Silas Young is expected to stick around with Ring Of Honor!
A couple of weeks back it was revealed during an interview that Ring Of Honor’s Silas Young is about to head into free agency, joining the likes of Cody and The Young Bucks who will be hitting the open market (see Silas’ comments here).
Silas also had ROH fans stirring this week as well after he was spotted in some ringside seats at WWE’s Monday Night RAW in Milwaukee, leading many to believe that he was on his way to work for Vince McMahon and a contract was on the way. However, that was later said to not be the case as Silas’ son is a big wrestling fan and wanted to attend the show (they live in the area), which is why Young was in attendance.
Today, The Wrestling Observer Newsletter has provided an update on the former ROH World Television Champion’s future, reporting that it’s expected he will be staying with the promotion on a three-year deal. Of course, this is not official just yet.
EA’s Take: If Silas isn’t heading to WWE now, I don’t think it will ever happen. Of course, never say never, but he’s 40-years old now. I know some people will point to other examples of older stars going to the WWE like AJ Styles or Bobby Lashley, but those were completely different cases. AJ was a bonafide star (nothing against Silas) with huge exposure outside of the company at the time and Lashley was someone they had worked with before. So it’s not like bringing a relatively unknown commodity in unless perhaps NXT could be an option down the road due to the lesser schedule.
