New NWA National Heavyweight Title Is Unveiled

Published

on

Coming up this Sunday at the Nashville Fairgrounds, also known as the TNA Asylum, the National Wrestling Alliance will present its 70th Anniversary show that also will air live on FITE.

Among the big matches for Sunday’s card will be a tournament to crown a brand new NWA National Heavyweight Champion, as the title is being reprised. The previous incarnation of the NWA National Heavyweight Title began with its inaugural champion Austin Idol in 1980 and was deactivated in 1986. The championship would be revived in 1997 until last September when the promotion terminated the contracts with all of its licensees.

The title now has a new lease on life however, as Jay Bradley, Ricky Starks, Mike Parrow and Willie Mack battle in one Fatal 4-Way at NWA’s 70th. In another, Colt Cabana will meet Scorpio Sky, Sam Shaw and Sammy Guevara, then winners of both Fatal 4-Ways square-off later in the show to crown the next NWA National Heavyweight Champion. The prize can be seen in the video above as the NWA posted a look at the new championship:

WWE News: Spoiler On Shawn Michaels’ Next RAW Appearance

Published

on

Even with all of the controversy surrounding WWE’s Crown Jewel event in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on November 2nd, the show is proceeding as planned and will feature the in-ring return of one of the unquestioned all-time greats, ‘The Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels.

Michaels has not competed since being retired by The Undertaker at WrestleMania XXVI in 2010, but steps back into the squared circle alongside Triple H as the newly reunited D-Generation X looking for a modicum of revenge against the aforementioned ‘Deadman’ and Kane, The Brothers Of Destruction. With such a big match on the horizon, you would think Michaels would be appearing more on Monday Night RAW to build to the match, but that was not the case this past week.

Today, PWInsider reports they have confirmed ‘HBK’ will be in the house when RAW heads to Providence, Rhode Island this coming Monday to do just that, build to the match at Crown Jewel. There is still the Monday Night RAW following that on October 29th from the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina and while it’s believed Michaels will be on-hand, that has not been confirmed at this time.

Published

on

The stock of Major League Wrestling continues to rise as the company ventures to new places such as the upcoming Fightland television tapings in Chicago on November 8th.

At this point, MLW has made enough noise that the WWE has taken notice, as they reportedly were not happy with MLW’s use of the War Games name. WWE has also reportedly been going after a number of MLW’s talents, as it’s been noted that Pentagon Jr, Rey Fenix, MJF and Shane Strickland among others have been on the WWE’s radar for a number of months. Therefore, MLW has gone ahead and begun trying to lock talents down with contracts.

According to PWInsider, two such performers have signed on the dotted line as PCO and Richard Holliday have both agreed to deals. PCO, (or Pierre-Carl Ouellet) has seen a career resurgence on the independent scene over the past year, popping up in over the top vignettes on social media and wrestling promotions all across the country.

Holliday was most recently seen at MLW’s Fury Road television tapings at the Melrose Ballroom in Queens, New York. It’s been noted that there are some in the promotion that view Holliday like they do MJF, meaning he has a lot of upside and potential to be a long-term star.
