joe Brown, so he has decided that she IS doing the match. Air gavel. Jerry steps in and says that like Judge Judy would say, they’re having a kerfuffle. He also says Athena’s doing the match!

Athena says she is going over both their heads, she is going to get Tony Khan to veto this garbage! They say good luck with that, and Tony steps in! He tells Athena himself that he is very excited for this match, and says Athena and Willow have a great rivalry, they had one of the best matches ever on just the second episode of ROH’s return. This is what fans want to see! It’s happening, Athena VS Willow for the title. Athena throws a fit, but it’s unanimous. Will she just have to take out her frustrations in the ring?

ROH Women’s World Championship Proving Ground Match: Athena VS Nikita!

Speaking of which, the Fallen Goddess has to keep her focus because she could end up owing another title match down the line. Will she keep cool and finish this fast? Or will she be caught slipping this close to her rematch with Willow?

Wow, Athena cares so little about this match that she didn’t even get in ring gear. The Code of Honor is upheld reluctantly, and the bell rings. Athena doesn’t even rush in like she usually does. Nikita wants Athena to bring it but Athena would rather be doing anything else. Fans rally, Nikita eggs Athena on then storms up to her. Nikita pie faces Athena, and again, and again! The ref has Nikita back off, and Athena snarls. Nikita talks trash, but Athena DECKS her! Cover, Athena wins!

Winner: Athena, by pinfall (denies Nikita a title opportunity)

Nikita just learned a lesson about poking the bear and playing with fire. But Athena is going to give her a little extra! Athena fires off hammer fists! Fans boo and the ref reprimands but Athena TOSSES Nikita, KICKS her in the side, then HAMMERS away on her! Athena drags and TOSSES Nikita, to then DROPKICK her down! Athena stomps away on Nikita and kicks her out of the ring! Fans boo more but Athena goes out after Nikita. Fans want tables but Athena sends Nikita into railing! And she tells the ref to back off! Athena even shouts at commentary! Athena storms back into the ring, fetches her belt, and clutches it tightly. But then WILLOW appears!

Fans cheer as Willow, wearing the Queen of Harts belt, goes right to the ring! Willow stares Athena down as she raises her belt. Athena raises hers in response, and then fires up like she wants to fight right now! Fans want it, but then Athena bails out. Will Athena still hold onto her gold? Or will Willow become the babe with two belts?

The Righteous w/ Stu Grayson VS “The Boys,” Brandon & Brent Tate!

Dutch & Vincent have been in a one-upmanship game with The Dark Order over who can be more vicious and violent. Will Castle’s Boys suffer for the Dark Order not stepping to The Righteous? Or will Brandon & Brent shock the world by being even wilder than them?

The Code of Honor is upheld, and then Dutch CLOBBERS both Boys! The bell rings and Vincent snaps fingers as he swaggers around. Vinnie brings Brandon up but Brandon kicks low and runs, only for Vinnie to ELBOW him down! Vinnie snaps and Dutch stands Brandon up. Brandon boots Vinnie and elbows Dutch, but Vinnie runs to forearm smash! Vinnie then shoves Brandon into buckles, reels him in, and hits a SIDE EFFECT! Tag to Dutch and he drags Brandon up. Dutch feeds Brandon to a KNEE, then INVERTED SUPLEXES! Vinnie adds the BASEMENT COMPLETE SHOT! Cover, Brent breaks it!

Dutch drags Brandon up, Stu says they still have this. Dutch short arm LARIATS Brandon, then storms around. Brandon dodges but Dutch reels him in to back suplex! Brandon lands on his feet, dodges and hot tags Brent! Brent dodges Dutch, ROCKS Vinnie, ELBOWS Dutch then BOOTS him! Brent goes up, leaps, but Dutch catches him! And pops him around, only for Brent to slip free and ENZIGURI! Fans rally as Brent DROPKICKS, but Dutch stays up. Brent runs but into a BODY CHECK! Dutch drags Brent up, suplexes, and hits GHOSTBUSTER! Tag to Vinnie and he drags Brent up, AUTUMN SUNSHINE! Cover, The Righteous win!

