WWE Raw Talk

WOOOO~! It’s a royal edition of Raw Talk!

Ricochet, the NEW Raw Tag Team Champions, and the newest Women’s Grand Slam Champion, Charlotte Flair, are all ready for to talk about what we just saw on Monday Night Raw!

#CharTruth welcomes us back to the show!

Charly Caruso and R-Truth are back and the madness from TLC spilled over, but that’s what they like to see. Truth agrees, but was expecting Charly to name-drop 24/7. Well she’ll get to his time tonight in a minute after proper introductions. Can she get a small engraving on one of the side plates here? Maybe. They’ll talk with the people next week. The people are a little busy tonight. Well make it Charly’s Christmas gift to her. That was a test and she passed, boom!

But as things ended on Raw, Sheamus Brogues Keith at the end of their match! And it was very intentional. The animosity had been building all night, and not even winning stopped it. That is a big problem. Who is at fault? Who can say? Truth should know how men get heated and fight things out. Women like a good cry. Agreed, men are different. But one thing Charly respects about this is men get upset and they take it to each other, and then they’re fine. Remember McIntyre and Sheamus brawling out over the accidental Brogue?

Right, but even some guys are different from others. Some guys take it, shrug it off, some have to come back and do something. So they get butthurt? Truth isn’t sure about that, but he knows some guys are emotional. So either Keith or Sheamus feels some kind of way about the other. Charly asks how Truth thinks The Fiend felt about being set on fire. Hot, and not in a good way. That was horrific! Why would Orton do that? Fiend didn’t get put out or anything. But then we saw Alexa Bliss appear on a swing. So creepy! And she taunted Orton in a way making us think this isn’t the last of The Fiend. And Alexa wasn’t even sad! She knows something we don’t!

Truth thinks The Fiend is Alexa’s dad. That’s a creepy family right there. Charly isn’t sure about that, but she is just giving us speculation. The point is, The Fiend could be coming back sooner rather than later. Orton is the only person who is willing to go that far against The Fiend, but let us move on to our first guest. Someone else who is trying to take on something all by himself, in his fight against Retribution.

Ricochet joins Raw Talk!

The One and Only has been fighting Mustafa Ali and Retribution, but it seems to be a losing battle. What does he think of this “struggle” against them? “At the end of the day, I want to get up here and tell you guys so badly that it’s just another bump in the road,” but honestly, he is pissed! Ricochet is upset that every time he fights, no matter how hard, he ends up in pain. Charly knows he doesn’t want to join Retribution, but should he change his course of action? Truth says it’d be better than an ass whooping. If you’d asked him two weeks, or even just one week ago, he would’ve confidently said no.

But now? Now, the more Ricochet sits and thinks, maybe that is the problem. He has to sit and think on what it is in himself that he continues to fail. He was US Champion for only a couple weeks, he could barely slow Brock Lesnar down, he couldn’t overcome the Hurt Business, and now he’s struggling against Retribution. Something has to change, but he doesn’t know what that is yet. Well if you can’t beat them, join them. That’s what they say. But not what Ricochet says, right? Truth believes in Richard O’Shea! Ricochet believes in himself. He has to stare himself in the mirror and come up with a game plan. Ricochet wants to believe that himself, but he’s emotional as he says something’s gotta change. Ricochet wants to figure it out, it’s on its way, but if Ricochet stays the same, he’ll end up the same away again every week.

Truth says it’s better to stay in the light than in the dark. There’s creepy stuff in the dark. Charly translates and says there is potential. Ricochet doesn’t agree with Retribution, but what if he gave it a chance and he changes them? Has he thought about it even just a little? Ricochet doesn’t want to. He doesn’t want to be part of Retribution in any way. However, he just can’t continue being the one people step over to further their own careers. Charly understands that. “So if that means trying something a little different, who knows?” Charly respects Ricochet keeping an open mind, but she hopes this doesn’t ruin his holiday. It is Christmas, so please enjoy your time with family and friends. Stay in the light!

The Hurt Business joins Raw Talk!

