The last time that we saw DeAngelo in IMPACT was at Slammiversary 15 when he teamed up with former pro football player turned wrestler Moose to face the team of Eli Drake and Chris Adonis in successful fashion. Fans were worried about how Williams would perform at the event since he is not a professional wrestler, but when it was showtime, he more than held his own. It was later revealed after the PPV in an interview with ESPN that Williams only had three days of training. He would also add that it would be his only time wrestling as he planned on sticking to football.
DeAngelo was at the last set of television tapings (which you can check out here) which makes sense for him making his return to IMPACT next week.
Ja’ Von’s Take: I really don’t see any point to bringing DeAngelo Williams back because right now the company is making strides in the industry. IMPACT also has the best roster they’ve had in years and bringing a professional football player back would hinder them, in my opinion. I’m kind of intrigued to see what they do with him next week, maybe this leads to something at Slammiversary later this month.