Winners: The Righteous, by pinfall

Vicious and dominant, and Vinnie wants The Dark Order to pay attention. This is what they wanted, and this is what they’re missing! So tomorrow at Death Before Dishonor, The Righteous want to open The Dark Order’s eyes to a whole new world. Please listen to what he’s trying to remind them of! Wait, the Dark Order has heard what Vinnie’s saying, and Evil Uno steps out on stage! Just like last week, Uno has a chair, and Stu wants Uno to bring it! Uno says he’ll show them what they want, but then Stu shows Uno NIGHTFALL on Brandon! Uno says challenge accepted, and he will show them everything! Who survives at Death Before Dishonor?

Leyla Hirsch VS Nicole Matthews!

Leyla is back to make the ROH Women’s Division LEGIT, and she’s taking on a wrestler also making her return after nearly 14 YEARS! But who will prove to be the bigger deal in this day and age?

The Code of Honor is upheld, the bell rings, and the two circle. The two tie up, Leyla wrenches to a hammerlock, but Nicole switches, headlocks and hits a takeover. Fans rally, Leyla headscissors and flexes, but the fans are on Nicole’s side as she moves around. Nicole pops free, headlocks, but Leyla fights up to throw Nicole away. The two reset and fans rally up. They tie up again, Leyla trips Nicole with a single leg, and she waistlocks to roll Nicole around. Leyla floats around, slaps Nicole around, and even slaps Nicole in the face! Fans boo and Nicole scowls. They circle, tie up, and Leyla wrenches an arm to a wristlock.

Nicole spins, wrenches, waistlocks, but Leyla drops to drag Nicole into a facelock. Nicole switches that, but Leyla switches back. Fans rally, the two fight up, and Nicole arm-drags! Leyla staggers up, into another arm-drag! Fans rally, Nicole DROPKICKS Leyla down! Leyla goes to a corner, Nicole runs in, but Leyla sends her into buckles! Leyla CLUBS Nicole on the back, grins, and smothers Nicole! The ref counts, Leyla lets off, and she stomps a mudhole in! Leyla digs her boot in, lets off as the ref counts, and fans boo. Leyla storms around Nicole, waistlocks and squeezes tight in a REAR BEARHUG!

Nicole endures, fights up, throws elbows, and fans rally as she gets free! Nicole runs, but Leyla gets around, to SLAM her down! Leyla CLUBS away on Nicole’s neck and head! The ref reprimands, Leyla lets off, and fans boo. Nicole flounders, Leyla waistlocks but Nicole switches! Nicole spins Leyla HANGING NECKBREAKER! Fans fire up as Nicole fires forearm after forearm! Nicole fires up, runs, but Leyla hooks her to a backslide! Nicole rolls through, Leyla KNEES her down! Cover, Leyla wins!

Winner: Leyla Hirsch, by pinfall

That knee was LEGIT! She still keeps the Code of Honor, but will Leyla soon be aiming at the ROH Women’s World Championship?

BREAKING NEWS for Death Before Dishonor’s Zero Hour!

Action Andretti & Darius Martin keep climbing the tag ladder, and they take on The Workhorsemen! Then, in a Pure Rules Match, Josh Woods takes on “Hot Sauce” Tracy Williams! And Leyla looks to keep her momentum rolling as she takes on Afro-Punk Trish Adora! And rounding it out, AR Fox takes on Shane Taylor! Will Fox be flying towards his AEW International Championship next Wednesday on Dynamite?

And BREAKING NEWS for Death Before Dishonor’s main show!

After that challenge issued by The Righteous, they and Stu Grayson will face The Dark Order in a FIGHT WITHOUT HONOR!! Will these two trios tear each other down until there’s only one left? Plus, the Mogul Embassy issued their own Open Challenge for the ROH World Six Man Tag Team Championships, and there was an answer! Leon Ruffin is bringing in Six Or Nine! That’s right, Master Wato & Ryusuke Taguchi are joining the underdog in taking on Brian Cage, Toa Liona & Bishop Kaun! Will the dominance of the Embassy continue? Or will they finally fall?