Without much of an introduction, the new Raw Tag Team Champions join the show. They are dapper, with the titles, and gold ties. All intentional and calculated. And to business. They aren’t going to speed bump, or speed pass, things. Truth’s making their IQ’s drop already. Benjamin wants to point out that earlier tonight, while taking their victory lap, the party was crashed. They didn’t appreciate that, Truth. Truth asks what they mean. Oh right the photo… A certain someone brought “the dumb dumb train” with him. Truth says that wasn’t him. Are you sure? The hair, the 24/7 Championship, and all his “uninvited guests.” Truth still denies being part of that. He feels like he’s in a time warp or Groundhog Day. Well they weren’t champions last time. Truth congratulates them joining the champions club.

Charly says Truth shows up whenever, he did it to the kickoff show yesterday. But the Hurt Business has a lot going on so speak on that. 2020 has been a shaky year for many, but Alexander is feeling great right now! He’s got the titles! But what’s funny, someone else was on the show just moments ago, who could’ve been sitting with gold on his shoulder. Ricochet decided he wants to “live in the light.” He can live in the light, they will live in the penthouse and in style! Truth likes that. Is there a complimentary name to the Age of Alexander? Truth says it’s Cedric the Entertainer! No, Cedric Alexander. Graham Bell! Truth heard about him in history class.

Alexander politely corrects Charly. This is no longer the Age of Alexander, Cedric has moved past that. This is PRIME Alexander. When you are prime, you are excellent, and Alexander has been excellent in every sense of the word. Tell him if he’s wrong. But she can’t. It does not get better than Alexander! Benjamin says that ever since Cedric joined the Hurt Business, he has done nothing but get better and better each week. He is primed for titles, primetime and being the biggest star in WWE ever! Charly thanks them for their time, and wishes them a very happy holiday. Put those on the Christmas trees. Benjamin makes sure Truth gets the name right from now on.

But speaking of names, a name not easily forgotten, and a first time appearance on Raw Talk! It is THE QUEEN!

Charlotte Flair joins Raw Talk!

One half of the NEW Women’s Tag Team Champions is here, and Charly welcomes her back to Raw. And congrats on just within 24 hours, becoming a champion again. Entering Raw a champion is just normal for her. Truth also says there’s a guy with the same last name. Oh, c’mon, Truth. Why do you think she keeps winning? It’s in her blood. WOO~! Oh right, Charlotte’s Dad. That was a test. She passed. Oh, okay. But how is Charlotte feeling? It really hasn’t hit her yet. After going home, she’ll let it sink in that TLC and Raw have happened and this is what she’s been missing for six months.

What was it like being away for six months and seeing things moving forward? “That’s the hardest part. Everything was moving on without me.” She thought Raw needed the Queen, but they didn’t really because Asuka was carrying things. But that motivated Charlotte to get back, and she had the chance to be a tag partner. That’s legit. Six months off, Charlotte hasn’t missed a beat. She had plenty of potato salad and mac ‘n’ cheese, though. So what is it like to be tag partners with Asuka? They’ve been so complimentary, and they’re both so talented, so what’s it like reigning alongside her?

Well Charlotte’s never gotten a chance to say this. But when she first faced Asuka and ended the longest win streak, that cemented Charlotte’s own legacy. Asuka had nothing to prove but Charlotte had everything. What it takes to stay on top, Charlotte can’t help but respect that. Asuka is still shoulder to shoulder with her. Charlotte normally doesn’t play well with others, but if she’s going to team with anyone, it she should be with a warrior like Asuka. Charly says that’s interesting, because seeing those two together, it’s like, “Does it get any better?” In pure talent, two of the most decorated women in the WWE. Is there anyone on the roster that are worthy opponents?

Well on commentary, Charlotte was saying Nia and Shayna get in the groove, then see Dana and Mandy improve, it’s great. Dana was Charlotte’s protégé at one point, and so it’s great to see her growing. The others improving motivates Charlotte to get better. The others are always on the grind. Charly agrees with that. It’s great to see how far the Women’s Division has come over the last few years. But now Charlotte comes back, makes a statement, and it’s a bit of a surprise. Charlotte seems immune to ring rust. Charlotte did doubt for just a moment, because coming back at a PPV, is she going to be that Charlotte? Can she be “that B” again?

