While it can be argued whether it is considered the right or wrong type of heat, there’s no denying that since WWE Superstar Lio Rush was paired with Bobby Lashley on Monday Night RAW, the man can definitely draw the ire of the crowd.
As his profile on RAW has grown, Rush’s impact on 205 Live, the brand he was originally brought up from NXT for, has seemingly decreased after a lot of hype for his arrival. Of course, we would learn that WWE Chairman Vince McMahon had always had a distaste for managers that recently changed (see that here), with two being added to RAW from the 205 Live roster including 205 Live General Manager Drake Maverick who now accompanies AOP.
According to The Wrestling Observer, the original plan for ‘The Man Of The Hour’ Lio Rush on 205 Live was for him to become a “lead heel” for the brand and do something quite similar to what he does now for Lashley on RAW. Initially, Rush was supposed to be brought to 205 Live along with NXT Superstar Babatunde, who you may remember as an entrant in the Greatest Royal Rumble this past April.
The thought behind pairing Rush with Babatunde would be so that Lio could antagonize his opponents while hiding behind the big man, almost identical to his role alongside Bobby Lashley. At this time, there are now no plans for Babatunde to be partnered with Rush on 205 Live.