And in sadder news, Mark Briscoe cannot challenge for the ROH World Championship like he wanted, his injuries have piled up and he will be out for some time. However, given what happened just last night at AEW Dynamite: Blood & Guts, it seems Claudio found a more than apt replacement. He wants to settle things with Pac for storming out on the Blackpool Combat Club, but will he regret giving this opportunity to a Bastard?

The Code of Honor is upheld, though rather lackadaisically by Taven. Fans rally up for Bollywood as the hometown heroes, and the teams sort out. My Thoughts:

A really good ROH, especially for a go-home, and at only 81 minutes. I’ll say again that I hope they stick to this general length, it’s just better. Solid stuff out of Adora VS Utami, Woods VS Stone, and Leyla VS Nicole. And really good stuff leading into Death Before Dishonor. Really good promo and opening match from Daniel Garcia, and of course he won. Nice little stare down between him and Shibata, too, and it’s hard to say where that story is going. Garcia could be a more dedicated ROH star as the Jericho Appreciation Society might disband, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Tony Khan is still a bit stiff and repetitive in his promos but I figured he was going to officially announce Athena VS Willow for the women’s title. And Tony gave all the logical reasons why they’d have this match, namely that Willow beat Athena in the Owen Hart Cup. Athena and Willow were also great in their promos, especially Athena being so upset. Willow is the 2023 Queen of Harts but that doesn’t necessarily mean she’ll become ROH Women’s World Champion. At the same time, this is the perfect time for her to become champion, especially with a new Heel in Leyla Hirsch building her record.

Great match from Castle VS Shane, and Castle is a great choice to face Samoa Joe because of how different they are as personalities. And The Righteous of course squash The Boys, but there wasn’t a lot of fanfare to them and Evil Uno agreeing to a Fight Without Honor Trios match. Even so, that match will be a lot of fun, which I feel like should be more The Dark Order’s win to coincide with them returning to being vicious Heels. They might even add new members in the process, but in the end it’ll be the moral victory for The Righteous as all they’ve really wanted is a vicious Dark Order.

A little surprised the ROH World Six Man titles are on the PPV, but I suppose since ROH doesn’t do monthly PPVs, same as AEW, they have to put in just about everything to make it worth the wait. Pretty sure Ruffin, Taguchi & Wato get beat, though. And we got a really good Four Corner Survival for the main event, though it probably could’ve used a little more time, and more out of the Bollywood Boyz before they took the loss. But after hearing on Dynamite that Best Friends were taking on Lucha Brothers, I’m glad to learn The Kingdom is getting in on it, as they rightfully deserve.

And I’m also glad to learn that surprisingly, Mark Davis is already healthy enough to compete again, so Aussie Open is going to get in on the match. Aussie Open could make a massive comeback, taking the ROH Tag titles tomorrow night, and even going back for the titles they had to vacate in NJPW. It’d be quite the honor if Aussie Open were to become the 100TH IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions while reigning as ROH World Tag Team Champions.

My Score: 8.6/10

Will there be anarchy in New Mexico?

Before Double or Nothing and Anarchy in the Arena, Jon Moxley teams with The Young Bucks against Swerve, Samoa Joe & “Powerhouse” Hobbs!

OFFICIAL RESULTS

  • Six Man Tag: Jon Moxley & The Young Bucks VS Swerve Strickland, Samoa Joe & “Powerhouse” Will Hobbs; win.
  • Mina Shirakawa VS Julia Hart; wins.

PLAY BY PLAY

Tony Schiavone is in the ring!

He brings up the Owen Hart Cup Finals, and the two men fighting for their chance at the AEW World Championship at All In. He introduces first, Hangman Adam Page! The fans fire up for the Blackhat Cowboy as he goes to the ring, and we notice the extra security already on hand. Schiavone then welcomes out the Aerial Assassin, Will Ospreay! Albuquerque fires up again as Ospreay sports his new baseball jersey style merchandise. Schiavone says both men know what is at stake. One goes on to All In: Texas to fight for the world title, upon winning the Owen Cup. Schiavone then turns things over to Ospreay and Hangman.