She means it! She put so much pressure on her to not slip or regress. She wanted to be where Asuka and the others were, and even after main-eventing, and now becoming a Grand Slam Champion, which yes she will put herself over on that. The NXT Women’s, WWE Diva’s, WWE Women’s, Raw Women’s, SmackDown Women’s, Women’s Tag. Charlotte is the ONLY woman to have had everything, the true, ultimate grand slam! And yet, she was nervous again in new gear, back after time off. When you  never lose those butterflies, you can make the people go, “Damn! Now I remember why that is Charlotte Flair.”

Charly and Truth say she has not lost a beat. Performance Center to ThunderDome, the Queen is still the Queen. Congrats on being #TheWoman. And that’s all for Raw Talk, see you next Monday!

My Thoughts:

A very good Raw Talk, but with very little down time between guests. Ricochet had a good segment, but perhaps it circled around the same concept a little too much. I do appreciate that he is given a chance to voice how the losses are getting to his character. I feel like he could’ve brought up how it’s all because of numbers, but perhaps that’d be him making excuses and Ricochet doesn’t like doing that. I feel what needs to change is that he gets teammates. Cedric Alexander may have betrayed him and Apollo Crews may been drafted to SmackDown (not that they’re using Apollo for anything right now over there), but Ricochet could still make new friends and have new allies. Truth seemed to go back and forth on things, though, suggesting joining is better than getting whooped, but then switching to saying Ricochet can’t give up.

Alexander and Benjamin had a good segment, hyping up the new nickname of “PRIME(D) Alexander.” The only other thing that came out of it, though, was that they want Truth to not get the names wrong anymore. Charlotte had a good segment all to herself, and I am starting to think Charlotte is very insistent on not swearing. She only just said “that B” and in matches where she’s gotten frustrated, she’s only ever gone “DANG IT!” That’s actually really adorable. And it’s great to hear from her directly that she still has those nerves and embraces them because it makes her better. I’m thinking she and Asuka will be tag champs together for a long time, just because WWE needs to once again put more into the Women’s Tag Division like they were over the summer for Bayley and Sasha.

Mitchell’s AEW Continental Classic Update! (11/27/23)

What a start to the tournament!

Did your picks win points?

The AEW Continental Classic is underway, with almost everyone competing. Check in here if you haven’t seen the winners and losers of week 1!

Here are your Gold League standings!

  • Jon Moxley: 1-0, 3 points
  • Swerve Strickland: 1-0, 3 points
  • Jay White: 1-0, 3 points
  • Rush: 0-1, 0 points
  • Mark Briscoe: 0-1, 0 points.
  • Jay Lethal: 0-1, 0 points

Here are your Blue League standings!

  • Brody King: 1-0, 3 points
  • Claudio Castagnoli: 1-0, 3 points
  • Daniel Garcia: 0-1, 0 points
  • Eddie Kingston: 0-1, 0 points
  • Bryan Danielson: Yet to Compete
  • Andrade El Idolo: Yet to Compete

My Thoughts:

Nothing too crazy, nothing too wild, this tournament only just got started. The only disappointing point is that they could not get Bryan “cleared to compete” Saturday night. Not sure how much of that is shoot given the bad eye, but this was kinda the problem of wanting him in the tournament over tons of other choices. Bryan wants to face Okada for WrestleKingdom 18, how is Bryan supposed to do that at his best if he’s also gonna be in a round robin, doing five top level matches in about as many weeks? And it takes away from Andrade being able to do something. Also a little surprised we didn’t even hear from Andrade on Saturday.

Now as we heard on Saturday, round two’s matches are set. Gold League will see Mark Briscoe VS Rush, White VS Swerve, and of course, Moxley VS Lethal. Nice variety there, a couple 0-1 guys facing off, as well as two 1-0 guys, and then 1-0 VS 0-1. No offense to Lethal, but he feels like an 0-2 going up against Moxley. Hard to call the other ones but that’s the fun of it. Meanwhile, Blue League sees Brody VS Claudio in a showdown to be 2-0, then Bryan and Andrade finally jump in, Bryan against Eddie and Andrade against Garcia. Sadly, feels like Eddie and Garcia are going 0-2, no way Tony Khan is booking Bryan and Andrade to lose their first shots.

In fact, that could be half the reason they did wait on those two, that’s almost too good for just a first round opener. But I still would’ve done it, same as NJPW does stuff like that for round robins, which this is all modeled after anyway.