Ospreay thanks Schiavone and wants everyone to hear him out. He understands why there is security, but he won’t get physical. Will Hangman get physical? No? Good. Then he excuses the security and assures them, he’ll make sure they get paid for their time. Ospreay thanks them as they exit, and Ospreay says he just wants it to be him and Hangman. The fans cheer Ospreay for the gesture, and Ospreay tells Hangman that he has one very important question: “Do you still drink?” The fans boo but Ospreay says c’mon, not in a bad way! He just means, Hangman loves a good beer. And to be honest, Ospreay owes him an apology.

Ospreay says that when they got jumped the other day, Ospreay did take a swing on Hangman. But to be fair, Hangman gave him a headbutt. But like Ospreay’s dad says, when he gets hit in the face, it is a drastic improvement. But Ospreay does have some beers for them. The ring crew brings those over, and Ospreay hands Hangman one. Ospreay wants cheers, but Hangman stares him down. The fans are torn, Ospreay takes a swig, and says it’s fine. Ospreay puts his aside, and says while they need to get things off their chest, there is something else Ospreay wants to do.

Ospreay wishes to petition to Tony Khan and the AEW Board of Directors that Ospreay VS Hangman on Sunday are the main event. The fans like that idea! Ospreay says surely some still think he’s crazy. Why would Ospreay wanna follow one of the most destructive and brutal matches AEW has in Anarchy in the Arena? Why would Ospreay wanna follow three hours of amazing professional wrestling? Ospreay says to those people, “You do not know what is at stake!” The fans cheer, and Ospreay says not only is this about winning the beautiful Owen Hart Memorial trophy, not only is this about going to All In: Texas on Saturday, July 12th…

But the winner of this match is the person with the responsibility of bringing back that beautiful gold belt! The fans cheer that! Ospreay says he really wants this. He wants this so badly! He feels the moment he stepped here, he has done everything the right way. He leaves his home country on a Tuesday, arrives here, makes seven to 15 HOUR flights every single week! He barely sleeps on Tuesday, he is constantly jetlagged, doesn’t really know where he is, but he puts on his “crime fighting pants,” and he says ring the bell, bruv! The fans cheer that! Ospreay says he wants to wear the title with pride! To show it around the world!

And most importantly, he wants to bring it home. Ospreay brings up August 24th, Forbidden Door in London, the O2, an arena just 30 minutes from his home. There are people that have supported Ospreay from the ballrooms and the halls. He has been a young, immature man who has grown up right in front of them, and he wants to wear that title in front of them while he thanks them for their support! The fans also cheer that. But the other thing is, every Tuesday when he flies to the US is that he leaves his six-year-old son at home, and he wants nothing more than to walk into that building so his son can see him as WORLD CHAMPION!

The fans cheer more, and Ospreay understands how much Hanger wants it. But Ospreay wants it just that little bit more. The fans cheer Ospreay on, but then the “COWBOY SH*T!” rises. Hangman tells Ospreay, “That is the difference between you and I. And that will be the difference between you and I on Sunday. Will, you want this, you want it bad. And I know that feeling, because I have lived it. And I know that you understand that in ALL of professional wrestling, there is no prize grander, there is no greater honor, than to be the All Elite Wrestling World Champion, I know you know that!

“But Will… For you, this could be a professional accomplishment. Granted, it is the biggest professional accomplishment either you or I could ever dream of having! But it is that: A professional accomplishment. For me, this is personal. I don’t want this opportunity, I need it.” The fans cheer that, too! Hangman says he has WASTED two years of his life, filled with nothing but grief, sorrow, and hate! In those two years, Hangman has not won a single tournament or a single championship. The one thing that Hangman did win brought him nothing but the same. The worst of it wasn’t even here. It was when he was at home.

It was last Christmas morning, when Hangman’s son sat on the floor… playing with his new toys, he looked up to see his dad staring out the window, looking for someone he knew would never come back! How many times in two years did his son look at Hangman and feel disappointment?! Hangman NEEDS this!! When Hangman goes home, he needs his wife to look at him and not feel pity! She needs to see the man she fell in love with all those years ago! For Hangman’s kids to look up to him, to know they have the father they deserve! And for all these people who supported him when he deserved it the least to know that he can be the kind of man that THEY can believe in!

And Hangman needs this for himself. Because Hangman needs to know that there can be some kind of light at the end of this two year tunnel through Hell… Hangman needs it, because he needs to know Ospreay was wrong when Ospreay said that for Hangman, this was too little, too late. Ospreay scowls a bit as the fans get fired up. Ospreay tells Hangman, “So what’re you planning on doing about it? You’re gonna wrap a chair over my skull? You gonna beat me so bad that I have to retire, like you did Christopher Daniels? I’m not going down that path. Cuz I’ve been there, and it took a lot for me to come back.”

As silly as this might sound, Ospreay says he is showing up, and he is doing his best. And sometimes, his best hasn’t been good enough. He’ll admit that he’s lost. Lost bad. But he’s never lost because he dragged the ref around to get an advantage. He’s never whined to his boss about not getting his way. If Ospreay has lost, he has lost leaving it all in this ring! And if he’s lost, he at least won the fans’ respect! The fans cheer that, and Ospreay says more importantly… He won their trust! Hangman asks if that’s enough! Is that enough for Moxley and the Death Riders? Ospreay doesn’t know!! He doesn’t know what it takes!

Ospreay wrestled Moxley twice, and he lost both times! He doesn’t know how to do it, but Hangman does! So then show Ospreay! Show THAT man on Sunday! That fire, that animal! Because of Ospreay can beat that Hangman, then Ospreay knows he can beat Moxley! The fans fire up more, and Ospreay says Hangman used to be a pure-hearted man, and he can also be a bad man! He is a Cowboy! The one we’re meant to look towards when times are hard! But he hasn’t been doing that! He’s been staring out of the window! Hangman’s been looking for Swerve! His attention hasn’t been on being The Guy, but on someone else.

And Ospreay gets it, when someone crosses the threshold from business to personal, you gotta handle it. We could give Hangman a month, two months, three, but an entire YEAR?! An entire year has changed Hangman! The kids don’t look up to him! The men, the boys backstage, they lost respect for him. And the women have screamed in terror when Hangman wanted to kill Swerve! Ospreay is not that guy. Ospreay is just the guy that’ll show up and do his best. But before writing Ospreay off, Ospreay’s best has beaten MJF, Bryan Danielson, Kazuchika Okada, Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho, anyone else you can name!

Wanna know what? Because Ospreay is the best in the EFFIN’ WORLD!! The fans are really fired up now! Ospreay tells Hangman, he knows that when the bell rings, anything can happen. If it is Hangman, Ospreay will be happy for him. And if Hangman thinks he has no friends, then it’ll take more than one person off of Moxley. Ospreay says if Hangman needs a friend, someone watching his back, Ospreay will have his back. Ospreay hopes the same goes back from Hangman. If Ospreay wins, hopefully Hangman will have his back. Ospreay then offers the toast again. So what Ospreay is saying, Cowboy, “Meet me in the desert! I’m calling you out for a shootout, bruv!”

Ospreay chugs his bear, HHH spits some of it, and then tosses his bottle. Hangman chugs his beer down to the very last drop, and the duel is set! Which one of these gunslingers hits the mark to then take aim at The Maniac in Texas?

Jon Moxley walks into the building.

Marina Shafir follows the Maniac AEW World Champion, and he seethes all the way. “Tensions are rising in AEW. The spoils will go to those that embrace the anarchy.” Moxley goes from pavilion to bleachers as he makes his entrance. Anarchy in the Arena is no longer the main event, but will this appetizer make up for that?

Six Man Tag: Jon Moxley & The Young Bucks VS Swerve Strickland, Samoa Joe & “Powerhouse” Will Hobbs!

Best of the Super Juniors 32 A Block: Kosei Fujita VS Yoshinobu Kanemaru!

The Japanese Young Punk has stumbled a bit, but he is still near the front of the pack. Will the Heel Master change all that with the same old tricks up his sleeve? Or will we see even now, that The Mighty Don’t Kneel?

Same old tricks indeed! The House of Torture helps the Heel Master steal this one away, will the deck just keep being stacked? Can Fujita rise back up and still make the finals?

Best of the Super Juniors 32 A Block: KUSHIDA VS Clark Connors!

The Time Splitter had a rough start but he’s turned it around to be one of the frontrunners in this race. Meanwhile, War Dog Racing has dropped back, but he isn’t done yet! Could Connors be the lucky dog that makes up his lost lap? Or will Kushida hit that 88 miles per hour Back to the Future?

But Connors is wary of his little friend after what happened last time. The count is 10 of 20 but Connors refreshes it.

Connors runs up on Kushida, but Kushida FLATLINERS him onto a chair! Kushida goes for Wheel-san! The fans rally as Kuhida picks it up, but both ref and Connors tell him not to do it! Connors runs away as Kushida CHUCKS Wheel-san! Then Connors comes back to JEEP FLIPPER! Kushida hits the apron and the fans fire up! Connors looks to Wheel-san and decides he can trust the tire again. Connors brings Wheel-san around and JAMS Kushida up! And then he goes wild hitting the Young Lions with Wheel-san! Connors shouts, “WHEEL-SAN!” and the fans fire up. Connors then uses a Young Lion as a brake so he can stand Wheel-san up.

Connors drags Kushida over and pushes him down onto Wheel-san for a backbreaker rack! The fans cheer but the ref reprimands, and Connors lets go of Kushida. The ring count starts and Connors drags Kushida up at 5 to put in at 6. The fans applaud while Kushida crawls. Connors storms up, CLUBS Kushida on the back, and then has him against the ropes. As for Wato, he now leads the block! After he has the belt and the mic, he says, “Hold on a moment. Wato a second. Stay until the end here.” Wato wants to make sure Robbie and the fans don’t just exit. Wato thanks them for staying, and he thanks the fans for coming today. Wato says that along with the tag titles, there is one other thing he needs. The fans have an idea what that is, but Wato says, “The IWGP Junior Heavyweight title that El Desperado has. I will win this tournament and use that as my chance and come for you.”

The fans applaud Wato wanting after his old rival and teammate, and Wato says with the singles title wrapped around his waist, he will return here, sell out this place, and sell out every building on his way to the Tokyo Dome. He wants to see the best sights possible! The fans applaud, and Wato says, “It is us, the Junior Heavyweights, that will make NJPW the best it’s ever been, and I will be the man at the center.” And while it has been awhile, he will close with his signature. In English, “I will be the Grandmaster!” The fans applaud, are we about to see Wato prove he is truly the Best of the Super Juniors?

Here are the NEW A Block standings!

Master Wato: 4-2, 8 points
Robbie X: 3-3, 6 points
Francesco Akira: 3-3, 6 points
Dragon Dia: 3-3, 6 points
Yoshinobu Kanemaru: 3-3, 6 points
Kosei Fujita: 3-3, 6 points
Hiromu Takahashi: 3-3, 6 points
Clark Connors: 3-3, 6 points
KUSHIDA: 3-3, 6 points
Ninja Mack: 2-4, 4 points

My Thoughts:

A great night for NJPW, and I am very grateful they’re downsizing round 6 so that it is only one block. Ten matches on one card was a lot to get done. Hiromu winning by submission was a bit surprising, but I appreciate it. I once said for Kazuchika Okada adding Money Clip to his moveset, that can help with career longevity. No need to do the high impact moves all the time, the holds are ironically less wear ‘n’ tear on the body. And in the end, the block is looking pretty wild. Mack is the only 2-4, Wato is 4-2, and everyone else is 3-3 so there are still a lot of possibilities for semifinalists. Great win for Wato over Robbie, and it would be something if the 2023 and 2024 BOSJ winners met to see who becomes the 2025 winner.

My Score: 8.9/10
